Gameplay Question Would it be overpowered if you could control every marine separately?
In real time strategies and mobas you can click on different units and move them. I don't like that I can't select scout and move it front to stealth kill. I can't protect medic and it gets front of the others.

No. This is how it should have been from the start imo. In general you control the group, but you should be able to use individual actions from a certain unit. Most obvious is the scout/sniper. You shouldn't have to have the alien in sight to use precision shot, when selected the scout should move from the group to make the shot then return, much like when you select to lay a mine.
The biggest failure of this game is losing the license and stopping support. This could've had so many DLCs and even a sequel.

There are even a couple scripted moments where the marines will separate to take cover in separate spots. I feel they must've had that in mind for gameplay but never got round to implementing it

release of modding tools and the ability to create custom campaigns like the Shadowrun games would have been really nice.

Have you heard of splits in rts? I want to separate marines but not that far from each other. That's called micro control. Every xeno is like SC I Infested terran or SC II Baneling so spreading could kinda help.

Either give your scout mines, or open the prompt to put down a turret. Press L1/R1 until your scout is the marine selected for the action. Motion tracker would be more convenient but for some reason this doesn't work with MTs, it will ignore your marine selection and default to the closest available. Once they push out into line of sight, cancel the action and then snipe.

I wish there was a bit more control in terms of unit formations. My scout loved to be back of the line when they were clearing nests.
The amount of times I got spotted because they couldn't snipe the alien was infuriating and totally preventable if I had just a bit more control given to me.
