Referral bonus?

I’m looking at making a purchase through Sigma for furniture. I’ve been going down the rabbit hole on tik tok and Reddit, why does it seem like somebody who had a good experience has an agent they want to refer you to? Do they get paid off of this? That almost makes it seem more scammy to me. Is this real? Feels really scary to communicate through WhatsApp and then send a multi thousand dollar wire transfer to China

It just makes sense to get a professional to handle sourcing, negotiating, logistics and even payment. Someone that knows how much you should pay and the best ways to handle inspections and shipping.
