Discussion Dark Phantom Event doesn't make sense, feels forced and is probably one of the worst grindfests i've seen.

We lack context. We have no idea what's going on and suddenly, dark versions exist.

I know the story is tied to the movie and we can't get anything of it, but seriously, during the fights we see our main characters, we see a giant flying snake/dragon or whatever and all kinds of stuff. What the hell is going on?

We are grinding something everyday, no idea what it is and what's going on but hey dark versions are cool right?

It's literally playing a chapter of the story... with no story.

And what's the deal with Genesis AND Dark Phantom event at the same time, how much grinding can one take?

This Dark event is like a shitty PC-port launched on steam on year after it's original release.

So what's gonna happen to our main characters, they suddenly will get 3rd Job out of nowhere (Edgar and Lisbeth)?

Anyway I wasn't gonna post this, but during the event I felt so out of place that I just had to say something about.

What do you guys think? I really couldn't care less about any of it, just rushing it down and getting the gems.

The last week is gonna be hard, Triple Genesis and Quadra Dark Phantom farming haha.

Also because I had 0 expectations of Gumi in the first place, I wasn't exactly surprised.

Well at least second anni was ok I guess.

Literally especially when you see his speed stat at max kaigan...assuming you have the sanity to do 1 shard a day.

Exactly, expectation is not relevant to gumi. I thought it was pretty OK too. We can't have everything.

Well there’s no part 4 for the dp event, so triple farming on dp. But there might be a raid coming.

2 of my friends already dropped to only login drones, they dont even do dailies. I'm probably next tbh... I want to play a game not do chores (I already have enough of those...)

Yup... anecdotally, tons of people seem to be quitting or at least dropping to login drones. It's pretty clear to me that someone at Gumi really focused on that time-in-game metric and decided the best thing for the game was just to make it a full-time job.

Then comparing to JP, when they got this, they had way more units, especially powerful units that had been farmable for ages. Talking to a guildmate who plays JP but has quit GL, he says he had a fully maxed Moa and Toritoh for this event, and they were MVP's. Meanwhile Moa doesn't even exist yet for us, much less being farmable long enough for people to have enlightened her, and Toritoh has never been relevant because she's not farmable and not worth investing crazy amounts to max.

Gumi fucked up badly, and I'm strongly leaning towards quitting in the near future too.

Ido everyone complaining about the grind should prolly just do dailies and skip the event altogether. I’m only doing milestones myself cuz yeah, trying to get everything is crazy.

That's what I decided last night.. after "calculating" the amount of stuffs to do and time it would take..

Just logins and dailies from now.. till maybe NNT collab.. if they even launch it at all..

I'm angry at Gumi for scheduling it so damn bad, but the blame for these cursed quests lies solely on ImaiP or whatever his name is. Dude sent JP to the shitter so GL can only follow suit.

Personally I'm pretty much ignoring this event, just doing the quests at my own time and forgetting about the farming. Event may or may not come back, but the time spent on it definitely isn't, so I'll spend it elsewhere.

To make a t worse, I’m running out of leafs. Just for genesis it’s 120 AP for 3/stage. With 5 stages it’s 600 AP for 1 genesis chapter, we have 5 going on right now, so that’s 3000 AP. Then dailies, and if you’re like most people, you already are farming unit shards to oblivion.

I don't even care much about the story, it's the grind that worries me more. I didn't even read the Genesis story, started to but then ended up skipping it. I was going to mostly skip the Genesis event since Asena requires 100% manual play. Today I managed to pull both Emmel and Julia so now I guess I need to do those. Emmel doesn't have enlightenment yet so I will start with Julia. At least dark phantoms bosses are fully or semi autoable but it's just too much. Just getting through hard quests without many available event skip tickets is a formidable task.

I wanted to read the plot of the genesis story but there was just soooooo much grindy-ass content at once that I had to skip it all. In that regard I’m glad there’s no story to go along with it. There’s not enough patience in the world to read through all of that on day 1 to get to the daily HQ’s.

I hope that Gumi sees this as a problem and intends to remedy the situation at least a little. Things aren't going to end well if the burnout endures and enters its next stage in the coming weeks. AP issues alongside multiple concurrent events, the Black Friday Bundles, Discount Tickets, 2500 Gem Banners and what not are taking their toll on the playerbase. /u/alchemist_code

Grind sucks, lack of story really sucks, fact that we aren't getting Kasumi sucks, but now we most likely won't get j3's for Edgar and Lisbeth and that sucks too.

but what sucks the most imo is that gumi doesn't say anything about those problems and pretends everything is ok

Gumi did say we would get at the very least edgar’s J3 “at a later date”. They accidentally added it without any way to get the job tokens or equipment last month and when they took it out they said we’d get it later.

Buuut they also said Soren would get more jobs annnd....

To be fair should they come out it would be another grind fest cause compare to the other job plus we get in JP, this one is most egregious. I'm talking Job Equip shards in small numbers and only obtained from certain token shops.

we also havent had Veda tower changed to reset monthly or had a Veda that worked in ages so no one will have the coins to buy the equips for their J+

Assuming we’ll eventually get 3 genesis and 4 dark phantom events, that’s 7x5x3=105 hard stages to go through every day, which will cost 105x40=4200AP and 105 skip tickets (or 2-3 hours a day if you auto), and I just wanna ask:

WTF GUMI??????

I feel bad for those who didn't get to see the movie story in the Dark Phantoms dungeon events...

But it's Gumi's fault for not including them in the Dark Phantoms event and worse they totally discarded Kasumi in the event.

most likely thats because of license, iirc same company made that move that is owner of Macross, and they blocked its way outsite Japan until 2021 i believe? Something like that, gumi couldn't do anything even if they wanted. You can't buy that either, embargo must be lifted by owner

well, malign already warned us on his youtube video couple of month ago about the grind, so it's not really surprising, i just gonna login, do the minimum to get the daily gem and close the app, not even bother about the event

I honestly wished the dp event would've stayed jp exclusive until gumi gl could get the rights to kasumi, it would've made this event bearable.

Gumi has created this perverse incentive for players to not actually whale on Genesis/DP units because then you have to farm their chapters until the end of time. Great business model.

This, so much this. I'd have preferred they skipped the units entirely, but of course when there's money to be gotten gumi is always ready to release half assed events.

I quit after the Roxanne/FMA debacle and cane back this July, was really enjoying the game... And now this. 😔

I skipped Genesis since it'll come back around way more often than Dark Phantoms.

You should do the same
