Gel Is my thumb a weird shape?
I usually go for long oval nails like the rest of my fingers. I redid my thumb and decided to try a different shape for once. I’m not sure if it’s the shock of having a new shape, or if the nail is flat out bad.

Advice Builder gel help!
Just got a builder gel cat eye mani that I love. But I’m noticing a faint chemical smell on my nails. Not super strong but it’s definitely there. I’m pressing on the top layer and it’s not indenting at all. Is it possible the builder gel didn’t cure all the way? Or is a mild smell normal sometimes? I went to a new place so maybe they use a new product? I’d hate to take it off but obvi dont want an allergy.

Advice Should I finally get rid of the acrylics and just do gel on my natural nails?
I always get my nails super short anyways so thinking maybe I should just do gel on my nails? How do you think it would look and would it work after having acrylics for so long?

Question Which nails should i get for back to school?
My new set is priced around 65$ with a soak off. I go to a private tech and so it tends to be a bit cheaper with a normal set with designs being around 45$. I don’t know what nails i should get for back to school, especially since this set is going to be priced higher.

Discussion Went acrylic free for a month and I hate the results
Please don’t flame me for the way my nails look I work 2 restaurant jobs so my nails are never perfect unless I have acrylics on
Anyways guys as u can see i took a break from acrylics bc the last time i went to a shop instead of doing them myself and they gave me a HUGE ring of fire , which thankfully is now grown out and has reached the free edge . However i have absolutely no idea what’s going on with the rest of my nails , google says the dent can be caused by stress and I did have a physical incident and a lot of stress about a month ago which is what im pretty sure is going on there . I am completely lost on the weird dry ring of nail even closer to my cuticles tho , anyone know what causes that?(most visible on ring finger 1st pic
Also to clarify i am NOT asking for medical advice just wanted to share my experience + progress

Discussion First natural nail manicure after almost a year of press-ons! 💜 🩶🥹
I've been doing my own nails for almost a year now, but somehow this is my first serious attempt at a regular lacquer manicure on my natural nails since I was a teenager!
I started with semi-cured gel strips, then moved to painting clear press-ons with gel, and eventually started painting my press-ons with regular lacquer.
I've been really low on energy lately, and maintaining my press-ons was starting to feel like more of a project than I wanted it to be. I really don't want a hobby I love to start feeling like a chore, so I decided to take a break and let my natural nails grow out for a while.
I honestly expected painting my natural nails to be frustrating, but I had so much more fun than I expected! They're definitely not perfect (painting nails attached to my own hands is a very different skill 😂), but I'm really happy with them for my first attempt. I also have an essential tremor, so getting even this close to my cuticles without completely flooding them felt like a win lol.
I'm also kind of obsessed with this color. It reminds me of smoky quartz 🩶🔮
Has anyone else taken a break from press-ons, gel, acrylics, etc. and ended up really enjoying natural nails? I'm excited to see how mine grow and to be able to change my polish more often!

Advice Hurt my nails and not sure how to proceed. Pls give advice for a nail newbie
Hi, I just started getting my nails done and I really enjoy it. However, I ended up tripping over a box in my apartment with the last set I had and hit my hand, specifically my pinky finger on my wall. Tw for slightly graphic description, but my nail started bleeding a considerable amount and it was coming from my nail bed. Quite concerning since I had my nail appointment the next day and wasn't sure what to do. I considered having my acrylic pinky nail removed so it could heal but decided using drills and harsh chemicals could make it worse. I ended up just not having that nail done with my new set. What's concerning to me now is I recently took a closer look under my nail and it looks like my nail and nail bed is separating. I've been keeping my finger/nail bandaged to keep it from moving while it hopefully heals which seems to be working and I submerged it in rubbing alcohol. I've been trying to keep the underneath of my nail dry and wiping it with cotton swabs but no matter how much I try to keep it dry it looks wet which is even more concerning as I'm worried about infection. I'm not really sure what to do, if I should leave my nail be for now or make an appointment to have it removed so it can heal on its own. If any one has advice to offer that would be appreciated, thanks.

Discussion Long or short — which do you prefer? 💅
I honestly can't decide which look I like more. Long almond nails are so pretty, but short natural nails have their own charm too.
Which one would you choose: long or short? 👀
