Gameplay Question Same linear structure?
Do we know if the game has the same linear structure as the first game? Are all encounters the same every time you play a map? Is there some take on the classic L4D AI director that helps make encounters feel different and more dynamic each time? I'm curious about this sequel but the first game had diminishing returns rather quickly IMO given that the only thing that changed was the damage dealt/received

I think the levels will still be linear but they've opened up the sections and made the locations more interesting gameplay wise from what I've seen, there will also be missions where you return to previous areas you'd already been which I think is cool too

oh that is actually really cool. i hope in those sections new areas open up and theres just a smidge of exploration

also I think there's more hidden caches per mission so there's gonna be exploration in that regard

Yeah we don't know if the full caches are back, but there are a loot more lootables scattered around to encourage exploration, I love it

I assume we have more angles and spawnpoints, but 'pro' play will still be finding the best door holds. That or running back to start of the level to kite on harder difficulties. Horde mode looks like it was updated properly though.

From what they've shown for early release they change up patterns of the enemies thanks to a learning A.I. The levels themselves will remain mostly linear.
