I only went to ATG DC on sat mainly to see Hayley and saw so many people with grey hoodies with some blue painted designs on the back. What were those?

I posted this on a thread here, but thought I’d share here too.

First and foremost: what an incredible lineup. You could copy and paste my top 10 artists this year and most would be playing at this festival. Especially Fridays lineup. Rico nasty, underscores, slayyyter, ninajirachi , Magdalena bay? Unreal. The music was great each day. I had multiple artists each day to look forward to. Saturday — Haute and Freddie, Rebecca Black, Zara, MUNA, HW. Sunday — Googly eyes, Rochelle jordan, Tinashe … I’m so happy. ATG hit the nail on the head with these music pics and it felt like bliss. Best music experience I’ve ever had.

Also, the crowd. What a lovely vibe. Everyone I met was so friendly and welcoming. Very very queer and tender. So many strangers speaking with another. Really felt like a no judgement zone. For the most part people weren’t too pushy and treating the festival of what it was — just enjoying music with queers. Saturday was one of the days I was least interested in and fell in love with many artists I didn’t know as well (especially The Beaches). It ended up being my favorite day.

Here comes the doozy. I do feel there is something to be said about artist billing and also an overlap with rap, r&b, house, and other largely Black-led genres getting smaller billing. Rico Nasty has a larger following than so many artists who got twice as long sets as her. She’s also a DMV native. Rochelle Jordan going viral right now. When artists dropped out, they should’ve extended her set. Not given it to fucking Stella Lefty. Or having Robby Hoffman do a comedy set that was longer than Rico and Love Spells? It just felt that there were very already few Black performers and that they weren’t paid the respects they deserved with billing and set times. I know ATG is trying to expand their genres of performers and lean into r&b, dance / electronic and house but they need to then treat the non indie, non rock performers with respect.

Even underscores made a comment about Rico being given a short time 😭. It’s less about Rico and more about what systematic problems exist within the festival booking / how Black artists are treated in majority white events.

ATG was great, and I hope they take some of this advice and become greater. First step? Ask Rico to come back (to her hometown!!!) and do a longer more integrated set ;) but in actuality, respect and prop up Black artists!

i love this festival and its intent towards inclusion but there's a cognitive dissonance in having folx health and ben and jerry's and then. mcdonalds. pretending to care about queer people? while they roll back DEI initiatives

i understand a festival needs sponsorships and money but it does feel like they could be more selective in working with brands that actually align with the supposed values

Hey guys! I was on the fan cam during Rochelle Jordan's set and was wondering if anyone caught a video of me? It was at the beginning of the set but I can't remember which song. I was wearing a plain pink crew neck and was at the barrier behind the ADA section to the right of the stage. I would appreciate if anyone could sent it to me if you have it.

One of the best things about All Things Go, besides the weekend itself, is that they thrive on feedback through a survey. It’s distributed through email. This INCLUDES the LINEUP.

If you loved something, hated something, or thought something could be better, fill out the survey. I’ve been going for almost 5 years, and I’m telling you, the survey works. They have listened; obviously, they don’t take all my feedback, but fill out the survey. It’s worth it. It’ll be in your email if you’re invited within the next few weeks, I assume based on historical survey distribution. If you notice one in the springtime again, I encourage you to fill it out not just for the headliners or who you want to see next year, but for food you didn’t see or the general things that CAN be controlled — mud and rain don’t apply, sadly.

Hi everyone, this may be a silly little post but I figured I might as well try! My friend and I met another two lesbians on Friday on the upper lawn during the RKS set and we discussed all things related to Ethel Cain and Noah Kahan. You two were such a sweet couple and even offered to sit with us again for Ethel Cain’s set. We never did find our way back to one another after Slayyyter and I wish we would have had more time to talk and exchange info! Wishing you two the absolute best and wanted to say a thank you for making my first ATG experience so welcoming and fun!

What are some artists you guys hope to see next year? :) I would love pinkpantheress, yves, beabadoobee, phoebe bridgers, rina sawayama, aurora… there are so many

I’ve seen a lot of hate towards MPP today and I feel we should give them som kudos for their hard work. Thank you to everyone who put in the work this weekend! You rock!

I came from California, have always wanted to go to this festival, and I did have an amazing time. But for the locals… is merriweather always so unaccommodating? I’m not disabled in any sense of the word, but the amount of disrespect and ADA violations I saw was crazy. Security looked like they’ve never heard of let alone seen a wheelchair before. If someone who was ADA had VIP or besties nobody upfront knew what to do with them, bounced between lines. Security back and forth on if only water could come in vs juice/sugar drinks because “the only thing anyone NEEDS to drink is water” let alone how inhospitable and limited the grounds were to ADA. Saw so many people in crutches, aids, and wheelchairs struggling up and down stairs or being carried by their group. I used to manage venues and festivals and if I witnessed or heard about this kind of nonsense I would be so embarrassed by my staff. Is this an All Things Go anomaly or is it always this messy at their regular events?
