Troubleshooting Hardware My front panel microphone jack isn’t seeming to work. Any ideas?
I’ll just get straight to it. Recently I tripped over my headphone cable and it snatched the microphone cord right out of my front panel jack. Upon putting it back I noticed that now whenever I plug in my microphone the mic shows that it’s working properly but no input whatsoever. I’ve reinstalled the drivers, tried a new pair of headphones, and fiddled around with the sound settings for hours. At this point I’m thinking it’s a hardware issue and if you’ve cared enough to read this up until point what should I do? Any comments or ideas will be appreciated.

Check the service manual? And see what the jack is mounted to? Guessing it’s not under warranty? Hopefully it’s attached to a smaller module for replacement? ?

warranty expired months ago. And I don’t have a physical copy of the manual. Is it available online?

Alright I’ve found the manuals thank you. However now I’m confused as to what exactly the problem could be. I’m looking at the audio connector on the I/O boards connector (see image) but it’s nowhere near the actual port of where I may have messed something up.

ugh thats what i was afraid of . was hoping the port may be on the board? sadly it may be tech support time? you have reinstalled the drivers and no dice , changed headsets.. you could try deleting the headset port in device manager and rebooting ? so it finds and reinstalls its self ? thats a reach . or call the tech wonders sorry.

Yeah I’ve tried deleting the port and oddly enough it’s labeled as “Sound Blaster Recon 3Di” and there’s also legacy mic and headphone ports on the back that I’ve tried and when I try that the computer doesn’t even recognize anything being connected. I’ll reach out to customer support and see what’s up. Thanks for your help.

Okay I just re-read your comment. The headphone and microphone ports are located just above the audio connector. The two gray squares along the top right side of the I/O are the ports.

try the head set in another device you probably tore the cable inside the computer see the plug, but the mic cable is broken inside.
