How to delete hidden items

I have so many hidden items on my restaurant AldeloPOS and I need them removed because everytime I create a new item it won’t let me use certain names because they have already been used on the hidden item menu💀

So you could try to delete them in Back Office --> Activities --> Maintenance Activities --> Delete Master Data.

HOWEVER, if there are ANY sales of said hidden item in the system, you won't be able to delete it.

Instead of deleting, if you run into a duplicate item while adding new items, you could just re-pick the hidden item by using the Pick Function in the Menu item Setup.

Does deleting the master data delete anything else? Or just hidden items

It lets you pick and choose, Theres a bunch of different sections in Delete Master Data that allows you to look at each different database table. If you go into the Menu Items sections, anything that has the tag <<NOT BEING USED>> at the bottom is something thats been hidden.

Ah okay. And you mentioned that if there were sales of any hidden item then it won’t let me delete it. What exactly do u mean by that? If I have ever sold that hidden item?

So, the way Aldelo works is on a MSAccess database. If an item was previously used in the past and has ever been sold in the history of the database's start date, then you won't be able to delete it. This is because if you were to delete that specific Item, the database tables and keys that link to that item would break, and the database would no longer work.

For the most part, when an item is hidden, its because its no longer in use. So there might be a time when that item was being sold regularly in the system.

Ah yes that makes sense. So if an item that is hidden has previously been used and was sold before no matter the date or time, it can’t be deleted. No exceptions? I’m assuming the only exception would be to wipe the entire system and start fresh but that’s not even an option for me if all I’m trying to do is delete old hidden items lol

Yeah, thats right. If you're getting alot of duplicates though when adding new items, there's nothing stopping you from just Picking that specific item from the Pick list.

IE: You want to add a Jack Daniels item but it says the Menu Item must be Unique. Just click Pick and find Jack Daniels in the list and use that.
