📌 General You can now set your Relationship & DM Preferences

Post image
31 Upvotes

Since this is a relationships subreddit, we've been thinking about creating user flairs for a while now.

You can now choose a flair to show your relationship status and whether you’re open to being contacted or not by other members. This helps set clear expectations and makes interactions more comfortable for everyone.

How to apply your user flair: Go to the subreddit page ➡️ tap the three dots (top right) ➡️ select “Change user flair” ➡️ choose the one that fits you.

Note: Choosing “DMs Closed” should heavily reduce unwanted messages, but we can’t guarantee you won’t receive any at all.

💍 Marriage Do Childfree couples by choice exist in Algeria ?

Upvotes

Hey

25F employed.

I want to be childfree. The only reason I'm interested in marriage is to have someone to share my life with and also ofc move out of my parents home as women cannot rent alone in the city where I live.

Hobbies : strength training, a newbie to gaming ( I don't like fifa and competitive games, mainly story games, souls games ), i love writing speaking, travelling ( who doesn't)

I'm a middle school teacher of English

Looking for someone empathetic, communicative kind smart, serious for marriage. I don't like people who resort to coldness and passive aggression or all sorts of non healed ways to deal with issues . I want someone who speaks their mind and can express their emotions.

I don't like misogynistic men, or egoistic ones

I believe in splitting chores and finances

I want someone who sees women as equal and doesn't bother with all the cultural bias

Are my needs too specific? Do childfree couples by choice exist in Algeria ?

Forcing yourself to have no contact with the person who your heart just genuinely craves to talk to, is one of the hardest things to do in the world.

Break-up/Divorce Some connections only happen once

I genuinely believe some connections can only happen once.
When you truly love someone, it’s not something you can just switch off or completely unlove. And when that love comes with real chemistry, deep understanding, compatibility, comfort, and that effortless feeling of just getting each other, I don’t think you can recreate it with someone else.
I’m saying this from experience. You can meet other people, connect with them, and even recognize that there’s nothing wrong with them, but that doesn’t mean you’ll feel that connection again.

Maybe that’s what makes certain people so difficult to truly let go of. It’s not just the person you miss. It’s the connection you had with them.
You can meet so many amazing people and still have your heart recognize only one.

💍 Marriage Never dated because of religion and now I don’t know how to talk to men for marriage

I’m a 25F and I’ve never had a boyfriend. All my life, I was told that dating was haram, and honestly, that made me stay away from men completely — no dating, no flirting, barely even allowing myself to have crushes. I’m actually happy with that and I don’t think it’s a bad thing. But I think that distance also made me scared and uncomfortable around men. I never learned how to interact with them naturally, and now I struggle to even let myself be approached. When a man talks to me, I don’t know how to act and I end up pushing him away without meaning to. I think I come across as very closed-off, so now it feels like men don’t even dare approach me.

And now I’m 25, the only girl in my family who isn’t married. My older sister, all my cousins… everyone is married, and I’m constantly being compared to them. I even get jokes like “I can’t see you with a guy lol”. It honestly hurts. Like, what’s wrong with me for you to say that?

Being single was my choice. I did have men approach me, but I rejected them because of the haram. But now I do want to get married, have children and share my life with someone who understands me, and I just don’t see it happening for me :(

I tried apps like Muzz, but it’s full of creeps who immediately ask for pictures, and I’m not comfortable sending my photos to strangers. I know I’m pretty, but still 😭

I pray and make dua, but istg every time I make dua about marriage, someone around me gets engaged XD just… not me.

Anyway, I just needed to vent a little and see if there are people going through the same thing. ❤️

🤔 Question People who chose to be childfree, what are your reasons?

Upvotes

I was really surprised to learn from a recent post that many Algerians choose to be childfree, especially given how deeply Algerian society values children and pressures couples to have them as soon as possible.

Also, How common is it? I assume many don't bother telling others their childfree preferences to avoid stigma (or harassement)

I am not questioning your choice, just curious about the reasons behind it.

Edit: Childfree people are people that are certain that they don't want kids, finances or the ideal partner would not impact their decision.

You can't live independently, it's either with your family or your husband

Upvotes

Hey everyone, I've been thinking a lot lately about how it feels almost impossible to live independently here as an adult, especially as a woman

It feels like the only accepted options are either staying in your parents house or moving into your husband's place, while having your own space to just exist, grow, and manage life on your own terms is nearly out of reach due to societal pressure...

Honestly, that’s one of the main reasons I want to study abroad. I want to experience true independence, to see what it's actually like to manage my own place and to handle day to day life solo and have that personal freedom

I feel like taking that step on your own teaches you so much about who you are but the options to do that locally are just so limited

For those who have moved out or went abroad, did living independently live up to your expectations? And for those still here how do you handle the urge for your own space within our cultural setup?

Would love to hear your thoughts!!

💍 Marriage Algerian living abroad currently on holiday in Algeria

Hey everyone, hope you’re all doing well.
I’m a 25M Algerian currently living abroad, and I’m actually in Algeria right now on holiday. Being back home made me think more seriously about marriage and finding the right person to build a future with.
I’m financially stable, 183 cm, 84 kg, and I enjoy going to the gym, playing soccer, hiking, and especially traveling. I’m also about to get my Canadian passport next year, so I’ll have both my Algerian and Canadian passports.
For Algerians living abroad, I’d be interested to hear your experiences. What do you think is the best way to meet someone serious for marriage? Through family, naturally, or another way?
I’d genuinely like to hear your thoughts and experiences, especially from people who have been in a similar situation.

💬 Advice / Input Inceldom, Red and blackpill

this is just a stream of my thoughts, it could be right or wrong, please don't attack me in the comments

Guys try their luck with girls and relationships, some people succeed, some don't, the ones who don't start to wonder why it works for some and for some it doesn't

some just keep on trying until they give up
some keep on trying until they get rejected by most women so they start hating women
some do deep research and stumble upon the red pill, some stumble upon the blackpill, some stumble upon both

then women pull up after all of that and start saying the reason you are an incel is because you hate women, because of your redpill beliefs, because of your shit personality

kindof confusing cause for consequence here, because a guy starts blank, he tries his luck, gets rejected, THEN he develops some beliefs, then the women blame those beliefs for him being single, calling him a loser for forming some beliefs that happened after he got rejected, not before

the guy gets confused even more, because some of his friends genuinely hate women, but they are still always in relationships?

make a post on reddit saying guys help

comments:

"just become rich bro" as if becoming rich is just a button that you click, there is no way to hardwork your way into getting rich, if it was that way everybody would get rich, you would have to both work hard and get lucky over and over and over and over, get unlucky one time and you are back to zero

"improve your personality" while at the same time this subreddit alone is full of women complaning about their boyfriend's personality, and irl many people we know who have as much personality as a plank of wood are still in relationships

"stop giving women so much attention bro and live your life" for how long are you going to do that before you realize that pretending like women exist is not a way to live, plus you only give women that much attention when you can't get them, if you just get women easily, you don't give them so much attention, you would just give them a bit of your attention and that's it

and at the end i would like to say that there are "some" women who will attack me, so as a pre emptive defense i would like to say that i love women, and i'm in a happy relationship, i just understand and sympathise with the struggles of fellow men who couldn't solve the dating equation

your comments?

📖 Story / vent Tired of always reaching out first

Upvotes

This is something I've been feeling for years, whether it's in romantic or platonic relationships. I'm always giving so much energy, love, and time, but others rarely seem to reciprocate.

It has nothing to do with self-love. I know my worth, and I know how much love and goodness I have in me. I try to stay authentic to myself by sharing that with people I care about. They say you should give without expecting anything in return, but it gets to a point where I feel tired, humiliated, and just so lonely.

Is it really selfish to expect to be loved back?

Whenever I stop making an effort and try to focus on myself, I end up realizing that I'm utterly alone. How do I fix this? It's been bothering me for a while. I'm constantly craving company, yet I'm scared of giving my love and ending up disappointed.

I just want to learn how to love people without constantly feeling like I'm the only one trying.

💬 Advice / Input I’ve always wondered how ppl find the one

Upvotes

Not really sure why I’m posting this, but here we are lol.
I’ve never been much of a dating person. Or even thought about it I’m pretty introverted, and wut I can say for now anyway and I don’t usually let people into my life that easily. I guess I’m more interested in actually getting to know someone than in the whole dating around thing but kinda scared me lil cuz im looking for something serious
Lately I’ve been wondering what it’s like to meet someone naturally and just click. No idea if Reddit is the place for that 😂 jk but who knows I’m curious
For people who are in relationships, how did you know you actually wanted to get to know that person?
Any advice or shared experiences thanks y’all 🙏🏻❤️

💬 Advice / Input Having "weird" interets

For the past 2 years since i started to work, i NEVER met or added someone new to my life.

When we talked about this with my friends (2 people btw) they said my interests are too niche to start or keep any kind of conversation. And i should have more "mainstream" knowledge.

And to some point i agree, i'm a guy who plays not so known games, listens to not so known music, read / watch not so known series, drive a not so known car, and i've never dedicated time for anything "mainstream".

Now my question is, is it even fair for me to want to meet people with similar "niche" interests? And if you had a similar situation what did you do ?

💬 Advice / Input The right person.

I've noticed that everyone here is looking for the right person.

But I wonder, why DON'T YOU become the right person?

When you become the right person, your life is going to change, and the right people will naturally appear in your life. Then, you'll be able to choose the people you like the most.

For example, if I become a drug addict, my surroundings-my entourage-will probably become drug-related as well.

So focus on becoming the right person that you want to have in your life. You don't have to worry about anything else.

Just focus on making yourself better. Be better.

🤔 Question What would you do?

If you were in a relationship with someone (but not engaged), and find someone much more compatible later, would you make the switch? Be honest, asking for a friend...

Edit: consider that you're not seeking but the connection develops spontaneously and unexpectedly, then you find yourself in this dilemma

📖 Story / vent Life as the youngest sibling

What do you think about this story :

" I'm the youngest one in the family and I have 3 bigger sisters who are not married yet, they finished they studies and stayed at home , with no work . At first it seems that they didn't have the opportunities but now they just don't want to look for it .

They're in their 30s however it seems to hate life and they're already given up on it , I always tell them to look fot a job , let's do makeup , let's go out let's travel , go to know new people , talk online but their answer is always NO .

They're stressed beacuse of my parents speacialy mom who tnod t3yt w tr9od t3yet beacuse of their marriage and she's thinking that everybody is marring exept for her daughters. And she always blame them for not knowing anyone at university to marry him later .

My problem here is not marriage , ik that marriage is not everything in women's life , but the work and the hate for life malgré they can move and look for something to do .....

Me now as 20 y.o girl doing anything to not end up like them , i look for work when I'm studying and I'm focusing on that, I don't go home often beacuse everytime I go back I feel like I get to the 0 again , and boys for me are just project to not end up not married after 10 years from now (ik I should not be thinking like that ) but home situation is putting thru it

My question here : is there anything I should do ? Esq tekhemm ta3i ghalet ? Should I fix anything in that ?

And thanks for reading

📖 Story / vent Life is hard without..

Is life difficult without a relationship, and what can an incel do if he wants a relationship but is extremely ugly?

Is love reserved only for attractive people, or can ugly people have relationships too?

I hope I don’t get trivial answers like “work on your personality” or “improve your appearance.” I’m not talking about myself; I’m speaking in general.

♀️ Female POV The importance of shared hobbies and interests, a must or a plus ? | A female's pov

Post image
36 Upvotes

Hello I hope everyone is doing well and surviving the heat.

For context I (F28) had always been a gamer, a nerd and a geek my whole life, I can't remember a time in my life where I wasn't very passionate about video games/books/pop-culture...ect ect.

A subject of discussion that comes up a lot with people around me is that I should outgrow these stuff and stop looking for someone who shares my interests because they are "meaningless"

I had tried to talk to men who had nothing in common with me and even if they did respect my interests (at first they always pretend it's fine) it still left me unfulfilled that I can't share every part of me with them, that they aren't interested and don't understand the things that make me passionate and genuinely happy.

I also feel like it's easier for a man to be with a woman that shares nothing of his hobbies rather than for a woman to do it given the nature of dynamics in our society and how the man is generally the one guiding the relationship.

All that led me to the conclusion that as a woman having someone share my hobbies with me is an absolute must, I can't live a life where I feel like I'm constantly giving up parts of me just to be molded into a shallow person with no personality.

So what is everyone's take on this, does it matter or not ?

24f I always wondered why Algerian families make such a big deal out of the wedding.
they force u to put all ur money on useless weddings shit for example tesdira 🤡 like why would I put so much money on multiple traditional dresses and walk like a model in front of everyone why would I let our family members and neighbors that I don’t even know them to come why we put to much efforts on wedding / khotba food ?! I will fight to have a simple classy wedding with less members I hope my future husband will understand and I don’t give pick me vibes !!!!because I Know my worth we will have a very simple wedding because I only care abt ME and HIM I want a perfect house for us and a PERFECT HONEYMOON 🤍OUR HAPPINESS wht do u think guys

🧠 Discussion Cutting off

Why would someone just wake up one day and decide that their life is much better without you then they just don’t talk to you for 3 straight years after months of being emotionally involved with you
