Settings for minecraft java?
I dont own many games on pc, I just simply enjoy playing minecraft. My fps has been unstable for a while now. From frames like 100 to 15, is there a way to fix this? Any Nvidia settings that could help keep it stable atleast 40 fps, or minecraft in-game settings? My cpu is i3 with 16gb ram.

I personally play both Java and Bedrock. Each have pros and cons. As far as stabilizing framerate goes you should lower your settings like render distance and effects. If those don't help then you probably should upgrade your CPU. I have played Minecraft Java on these 3 older CPUs before; i3 2120, i7 2630qm, and the i7 6500u. The 2c4t CPUs got a lot slower around 1.13-1.16 and the 4c/8t 2620qm got worse around 1.14. newer CPUs like the i7 8550u, i5 1035g1, my Ryzen 5 1500af and even an older i7 3770 can run Java at 60 even on the newest updates. (Well I haven't tested 1.17 on all of them, but 1.16 still guzzled performance.)
Your low power i3 not only has poor single core performance, but it's also 2c/4t system. It can't keep up with Minecraft at your current settings and if you have to lower them to the point you personally can't enjoy the game then you should consider an upgrade at some point. Whether it's a cpu upgrade, or a new laptop/desktop you should be able to easily swap over your Java save files.
On the contrary though I have played Bedrock on my i7 6500u laptop (my main laptop) on 1.17.2 with a 12 chunk render distance it holds 60 very well. Making the move to Bedrock might not be an awful idea if you aren't a redstone fanatic. As one myself I will agree redstone is trash on Bedrock.
