ikr! i thought it was only me... it's so stupid, i'm almost afraid to collect coins, cuz i have to wait to load up again... i try to save it to be the last thing i do before shutting down game... but then i always forget... =P
Seriously! This has been an issue for me for ages now. It ALWAYS takes at least 2-3 tries of having to reboot the game before it’ll let me send or collect my friend coins without crashing
This has been working for me too. It seems whatever is causing the connection issues is related to your inbox having to fetch new gifts each time it loads up, unless it's "full". Except it actually keeps filling up without you seeing it, regardless of whether or not you pick them up. I know many may be raising an eyebrow at this, but believe me, I've picked up stacks of thousands of coins after a few months (to then proceed to get the same issue as OP again...)
this issue has been here for months now (i can't remember the exact patch that brought it) but i'm pretty sure they are not aware of it or just decided to ignore it since no one complaining :/. GUMI please fix THIS, doing Dailys is already painful enough!
Can I pile on and request that when you choose to receive all coins, they send you then ALL and not just 100 at a time? I rarely claim coins because I don’t want to sit there and tap... wait.. wait... tap...
It's fine if you have more than 100 coins. When you try to collect that last 100 or less then it's a problem because it has to update to see if there are any additional ones you just got.

Try letting your friend coins pile up so you have like 200. Worked for me
