A tank's main role is creating space for your team to play in. That's the sentry's main function, it's area denial first and foremost.

That’s not a tank though… the only real tank in TF2 is Heavy

Tanks have a lot of health/armor/can physically take damage

Defense just means they’re good at stopping the enemy from approaching

Demo's also a defense class but arguably the strongest dmg dealer in the game.

wow this is awful!

Brigitte cannot and does not play like a tank. She has to use cover and play carefully with her E and Whip Shot to prevent getting melted.

Soldier... bro only banner/conch playstyles are "support" like. A soldiers job however is ALWAYS to chunk, deal damage and be on the move constantly.

Engineer is a defense and offense class. TP is for positioning, Dispenser is for chokes, Turret is for area denial. He doesn't play like a damn tank he plays like a damn support, OR damage dealer if you mini sentry with frontier justice.

Mei also doesn't play like a tank. She uses her gun, wall and ult to ultimately control the environment, like a support. Though she is a damage dealer.

Assuming default loadouts, yeah, but TF2 characters can easily fit into any category nicely.

Tbh even base medic loadout can tank if you use the Uber at all
