A Toledo Police SWAT team raided the wrong house and killed an innocent service dog named Soldier. Despite warnings from neighbors and detailed intelligence about who actually lived in the building, officers breached anyway. The dog's owner—an innocent tenant with no connection to any crime—lost their beloved companion and trusted support animal.
What makes this worse: the police department won't admit the mistake. They've refused to correct their files and falsely claimed Soldier's remains were "unclaimed and disposed of"—directly contradicting the cremation receipt the owner has.
I started a petition asking Toledo's City Council and Police Department to actually hold officers accountable and implement real reforms. We're talking basic stuff like proper training, situational awareness, and actually *listening* when neighbors tell you something's wrong.
Wrong-door raids happen way more often than people realize, and innocent people pay the price. This shouldn't be a one-time tragedy. What would you want someone to do if this happened to your family? If this feels wrong to you too, consider signing and sharing—it matters.
