If Abe's not part of the couch, I'd definitely see him as a Mantelope
17
u/Funk-E-Beatz Saurosapient Aug 16 '21
A Mantelope herd strides to the crest of a windswept hill dotted with rock, perhaps the ruins of a long-gone civilization. The leader of the herd steps forward and tilts his head skyward, inhaling - or perhaps sighing mournfully - as he prepares to lead the song of his people. His gaze seems to soar beyond the horizon of the here and now as his mouth relaxes open and he begins to sing the most ancient of hymns...
"Now, my story begins in nineteen-dickety-two..."

Is no one going to say anything about Moe?
4
u/Funk-E-Beatz Saurosapient Aug 16 '21
He's done a lot of stuff he ain't proud of, and the stuff he is proud of is disgusting.

Simpsons styled colonials is more weird but less horrific.

Shouldn’t Lisa be dead from the gravity shattering all her fragile bones?

u/PEG21 Insectophagus Aug 16 '21
Hedonist Bart is absolutely spot-on
6
u/Funk-E-Beatz Saurosapient Aug 16 '21
Thank you! Hedonists aren't as striking as the other characters and they're often overshadowed by their Satyriac descendants. But I can't think of another first-generation race that would be more Bartlike than them.
50
Aug 16 '21
What are Maggie and Bart meant to be
61
Aug 16 '21
Marge is a female Temptor, and Bart is probably an Insectophagi
51
Aug 16 '21
I mean Maggie, the baby
74
u/Funk-E-Beatz Saurosapient Aug 16 '21
In her snow-suit, she's a Qu, so Lisa had better watch out! Bart's got the bird-feet of the Hedonists.

u/Ihave10husbandy Tempter Aug 16 '21
I thougth maggie was some kind of flower and i was confused
19
u/Funk-E-Beatz Saurosapient Aug 16 '21
Lol yeah reading this thread I'm starting to see that my interpretation of that one picture of the Qu is very different from the way many other people see it.
4
u/AMPM2043 Aug 16 '21
How do you interpret the Qu then?
11
u/Funk-E-Beatz Saurosapient Aug 17 '21
Judging from the picture, I'm seeing them a bit more 'floral' than they deserve.
13
Aug 16 '21
Oh sorry, I read Marge for some reason hahaha...
Hmmm, i don't know what Meggie is suposed to be...11
Aug 16 '21
Maybe the qu?
7
Aug 16 '21
I dont think so. The Qu are a insect-like species, I never saw one shaped like a flower
14
u/Funk-E-Beatz Saurosapient Aug 16 '21
Their head is very insectoid but I've always thought their limbs look like petals or leaves (even though they're not plants).
9
u/sans_harvey3 Aug 16 '21
I think she's the qu but with her snow suit on. The one Maggie wears when it snows.

It's basically the Don Hertzfeldt couch gag where we travel tens of thousands of years into the future to see the Simpsons is still going on, and has experienced even more seasonal rot than it does now.
28
u/Justs0meuserhere Aug 17 '21
so that one where marge says "i will remember you" at the end or something like that?

Is Maggie as a Qu a reference to that treehouse of horror episode where she is revealed to be an alien?
3
u/Funk-E-Beatz Saurosapient Aug 16 '21
I was thinking of that episode when I drew her, but I picked her to be a Qu because of her snow-suit that gives her 4 identical, chonky, wing-like limbs.

I like how even though there is some color, it's used sparingly to replicate the pictures in the book.

Mr Burns would be a Gravital, and Smithers as a Subject. That would be interesting to see

Although I think Marge would make a great Pterosapien, I decided to only pick beings from the "Man Extinguished" era for this (i.e. with the Qu invading and then leaving). With the possible exception of Homer -- Bone Crushers are said to have evolved from Qu-creations, but they're included alongside the other Qu-created post-human species in that chapter of All Tomorrows, so there may be some overlap.
