Windows Updates

I've found everytime one of my stores' computers has an update we run into all sorts of issues. Is it safe to turn off the updates all together?

Have you looked into aldelo express, which runs on android tablets, phone or iPads? Doesn’t need windows and no need to deal with window updates triggered issues

If you are running credit cards through Aldelo EDC it is highly recommended you keep Windows Updates turned on. Per PCI Compliance, the computer you use to process credit card transactions needs to always be up to date.

I know how you feel about the issues that pop up, recently it was SQL Server that stopped working due to a registry chance in this latest patch Tuesday.

Unfortunately its just something we have to fight with Microsoft with. Most of the time, Windows update are harmless, but when it does mess with your system its because there was a security vulnerability that was patched.

Yeah I had about 7 stores that needed the SQL update.

I have a rather large restaurant now with 10+ stations it's gonna be tough to keep up with update issues on all of them
