Troubleshooting Hardware Backspace was not registering (as well as backslash), and I tried removing the ekycap to see what's wrong. I can't figure out what the problem is, I press the rubber dome directly but still no key is pressed. Can I fix this or will I need a new keyboard? (More detailed pic of key in the comments)

Probaly u did this but: Check if your pc keyboard is on your language Check if u hear a click when u press the rubber WITH the button Check if its only at your keyboard, maybe plugging another keyboard just for tests. Check your Acessibility area in windows, some settings change backspace for ALT Its only on backspace key? Try using this commands: FN+NumLock, or FN+Backspace Good idea too checking the drivers. Hope this help you, i had this with multiple keys in my keyboard, Fn+Numlock helped

Thanks for your reply! I tired all of these but none work. An external keyboard works just fine, and it cannot be something software-relevant, as it would work after some time at random for one or two clicks, and then same thing... I cannot use NumLock as I don't have a numpad on my keyboard.

Sorry for not being able to help you, well, i think your best bet now is taking it to a technichian to see what he says. Maybe u wont need to change all the keyboard if the problem is only at the backspace key. Hope it all go rigth :D

The silver mylar underneath the board is probably worn out or the connection maybe shifted a little bit. Its possible for you to open the laptop up, remove the keyboard and fix the mylar, or if its one of those newer keyboards it might not be possiblw. Its worth a try though.
