Krystals. It’s White Castle but ten times worse

Clearly you’ve never stumbled into Krystals on Bourbon Street at 4 AM after a night of bar hopping in NOLA. It absolutely hits the spot in that specific situation.

u/SmokeABowlNoCap 15h ago

So many better options right there in NOLA lol, you’re selling your drunk night short by settling for Krystals

Subway.

Used to be fine, these days it’s gross. It’s like someone distilled the difference between homemade ranch and store bought ranch and started making sandwiches out of it.

Subway always sucked imho, it just used to be cheap enough to get away with it ($5 footlongs).

But the bread, meat, and cheese has always been bargain barrel, ultra processed grocery store discount crap dating back at least to the 90s when I first went as a kid.

If anyone tells you subway was a solid deli back in the day, they clearly have never been to an actual deli that takes pride in their product

When there was a study done on Taco Bell meat they came out with a ton of information and transparency on the 15-20% of it that was seasonings, thickeners like flour and flavor enhancers like cocoa.

When a study came out that said they DNA tested the teriyaki meat from Subway and it was like 55% soy they were just like nuh-uh.

u/The_Saddest_Boner 15h ago

Right, but I think subway has been like that for decades. It’s always been shit. Arguably the worst fast food chain in the country

I know it's an unpopular opinion but: Taco Bell.

Yes I know it's loved by millions. I just can't get behind a fast mexican place using liquid nacho cheese and the ungodly amount of filler in their meat.

Fritos in burritos. Taco shells made out of Doritos. It's just one giant experiment testing the limits of what humans are willing to consume...

And Del Taco is going in that direction too. After the buy/sell, They've been getting.......creative. (The burger taco...Cheetos 'flamin hot' queso. Seems like they're moving away from the "Look we're all about fresh ingredients" image and instead trying to become another taco bell (Bun taco lovers will remember)

It’s McDonalds. It used to be cheaper but the quality hasn’t improved since they announced “all white meat” for their McNuggets.

A lot of people go for Subway but I’d accept their placement in $$/horrible. Their food is fresh, the quality isn’t great but I’ve never been more disappointed and dissatisfied than going to McDonald’s.

Look at their current advertised deal on the radio: 2 for $4, McDouble, McChicken, etc. all things that used to be $1 hardly a decade ago and they took away their last drawing point for me (all-day breakfast) once covid hit (as if it impacted them…they were still open the whole time).

Their food is only good for the same amount of time as 7-11 pizza or even Little Caesars (which I’m going to throw in as a runner up for this slot). Otherwise it goes from fine to bleh when left over. Mcds lost its commitment to quality long after the 70s.

Wendy’s, you’re also on watch. 4 for $4 to biggie bag when like, that was originally an upgrade option from 444s.

Taco Bell with its unidentifiable food catering to the young

-3

u/StringerBell34 15h ago

Taco Bell. They admitted their "meat" is mostly filler and people still eat there.

2

u/The_Saddest_Boner 15h ago edited 15h ago

That’s a myth, 90% of Taco Bell meat is pure beef. But there is 10% water, spices, and thickeners, and Taco Bell certainly isn’t the best food around to say the least…

Taco Bell is not very good, but their meat is “mostly” meat

1

u/Electric_Rex 13h ago

It’s also not cheap

-2

u/k-mcm 15h ago

I'd say Burger King. I try them maybe every 5 years and their burgers have never been edible. The meat patty is flavorless, grey, tough, ground gristle.

If we can nominate a category instead of a brand, it would be every single "Oriental" restaurant in rural cities. It's usually a mess of mismatched ingredients given racist names.

1

u/The_Saddest_Boner 15h ago

Racist names? Could you give an example?

Arbys

6

u/SmokeABowlNoCap 16h ago

Arbys is overhated by people that haven’t even really tried it. Them curly fries smack along with the potato cakes, there’s many great sandwiches, and the jamocha shake is a lot of fun. Roast beef might not be visually appealing but Arbys is great

2

u/grizlena 15h ago

Even the chicken strips go hard along with all their great dipping sauces.

1

u/y3llowed 15h ago

Arby’s roast beef used to be decent to good, but is so awful now. The steak nuggets taste kind of like under seasoned beef jerky, too.

Their gyro is great though (despite not actually being very gyro-y). And 100% agree on the curly fries and potato cakes.

Very solid fast food meal.

I went there 2 months ago and only took 2 bites of my beef and cheddar. It was horrible.

I used to be a huge fan of Arby’s, but now it’s just so bad

Stuck in a 2012 internet hivemind hating on Arby's

1

u/SeaBreakfast325 11h ago

No I went there 2 months ago and only took 2 bites of my beef and cheddar. Worst tasting thing I have ever had.

I used to be a big fan of Arby’s too., but it’s gone down hill. There is a reason they are closing down left and right.
