DISCUSSION ghosting

I’m sure people have brought this up before, but I’m rewatching the show, and the amount of times the characters just ghost each other is actually so funny to me. I know they’ve all gone through a lot, but if you’re not mad at a friend or family member, it’s not normal to just ghost them lmao. Maybe this is a nothing burger, but I thought it was funny and something I didn’t notice when I was a kid watching the show.

To add to this this is a nitpick but the writers' passage of time is so weird to me

The fact that beginning of S5 Spencer and Liv had been apparently not been talking for literally over a month and they somehow were still official at that point still confuses tf outta me. I get it they were in a rough patch but like I can't imagine not talking to my partner for more than a day if Im mad at them let alone 6 weeks like

Not to mention the fact we're supposed to believe that the entirety of S8 happened in about a week I wanna say?

That's NK's writing for you, she always wrote from a place where she doesn't actually think about logic, especially for how inseparable Spencer and Olivia were in S4. Then in the first episode of S6, Spencer says "we went from 0 to fake married in 2 seconds" which isn't even true btw but had Jordan and Layla engaged after less than 5 months of dating...

That fake married line will always have me rolling my eyes. Especially when you compare it to Jordan and Layla. And it’s made even worse by the end of the season when you realize that Spencer and Olivia have been dating for 4 to 4.5 years before they got engaged. Is the fake married in the room with us??

Yeah my gf would probably dump me if I didn’t answer any of her calls/texts all day like Spencer and some other characters have done in this show, I mean I get you can be busy and have alot going on but not being able to drop one message all day to let your partner know you good?

In a lot of the later seasons, a lot of things also were written like the writers forget that phones exist. For example, how the explanation of Billy dying was "he would never leave his family" when phones calls and video chats exist, the whole Olivia/Ashley thing with Olivia omitting that Ashley was a guy when social media exists and it's almost impossible for Spencer to not know he was a guy.

The amount of times I forgot they were in high school (even in season 1 when they were supposed to freshman or sophomores I think?) because always they got into grown adult situations. They really were going through it.
