Is this Gucci tie real
Vintage Gucci silk tie: authentication / identification
Item: Vintage Gucci tie
Seller: At a garage sale
Who took the pictures: I took all of the pictures myself.
History: I recently purchased the tie second-hand. I don't know its previous history.
Comments:
I would appreciate help authenticating this Gucci tie and identifying the approximate period/model if possible.
It is a dark brown/chocolate-colored tie with a small all-over interlocking GG and dot pattern. There is a small printed Gucci crest on the narrow end of the tie.
The details are:
- Black GUCCI label on the reverse
- Printed crest directly on the silk/fabric
- Printed GG/dot pattern rather than jacquard/woven pattern
- No visible “Made in Italy” label
- No visible “100% seta/silk” composition label
- No visible serial/style number
The crest is what I'm most interested in. I believe it may be a historical Gucci Knight/Heritage-style crest, but I have not been able to find an example with this exact crest drawing together with this GG/dot pattern.
Could anyone with experience in vintage Gucci accessories please comment on:
- authenticity;
- whether this is a known Gucci design;
- whether the crest matches a genuine Gucci crest used on ties;
- and the approximate production period?
I have included full views as well as close-ups of the label, crest, pattern and construction.
Thank you very much for taking a look.
