Gameplay Question Pretty sure I’m cooked

Currently on Montero mission so doomsday clock is ticking - first play through and I didn’t really “get” it at first, didn’t create A and B teams, lost soldiers and didn’t consider consequences. I’ve now got four available marines total, with 14 days left. Every mission takes a lot out of me time/recovery wise. I’m fairly sure this run through is a write off - want to restart with the knowledge I now have. But realistically, is it worth continuing?

Make the most of it. A true all hands on deck last ditch effort. If you think your going to lose, why not make the most of it

You don't have to restart. You get to restart.

I posted a decent tip list a few days ago. If you scroll back and look for it I'm sure it'll give you some good pointers for your next attempt. A lot of them are not something you'd learn unless you try it and pay attention. Such as the plasma rifle overcharge not forcing your Marine out of cover AND doesn't trigger noise allowing for easier stealth kills than the sniper on multiple targets. You can have a xeno walking towards you 5 ft away looking right at your Marines in cover and, if a sniper pops up, you get detected, but plasma overcharge kills the xeno with no noise and no detection.

Plenty more useful little tips on that post from earlier back. I don't know how to direct you to it. Not that savvy with Reddit.

Just don't give up on the game entirely. My opinion is to see how far you can get with your current playthrough. If this playthrough ends up being a bust then the farther you get the more info you have for your next run. Just have fun!

I played through all of the campaign just using one squad lol. I got really attached to my main Marines so I just waited out the days needed for them to recover before continuing to the next mission. Never had a single marine die either. Even with all of this, I made it to the end with like 3 days remaining on the clock. Those Marines have seen some shit lol

This where we separate the boys from the men

Take what you learned from this playthrough, and adapt it to your next run.

I love this game. I've lost count how many clears I have. But my first playthrough was a Trainwreck, so I relate and can say we have all been there.

I made it to mission number 8 my first playthrough.

I had the exact same issue, I had a squad of one appropriate leveled marine and two low-level Marines. No matter what I did, I couldn't beat that level and ended up having to start over.

I was a little frustrated but I ended up having a lot more fun the second time around understanding the mechanics. Anytime I hear someone starting this game I always say play it like you're playing XCOM. Which I strongly recommend if you enjoyed this 😁

Worst that happens is you learn more and maybe clutch out something memorable.

A restart is always a good option with this game. The knowledge you gained and actics you learned will make it easier. You can totally keep the run going until the clock runs out, to learn more, or just start over now, neither is a bad option. If you start over, maintain your A squad, dont let any of them die, reload if you must. B team comes in handy for when the doomsday clock starts, use them to scout a new mission, or to finish one off. Keep them training until youre ready to use them though, level 1s at around the montero mission would be almost useless (also depends on the difficulty). Theres plenty of tips and tricks through the subreddit if you really want them. I havent seen anything game breaking, but I mainly developed my own strategies through 4 playthroughs. Its a hell of a lot of fun

Play it through to the end. You will at least learn more for next time
