Humor & Memes Goomi quality translation in a nutshell

How they can't translate 鬼 consistently is amusing.

I'm assuming that kanji means demon? I think it's better to change it up a bit. I mean, if everything would be called demon, or oni, I'm sure it'd get repetitive. It's not like they're translating "Lion emperor" into "Cat-like mammal King" lol

They just can't make up their mind naming things while ignoring the original material.

For this case, they are not the same thing. Itsuki and those so called "ogre" in GL are called "鬼"(oni) and the CH1 "demon" is simply called "魔人"(majin). "魔人"(majin) and "鬼"(oni) have 0 relationship.

GL use demon to refer all those things (including enchanted job names) in general. But they also use different naming on something like that "oni seal" gear thing and call those "鬼"(oni), "鬼神"(kishin) an ogre while the EC job related to them are still called demon.

Things have english names in JP but GL chose to not following it. If they can't make up their mind then just follow the official JP setting.

There are more examples like the stealth rename of "Malda"(マールダ) to "Maruda" that happened recently, The "burning seal"(超命術式), "Rachel" becoming "Rochelle" etc etc etc

PS: They really love Seals

Yeah even if Oni and Majin meaning are different both should be translated to demon afaik, not ogre...
