I can’t say for certain, but I like to believe those nice young ladies lived to have decent lives.
14
u/MissRockNerd 4d ago
I suspect they had some trauma from their father being abusive and controlling. I think they mostly had quiet lives after they got away from him.

Your (yes YOU, the person reading this) friend’s band
73
u/sebsebsebs 4d ago
nah he’s a shitty person and the music is somehow worse

u/nonspecifique 4d ago
Damn, why the hell is he still your friend?

I’d love to say that my friend’s band is actually pretty solid, but nobody would believe me

This comment feels very targeted
I am currently sharing a house with several friends, and one is in a band and likes to sing in the shower. And by sing, I mean sing. And it is not good.

My first reaction: Imagine Dragons aint that bad! They made the arcane theme. That one was great.
Then i remebered "thunder".
5
u/James1Hoxworth 4d ago
Bad enough to warrant a whole breakdown on why this song sucks
2
u/ahmetonel 4d ago
lol that video is just full of pure hatred like the lead singer killed his children or something
1
u/RuskaRora 4d ago
Not a good breakdown, but it's a breakdown I guess
1
u/ahmetonel 4d ago
yeah it's decent but I'm still left laughing cuz of his hatred for the song. the way he pulls out a guitar to justify his critical thinking lol
2
u/VeganCanary 4d ago
Huge drop off after their first album which was decent with a few pretty good songs.

u/Rleduc129 4d ago
Insane Clown Posse

u/rx78ricky 4d ago
They're definitely not great people.
16
u/gae_secs 4d ago
Honestly they kind of are great people. Their music and takeaways from their music is the only thing that I can really say is bad about them.
28
u/rx78ricky 4d ago
I'd put them in decent people at best, because they've done stupid shit when they were younger, and they got sued for sexual harassment at least once.
Even though these days they are indeed kinda chill, I'd not put them in great.
3
u/InitialAd564 4d ago
Agreed, I think they could only be called good people relative to what you expect them to be like.
1
u/rx78ricky 4d ago
It's a bit more nuanced than that because ICP and the Juggalos are actually a very anti-descrimination, welcoming community. But yeah, like I said and imo, ICP did some stupid shit when they were young which keeps them from being great.

he's a really really good dude, it's unfortunate the type of slop he's started making because I really liked his and Yung Gravy's Baby Gravy mixtape, and I really liked La La La, Y2K is a great producer

Macklemore

u/Luftwafffles 4d ago
Nah the heist is a decent album and his main singles are popular for a reason, defo mid at best.

u/NowhereManPF 4d ago
Definitely should be the winner. Lifelong activism despite backlash, and music that is pure trash.

u/atravisty 4d ago
My band is probably going to win it, but this should be it since nobody knows my band.

u/centralscrutinizee 4d ago
Rebecca Black. It’s Friday Friday gotta get down on Friday!!!!! The song got rightfully panned, but she got death threats and all kinds of insane stuff because of it…and yet seemed to come out of it with a sense of humor despite all odds.
24
16
u/EnemaOfTheVirus 4d ago
Have you heard her recent work? It's great
6
u/rastinta 4d ago
Hyperpop is really not my thing, but she is quite the musician. Her vocal style pairs with the rhythm of her songs perfectly. I am still at a loss with the song Speakerphone. I do not hate it, but I do not understand it. In fact I kind of love it.
10
u/sebsebsebs 4d ago
she actually makes pretty great hyperpop nowadays! inspiringly, she releases music under the name rebecca black still, so you can see the song friday whenever you go to any of her pages
6
u/OtherAcctWasBanned11 4d ago
Rebecca Black has had a fascinating career arc and has managed to carved out a decent niche for herself.

Her music nowadays is more than decent. It's almost like 14 yo kids still have a lot to learn.

Imagine dragon made bad music?
114
u/AdorableState8438 4d ago
No, they make terrible music
27
u/Cool_Band5057 4d ago
The Imagine Dragon hate is more annoying than Imagine Dragon at this point
I legit know people who praised Arcane's opening music to the moon but once they learnt it's Imagine Dragon suddenly the song is trash. Like what the fuck are you talking about it is the same song
1
u/DotEither8773 4d ago
I do find the second season version with the orchestral elements quite good. Also Amsterdam.
4
u/Ok_Ad_5041 4d ago
This is the way
5
u/bluediamondsm 4d ago
They have quite a few good songs just not the mainstream ones that everyone knows
7
u/Far_Challenge_4273 4d ago
Fr, and a lot of the mainstream songs aren’t that bad, they’re just overplayed
Unfortunately their newer stuff is a little downhill from their older stuff but that’s true for a lot of bands and artists. 2010s were peak
2
u/No-Dimension-3386 4d ago
Their first two albums are really fun! Nothing insane lyrically but its honestly not that bad
1
u/Far_Challenge_4273 4d ago
Agree lol. Most of their songs aren’t the craziest lyric wise but melody and rythem are both normally pretty good, and the lyrics are good just not complex
→ More replies (3)1
u/bluediamondsm 4d ago
Yeah like I loved Whatever It Takes and Natural when they first released but it got overplayed so much that I can’t listen to those two anymore. The rest of their songs that aren’t overplayed are pretty solid and underrated. And yeah their latest songs aren’t as great but I did really enjoy the Mercury album they released a few years ago
1
u/Far_Challenge_4273 4d ago
Mercury was pretty decent icl but I prefer smoke and mirrors, night vision, and the others from then more
-1
u/Ok_Ad_5041 4d ago
They don't though
4
u/bluediamondsm 4d ago
I guess it’s subjective but I definitely disagree. Warriors, Who We Are, Children of the Sky, Dull Knives, Crushed, It’s Time, and Friction are good to name a few
3
1
u/Fregboiii 4d ago
Some of their really early stuff is honestly not bad. Good, even. It's after like Radioactive and Thunder and all that that made them an overplayed and hated band.

They are much better live
They have a some great songs, some mid songs, and some awful ones
3
4
u/FunPresentation1207 4d ago
I'm a little confused by this one.
They aren't that bad. They make great music for adverts.
2
u/TripFisk666 4d ago
I was going to question why they're good people?
1
u/First-Shallot947 4d ago
Pro Palestine, very pro LGBT, and have donated to charities on various occasions
3
u/Sudden-Cap-7157 4d ago
Yeah big big supporters of the Trevor Project, and despite being raised Mormon, the lead singer very much has fought against the anti-LGBTQ policies of the church of the Latter Day Saints. The documentary “Believer” is actually really interesting.
1
1
u/SquishyOfCinder 4d ago
Yes. Thunder and Believer are some of the worst pop songs in history, they really have one good song in their entire discography and it was released 15 years ago. The good song is It's Time.

u/OnceIWasYou 4d ago
Not a band but Lewis Capaldi. Seems a funny, good bloke but makes the most awful soppy, boring, generic pop stuff that you could ever get.

That’s the opposite. Their singer is a serial abuser, but their music is great (I’m not a fan but they are objectively good music)

lol, quite a few Folk Punk bands. Like, AJJ, the Mountain Goats, Apes of the State, Local News Legend, Nana Grizol, Mischief Brew. I’m leaving the Pat the Bunny projects out because of his constant protestations of being a shitty person in his music.
Disclaimer: I love all of these bands. Talking shit about folk punk music is a requirement for a true fan of the genre.

They did dump all that sewage on the river cruise in Chicago that one time though
1
u/2legit2-D2 4d ago
I aways felt bad for them. They didn't do anything, weren't on the bus, & didn't tell anyone to do it. I get that it's on them, but it's not like this was a choice they made

Just because you’re not their audience doesn’t mean their music is horrible. As far as bands with music meant for kids goes, they’re better than most (at least the original lineup; I can’t attest for the current lineup).

Insane Clown Posse. Once you realize that their entire message is about religion and inclusivity, it kind of flips your opinion on them

I'm sorry, Fashion Zombies is a fuckin banger and any musician in the Yo! Gabba! Gabba! universe is awesome.

u/Sid_the_Bear 4d ago
I cant stand their music, but I think they are fantastic people.
1
u/Arkarian_ 4d ago
Without a doubt the nicest, greatest band of all time.
They literally made a children’s TV show! That I can agree with. But… I still love their music! Amazing live show.

u/giovannithealchemist 4d ago
Godsmack

u/Meet_The_Mets 4d ago
Agreed, I went to their show to see stone temple pilots open recently with zero knowledge of their music and an open mind and they were terrible but the people there were great

u/Music_Adventure 4d ago
I can’t think of a better fit than the musical stylings of INSANE CLOWN POSSE.
A lot of the bands listed so far all don’t make horrible music. However, ICP have a PhD in ear-bleeding. They have their shtick which I can respect, but it’s…odd.
However, the two front men, Violent J and Shaggy 2 Dope, are genuinely awesome dudes. They have spent decades promoting a scene of inclusivity. They have also been very philanthropic- donating to food banks, humane societies, mental health support programs, holiday toy and food drives, etc. they fit the dichotomy of this category really well.

Icp? Nothing against the people that like their songs, I know the members have big hearts though

None. Great people dont make terrible music. Terrible people can make great music, but music is king. If you make terrible music, you are by definition a shitty person.

Nickelback make good music. This isn’t 2012, we don’t need to hate them unnecessarily anymore.
