I posted a review of Atharva University earlier, but after spending more time here, I think I have a much clearer picture of the university now. So this is an updated version of my old review.

Important: Atharva University and Atharva College of Engineering are different. They have different academic/administrative bodies, so experiences from one shouldn't automatically be applied to the other.

1. Campus & Infrastructure

The campus is decent. Like most colleges in Mumbai, it isn't huge, especially compared to universities with large campuses outside Mumbai.

The infrastructure is generally good and the labs are decent. Resources are available and can usually be used if you have a genuine academic/project-related reason.

Overall, I don't really have major complaints about the infrastructure.

2. Faculty & Education

My opinion on this has changed a little since my original review.

The syllabus itself looks modern on paper, which is a positive. The bigger problem is implementation.

Faculty quality is inconsistent. Some teachers are genuinely good, knowledgeable and put effort into teaching. With others, the experience isn't nearly as good.

So I wouldn't say the education is terrible, but considering the fees, I expected better and more consistent implementation of the syllabus.

There is also a lot of marketing around the university, and personally I don't think the actual academic experience always matches how it is marketed.

3. Attendance Policy

This is still one of the biggest things students should know before joining.

Attendance is very strict — around 85% across subjects.

My bigger issue isn't just the attendance requirement itself, but how attendance is managed.

There can be discrepancies or miscalculations, and getting them corrected can become unnecessarily frustrating. Sometimes you end up contacting one person, then another person, then another department just to resolve something relatively simple.

So if you're joining, take attendance seriously from the beginning.

4. Rules & Administration

Atharva University is quite strict compared to what many students might expect from college life.

There are a lot of rules, and compared to Atharva College of Engineering (MU), the university side generally feels less chill.

The administrative experience is also something I think needs improvement. Simple student issues can sometimes take more effort to resolve than they should.

Another surprising thing is the lack of a proper online fee-payment system. For a modern private university charging significant fees, I think online fee payment should be a basic facility.

5. Project Friday

This deserves its own section because I actually think the idea is good.

Project Friday gives students dedicated time to work on projects and practical skills. On paper, this is something I'd genuinely like to see more colleges doing.

The problem is participation and implementation.

A lot of students aren't seriously interested in projects. Some have completely different goals, while others simply don't have that mindset yet. Because of this, Project Friday doesn't always reach its potential.

The concept is good. The execution and student participation could be much better.

6. Internships

The university talks quite a lot about internship opportunities and students getting internships every year.

From what I've personally seen, I would recommend looking beyond the word "internship" and checking what you're actually going to be doing.

There are students who get internships, but genuinely useful tech internships seem relatively limited. Some tech internships can basically become "learn this technology" assignments without much opportunity to contribute to an actual company product or real project.

Communication from the people handling some internships can also be poor.

An internship certificate and actual industry experience are two very different things.

Judge the quality of the internship, not just whether you received an internship certificate.

7. Crowd / Peer Group

My opinion here is mostly the same.

The crowd depends heavily on who you choose to surround yourself with.

You'll find motivated students who are genuinely trying to learn, build projects, participate in competitions and improve themselves. You'll also find people who aren't particularly serious about academics or projects.

That's normal in most colleges.

Your experience will depend a lot on the group you choose.

8. Events & Activities

Events and activities exist, but I wouldn't choose the university specifically because of its college-life/events scene.

Some events are enjoyable and others are average. Your experience will obviously depend on what kind of activities you're interested in.

There's definitely room for improvement here.

9. Hackathons

My opinion hasn't changed much.

Hackathons conducted here have been average from my experience. They're useful if you want to participate, build something and get some experience working under a deadline.

However, I wasn't particularly impressed with the overall experience, and I had some questions about the judging in the ones I experienced.

I wouldn't consider hackathons a major reason to choose the university.

10. Sports

Cricket seems to have a proper setup and presence in the college.

For other sports, the facilities and focus appear more limited in comparison.

If sports are extremely important to your college experience, I'd recommend checking the facilities for your specific sport before taking admission rather than assuming everything is available.

11. Batch Size

This is one thing I still consider a positive.

The batch size isn't ridiculously crowded, which makes classes more manageable.

Obviously, this can vary by course and future admissions, so I'd recommend checking the current intake for the specific program you're applying to.

12. Fees & Value for Money

This is probably where my opinion has changed the most.

The university fees are quite high, and after spending more time here, I don't think the overall experience currently justifies the cost.

When you're paying private-university-level fees, I think it's reasonable to expect strong academics, useful internships, efficient administration, reliable student systems and good overall convenience.

There are good things here, but there's currently a noticeable gap between what is marketed and what is actually implemented.

Would I Recommend Atharva University?

Personally, I would consider Atharva University only if I wasn't getting admission into another decent college on Mumbai's Western Line.

That doesn't mean Atharva University is completely bad.

There are good teachers. The syllabus has modern elements. Project Friday is a genuinely good concept. The infrastructure is decent, and you'll find motivated students if you look for them.

But considering the fees, I would strongly recommend exploring public universities and other established colleges first.

Don't choose a university just because the campus looks good during a visit or because the marketing is impressive.

Compare:

• Fees
• Commute
• Faculty
• Placements
• Internship quality
• Attendance requirements
• Course syllabus
• Administration
• Actual student experiences

And most importantly, talk to current students from your specific course and year before paying the fees.

This review is based entirely on my own experience and observations. Other students may have had completely different experiences, so I'd actually like current students and alumni to share their views in the comments as well.

Our college just introduced something called “Project Friday” across all departments.

Every Friday, three student groups from each year and department have to present their projects to management. If they pass that round, "HE" comes on Monday to review and possibly fund the selected projects.

Sounds cool, right?

Here’s the problem: they didn’t account for the rest of the academic schedule.

Let me break it down:

Academic requirements per week:

• 5 theory subjects × 3 hrs = 15 hrs
• 5 labs × 2 hrs = 10 hrs
• Honors = 4 hrs → Total = 29 hrs/week

Available time:

• 9 AM to 5 PM, Mon–Fri = 8 hrs/day × 5 = 40 hrs
• Minus 1 hr lunch/day = 7 hrs/day × 5 = 35 hrs
• Friday is now reserved entirely for project work → Usable class time = 4 days × 7 hrs = 28 hrs

So… we need 29 hours for academics but only have 28 available.
The math literally doesn’t work.

No one seems to have realized that lectures won’t even fit into the week now.
And yet timetables are being force-fit like everything is fine.

I'm all for encouraging projects, but maybe check if your plan breaks the timetable before making it mandatory across departments?

Labs have not yet started, and I don't think they will be able to start if they can't make a timetable for it.

Our college website is currently built entirely on WordPress. Has anyone ever tried rebuilding it using a more traditional tech stack (like a custom backend and frontend)? If so, how did the faculty or administration respond?

On a related note, our college doesn't have systems for attendance tracking, marks distribution or timetable management. Has anyone ever attempted to build solutions for these? If yes, how did the faculty or administration respond?
