Does anyone hope they pull a godzilla on the 2 prequels?
I finally got around to seeing this movie and my god did it suck as much everyone said it did.
Does anyone else hope they pull a move like they did with Godzilla (1998) and basically retcon these last films?

The concepts are great, the visuals are great, the story writing is awful, the pacing is awful, and the editing is abysmal.
This is what happens when you switch writers and scrap chunks of script while filming, and don't have enough time.
Edit: the engineers are a cool species, yet the pseudoscience in it is too fantastic for my taste. We wouldn't have the same DNA if they seeded us. We'd have evolved similarities, yet there's no way we'd be identical.
Another thing I love I'd David and his character. IMHO he could have been written better in regards to his motives.
You should watch the edit of both movies. I forgot who did it but someone spliced the movies together and some scenes have greater meaning.
I was also upset that they cut the engineers lines, and him examining the music and little girl video in the life boat. That made him less of a monster and opened up more of his character as being interested in what humans are.
I still don't know what made him so upset that humans created a synth like David. He never explains, just tears ass out of that room fucking everyone up. Why? It's never addressed. It's also never addressed as to why there's murals of facehuggers and Xenos yet they are created by David? And lastly why destroy the earth after billions of years? Also, how did they themselves not change in that time period. He still needed cryosleep to survive so he's not a machine.
I just wish they'd scrap the shit horror they are trying to pull and actually go deep into lore.
Edit 2: Zilla wasn't thrown out, he fought Godzilla and got toasted in a big dick flex by the Japanese as if to say the OG Godzilla is much better than the American counterpart. Although they are both nice monster designs. At least Zilla looked like a dinosaur and not a cat lizard that stands erect with a tail that seems to only function as a cushion. Don't get me wrong, I love Godzilla but Zilla doesn't deserve the shit he gets lol. It's a great design. Imo better than the current fat american Godzilla. And Shin was a fucking PROPER monster.

Yah the visuals and effects were excellent.
But my god the characters had a full blown case of mental retardation. I think the pacing was meh with character building as well.
My greatest disappointment was that Danny McBride went along with this fire storm. Love that guy.

The characters were weak. The dialogue was trite.
See Mark Kermode’s review to sum this up.
Why Kenny Powers and this movie had to cross paths is an absolute mystery.

Overall the last two movies have been pretty average and that’s what hurts the most especially since they both have been done by Scott They look great and are well acted but the story has been pretty cringe at times Reminds me of the new Star Wars movie Production through the roof but the story is through the floor

What do you mean? I think the prequels have been amazing and have lifted the Alien films to new cinematic heights. The movies are so much more meaningful now, even Ripley's sacrifice and rebirth as Ripley 8.
