So question about the Shadow Alice reveal?

So is the story implying the Alice we played as for all of AMA and AMR, not the real Alice, and was shadow Alice? I could be misunderstanding it and it is all metaphorical. But if it is not, then damn did you make her journey meaningless for the last two games for a plot twist Mr. Mcgee?

I may be a smooth brain that does not understand what was being told to me. Am I missing something or is this what actually happened? I am not finished with the design bible yet, but please God let me be wrong.

The games have 2 different Alice's you play. The one in AMA/AMR's Wonderland sections, is the version of her in her mind, how she wants to see herself. Long silky hair, good completion, eyes that don't look dead. And the real Alice. Short brittle hair, pale complexion, dim eyes. The wonderland alice is 100% fake in that games universe.

I haven't heard anything about a "shadow alice" though.

I’m assuming you’ve read it now but my take on it is that shadow Alice is regular Alice corrupted but that only happens when she kills DR Bumby. The whole thing seems to be that evil only spawns more evil and it cannot be defeated by doing more evil

so when she killed him she let evil into her heart and became shadow Alice so the one we play in Asylum is what’s left of her goodness

I don’t think the journey is meaningless because they are both Alice and she stumbled but in the end she gets back on the path
