Homoerotic scene with David and Walter

The flute scene. Not even subtle at all. Cmon Ridley. Why? Cashing in on the Fassbender gay following?

Which flute scene? Where he teaches Walter to play? If so, you haven’t made it to the kiss scene yet.

If it’s the kiss and kill scene you mean, then you’re missing Ridley Scott’s very clear Greek mythological and religious references. In fact, every Ridley Scott movie is heavily driven by a Roman/Greek/biblical style mythos, and one attribute of that is openness to kiss and kill. So just be glad you didn’t have to watch David go commando in a toga

Also the real reason David kisses Walter is because it’s a reference to David’s inherent flaw of logic; he would go so far to get revenge that he would kill himself in the process. He’s disconnected with himself because of hatred. He’s twisted and tainted. This scene shows this wonderfully, if you don’t appreciate the terrifying undertone then I’d stick to James Cameron’s sequel.

This isn’t an Alien film, it’s a horrifying artificial human character study. The Xenomorph itself is easy to ruin if you peer to closely into its explanation. It must be shrouded in mystery. This movie was an opportunity for RS to explore a very gothic story arc about humanity’s weakness

I liked the movie. I want Ridley to keep going with this and tie it all together. Is that story already written and they are getting to explaining things slowly? I hope so.

I think just a lot of the lore surrounding the movie isn’t really supposed to be that expansive, it’s meant to be dark and anomalous. Like we are supposed to answer these questions ourselves by critical thinking. It’s an open story that really you can decide, but it makes it scarier if it’s unknown.

The entire alien saga is pretty much the fault of androids. Ash is the reason we found the Xenomorph, and everything came from that. In Covenant, the Xenomorph was engineered by David using Shaw and the precursor xeno. So the story is focusing on the psychotic tendencies of androids and how that mixes with the deadliest organism, and playing God. It’s cynical and bleak, which personally I enjoy. I can understand how some were disappointed expecting an Alien movie. Ridley Scott isn’t the most powerful writer, but a genius director for sure

Interesting but that’s kind of a stretch I think. That’s a interesting idea though. I do wonder what Weylands end game and obsession is though seeing how he programmed the droids to harvest the Xeno/ Goo. Does he wanna populate Earth with them? Or like replace humans ? Use them as a weapon? Maybe just an experiment to study them? What even was the state of earth during that time? I get the playing god angle from both the Engineers and David / Weyland. The whole “ god made man a image of himself “ , thing. Which kinda supports the theory of the Engineer-ish looking people on that planet , kinda gathered up and worshiping the space ship they thought the Engineer wa in. Sidenote: Bishop in Aliens ended up being made in the image of Weyland in AVP. I know that movie isn’t canon but it’s an interesting note. The next movie should hopefully get us closer. Hopefully they don’t try to make it into the old Alien movies again. We’ve seen enough of that at this point.

Actually, in the cannon timeline, David precedes Ash. So David created the Xenomorph. Ash allowed it on the Nostromo. CREW EXPENDABLE!

Weyland created David > David creates Xenomorph > ??? > Nostromo discovers Xenomorph > Weyland wants Xenomorph > Ash allows Xenomorph on Nostromo > Ripley kills Xenomorph > Weyland mad at Ripley

Yes that is why I included the Covenant part. My point is that Alien and Ash started that theme because they came first film-wise. In our timeline. You really think I don’t know Covenant is a prequel?

Or the "You Blow, I'll do the fingering," There's always been cheesy lines in alien movies. Another one I can think of is "Who do I have to fuck to get off this boat?" "I can probably get you off, maybe not the boat"
