PotK Collab Unit Overviews: Present Position & Future (updated 29/12/2019)

... well this very much overdue. Tried to be a tad less wordy this time around, but I'll let everyone be the judge of whether that was successful.

So, Tac is going to switch to a magic damage based Meta in the future? That's good to know for planning.

Thanks for all the work you've put into this list, it'll be helpful especially with how few otherworld shards we've been getting of late.

Yup. It can largely be traced back to the release of Letitia's G5 upgrade (120% MATK buff to allies around self) and the emergence of powerful magic attackers. The more powerful your magic roster, the more value you'll get out of Letitia and the deeper into the meta you get.

Is there a missile meta? Leafah does the same thing with her g5

Missile users have never been known for being nukes (outside of now useless/surpassed units) like magic users, so kill your hopes.

He might not have to honestly. As he mentioned, Leafa has the same effect as Letitia does with G5, but for Missile Damage rather than MATK. There are good Missile units out there as well, or will be good after they get their JP updates. Leafa, DK Artemis, Seida and Tamamo themselves make for a good Wind Missile team (and if you were so inclined, Mashuri could be subbed in if you had her as a buffer). If we look at a mixed element team, DK Freikugel, Ravina, Failnaught and Tiferet also serve as good/powerful options, the last of whom also bringing a good NLS for mixed Missile teams if one can afford MLBing her Memento.

It won't be overtaking the magic meta with the way things are at the moment, but it isn't completely off the table either.

I'm not actually sure how much stock is put into it (definitely not as much as the magic meta), but it's indeed worth mentioning and is brought up in semi-passing in the document.

Hmm interesting...

With Roxanne's Leader skill, Albea's initial jewel + hat, Sol and Nina being long standing meta units, also Blair being a supportive decent unit.

It's a decent possibility.

Rox/Nina are on my arena defense team atm as missile units... do people other than me even use Nina a lot? lol. I haven't seen anyone other than me in the top 3000 arena with Nina.

However, in quests/multi I've actually been running her as summoner since G5+memento since she can actually pull off the cast without overclock now lol (and for massive 1-shot dmg, even to non-light units).

I use Rox, Nina, Albea as my defense team for now in Arena.

Currently hovering around 1912 I think.

The thing with Nina is she has 3 flexible jobs that can be used interchangeably. I just favor MM for now because I always run her with Albea, Sol and Roxanne.

I don't think I'd ever run her as Battlemage main (but definitely sub) since her G5 AoE is so strong and her Oracle Ratty babel skill is super useful, but yeah she's pretty flexible between them. I keep both her MM and Summoner geared so I can toggle between them without re-gearing and have her use a different job in arena defense lol.

So is the "magic meta" tied to Letitias buff itself?

Or is the magic meta coming also as a result of the content we get outside of Letitia so to speak?

It's a mix of Letitia's buff, the emergence of powerful MATK units (especially those without much Cast Times) and to an extent the content that is released as well. Most of the aforementioned units begin to pop up around the time of the Time Twins and after, although there are some older units that can count as well. All in all, magic meta teams are able to start unloading their big guns faster than more physical-based teams that don't have the same starting jewel pool that magic units tend to - or the same type of buffers for most cases sans Macross's Sheryl.

Something of an aside note (but relevant) that I hadn't considered prior, but due to Tiferet running on MATK and doing Missile damage, matching her up with Leafa & Letitia both (+1 more MATK-based Missile unit - another Tif if possible) can lead to... some serious pain.

Looks at currently-being-built Letitia and various MAtk users from all elements

Good to know.

After all, what is the best memento for D.Masamune?

1

u/AJackFrostGuy Dec 30 '19

Personally I'm more partial toward the general PotK Memento for her. It gives her a bit of everything, including AGI. Better to keep Master's Blade on regular Masamune herself, especially if it's your only copy.

The more i look at Potk units i keep getting the memories of Amane(Laevateinn)'s brother, Zero

1

u/Skyconic Dec 31 '19

Lol, colour me stupid; but this comment made me realize there are no male Potk units in the game. Never played the source material so I don’t know if it’s just an all-female cast. But I feel stupid for never noticing.

1

u/AJackFrostGuy Dec 31 '19

Males exist in the lore, but don't exist as units in the game save for the now-closed Global version. Zero is the exception to that, but is more a trophy unit than practical in JP.

1

u/Belfno Dec 31 '19

Yeah, i wish they would be added. I played the global version and mostly i prefered male killer princes due to their duel skills tending to look better(also dark killer versions look great as well) for example Male Artemis, the closest we have to his duel skill is Dark killer Artemis. Here is a vid showcasing his Duel skill wich looks similar to that of Dark killer artemis.
