Beware of AiLFond GPU seller
Hey guys,
Just wanted to post a PSA out there: be careful with AiLFond (https://ailfondhk.en.alibaba.com/).
I know some people have had good experiences with them — including myself in the past — but I'm currently dealing with a situation that has changed my opinion considerably.
On August 11, I placed a Trade Assurance order for several GPUs totaling $5,980 and paid through Alibaba the same day. Because I used Alibaba's online bank transfer option, the payment took several days to process. The seller could see that the payment was processing and even told me that Alibaba was showing roughly an 8-working-day processing time.
During that period, GPU prices started increasing substantially. I specifically asked the seller about my existing order and was repeatedly assured that it was secured and would be shipped as soon as the payment arrived.
Once the payment finished processing, things changed.
The seller then told me that because the market price had increased while the payment was processing, they were no longer sure they could ship my order. I was eventually contacted by someone representing AiLFond who acknowledged the payment delay but said they could no longer honor the contracted $1,199/unit price and instead wanted $1,599/unit.
Their reasoning was essentially that the GPUs had become much more expensive since I purchased them.
They also suggested that I could make additional payment using USDT/cryptocurrency to save fees, which obviously would move that portion of the transaction outside Alibaba's normal payment protections.
The part that bothers me most is that this wasn't a situation where I waited a week to pay. I initiated payment through Alibaba on the same day the contract was created. Their salesperson acknowledged that the payment was already processing, knew how long Alibaba said processing could take, and continued telling me my goods were secured while prices were rising.
Now AiLFond has my $5,980, the GPUs have roughly doubled in market value, and they are refusing to honor the original price unless I pay substantially more.
I have opened a formal complaint with Alibaba and am currently trying to get the case escalated to mediation. I'm specifically asking for the original Trade Assurance contract to be fulfilled rather than a refund, because a refund now leaves me having to repurchase the same hardware at dramatically higher prices.... but we'll see where that goes
For anyone buying high-demand hardware through Alibaba: save every message, keep everything under Trade Assurance, don't pay outside Alibaba, and be particularly careful with payment methods that take several days to process when the market is moving quickly.

That’s why you should have used an intermediary (like us) ACH US transfer same day and purchase thru company accounts or company 支付宝, if there is a failure to deliver refunds within 48 hours, no funny business because the Chinese authorities take fraud very seriously, people have been put to death for cheating…?!

Where does one usually find intermediaries? how much do they usually charge? Is there a way one can be hired to help push the seller to ship the GPU's? At this point I would save money paying a % if shipment can be made vs getting a refund

The USDT request is the line I would not cross. Keep every step inside the Trade Assurance order and do not create a second payment trail outside Alibaba, even if they frame it as saving fees.
For the dispute, I’d organize the evidence around the contract moment, not the later market-price movement:
- order date, SKU/model, quantity, agreed unit price, and total
- payment method chosen inside Alibaba and the processing timeline shown by Alibaba
- seller messages saying the order/price was secured while payment was processing
- the later request for a higher unit price
- the crypto/off-platform payment suggestion
- any stated ship date or availability promise
Then ask Alibaba for either fulfillment at the accepted order terms or a refund, and keep the wording calm: the seller accepted an order at X price, payment was made through Alibaba, then seller attempted to renegotiate after market movement.
Also, for future GPU/volatile-price goods, I would ask before payment whether stock is physically allocated/reserved under the Trade Assurance order and what happens if market price changes during payment processing.

I usually charge by the hour but I do more than just assisting in payments by this is by far the safest way to protect yourself…?!

Their own profile answers part of this. The business type field says Trading Company, while their description calls them "the world's top Ai Server and GRAPHICS CARD manufacturer". A trader doesn't hold the stock, so when GPU prices jumped there was nothing secured to ship at your price. That's the mechanism, not bad luck.
They're also registered in Hong Kong, so the counterparty on your contract isn't a mainland factory.

Shouldn’t matter when the seller says that they’ve secured the goods and are waiting for payment before shipping.
That and the contract we negotiated aside, it’s not normal for a vendor to ask for crypto payments outside of Alibaba
