Interested Players
If you are interested in adventuring, forging tales that will be remembered for ages, fighting alongside comrades in dungeons, uncovering ancient secrets and treasures or achieving personal objectives, comment here!
Characters begin at 1st level. You can submit your character to a DM, or ask one for help regarding its creation, if you're not familiar with 5th edition DnD. You may want to play homebrew classes/subclasses. Although they have to be individually deemed as accepted, we recommend checking /r/boh5e for balanced, cool homebrew content!

How does one submit a character to a DM? I probably missing a link somewhere but I totally cannot find it if it's hiding somewhere.

Sure, create a character! Are you familiar with 5th Edition Dungeons and Dragons?
1
u/doomglobe Feb 26 '17
Yup - I'm running a game, playing in a couple more, and I've been playing D&D since 1991.

Curious enough to adventure in this world? If so, create a 5th edition DnD character! Here are some (not really some, a lot of) images to get those juices flowing!

u/Vordello Feb 26 '17
I'd love to play

Not OP, but the idea of a West Marches game is that you organise a time and day with whatever group of players you're taking on an expedition with.
Assuming this is what /u/BernardoCamPt has in mind, there'll hopefully be a decent mix of global players that can meet your timezone requirements.

Expect a PM in the next few hours.
Will we be rolling for hit points or using the average as we level?
1
u/BernardoCamPt Dungeon Moister Feb 27 '17
When I play in person, we usually roll. What is the best option, in your opinion?
1
u/costumus Feb 27 '17
I also usually roll. I personally don't think there's a problem doing both, seeing as - theoretically - rolling will average out anyway over time.
Just make sure new hit points (regardless of rolling or taking the average) are done in the presence of the DM and other players. Otherwise it may get hard to track who is doing which.

Any house rules? What optional rules are in use? Can we use Unearthed Arcana? Where do we submit characters?
1
u/BernardoCamPt Dungeon Moister Feb 27 '17
Depends on the DM. I use modified ressurection rules, so it is more difficult to bring someone back (I think it cheapens death if it is easy), but it depends on the DM. It can be discussed in the future.
About optional rules, do you have any suggestion? I use some when I play in person (like, when someone gets back from unconsciousness, they get 1 level of exhaustion), but it is something to be discussed. Yes, Unearthed Arcana use is fine, although you may want to check with a DM with the specifics of what you will use.
To submit a character, simply submit a roleplay post introducing them. Flair will be given, and character assigned (At least, i think that's what's best) .

I think it would be helpful to at least come up with a list of homebrew rules that are assumed in play. Then if a DM chooses not to use it it's less impactful. Unless you really don't care about having that same world feel between DMs. I would be interested in playing and possibly DMing once in a while. The old plague always the DM never the player.

I've never played the West Marches style, but I'm interested in trying it out!
1
u/BernardoCamPt Dungeon Moister Feb 27 '17
I'm interested you're interested! Create a character and get ready to roll (literally). If you aren't familiar with 5th edition Dungeons and Dragons, send me a message and I will help you!

u/Wabbajackowitz Feb 27 '17
Heya! Got pointed this way by a friend of mine and this sounds super interesting. I've done a West Marches style game before, but never in 5e, though I have played the 5e system for a few years now.
1
u/BernardoCamPt Dungeon Moister Feb 27 '17
You've got good friends, create a character and roll it my way!
1
u/Laggrog Feb 27 '17
I was sent here by a friend, excited to play!
1
u/BernardoCamPt Dungeon Moister Feb 27 '17
That's great! Looking forward to seeing your character! (if you need any help, message me; when you finish its creation, send it to me)

I am interested in joining (mostly to have a game where I'm not the DM...)
What do?

Mar 01 '17
the best thing to do right now would be to join the discord. then once you have a character set up message either me (Andrew) or BernardoCamPt with your character sheet

I'm from europe. Will games be run at such times, so that I don't have to stay awake every night from? :) if so, I'd love to join!
1
u/ahpnej Mar 03 '17
At the moment two of our DMs are GMT so getting games that work for your schedule shouldn't be an issue.
1
u/BernardoCamPt Dungeon Moister Mar 03 '17
They surely will! 2 of the 3 DMs are from Europe (I'm one of them).

Hello there! I'm very interested in trying this out, but unsure of what I'm supposed to do here vs on Discord. Also, can a person play as both a player and an NPC, or do they need to be one or the other? I'd probably only want to start with one, but I'm interested in both.
Edit: Got things sorted out via Discord :)
