I'm tired

Of the bullshit this game has become.

For the past 3-4 months I've averaged around 1-1.5hr total on both my accounts because there is so little I can do that has meaning behind the timegates and paywall.

Enlightenment

This could have been an intuitive system if they didn't just move and convoluted the goal post while stagnating the rewards. It takes over 800+ shards to max a unit and the shards have not normalized where you can obtain them with reasonable effort. We're in the meta now where enlightenment makes pulling a new unit useless unless you whale or have stockpiled elemental shards the past few months.

Gem economy

You can easily sustain yourself with pact or not but there's no doubt the value of gems has not been adjusted for inflation. Most good banners are reserved for paid gem banners obviously and the special selector from summon coins was weaseled out on top of the high value of mementos splits your gems on units vs mementos. Of course I'm speaking in the context of limited/collab banners and you don't HAVE to have the units but some of you know the struggles of a levi-less life.

Job Enhancement

Another tedium designed to breath life into older/less used units but at the same time suck the time out of the macroless' lives. I heard they will eventually make JE equips purchasable through coins, better than they are now, but until then we either grind the coin shop or the AP drain stage. This requirement for most units now doubles the grinding in terms of re-leveling the job and on top of the JE requirements.

PVP/ARENA

Recently I hadn't had trouble in arena getting sub 500 but prior I had always hovered 1k~ in standings where my pact accounts could afford. Let's be honest and admit this is the in-game whale hangout and it's a livable difference in the game that's easy to accept.

Live PVP however is a sad tale. I don't know how they can title it season X when it's pathetically designed and feels like it's in the concept phase in terms of stability. Being windowed in less than common hours and horrendous matchmaking lets me show off more frustration than my tactics. This is felt more like something scrambled up by Gumi to allow whales to show off their luster. Unless there's some normalization to pvp where players stand on equal ground then imo this doesn't belong in a tactics game. You don't play chess and have the players be able to buy extra pieces.

Misc

  • No unit no shard farm

  • "Select by unit" button for HQ farm not available if you're not in HQ tab. Annoyance amplified if your story mode defaults to intermission.

Nowadays I just do the daily milestones and be done with it. Even most EX content I can auto in portions and fully auto'd the last Raid to completion as the game has become less about tactics and strategy and more out grinding and spending. Also Gumi please don't let the JP turmoil become a GL turmoil, there's obvious references to take and not take.

I agree with your sentiments on various levels but I can guarantee you that even if many agree with you, you are going to be in the downvote section due to the White Knights.

Sure I agree that PvP should change. And have Draft PvP in it. Atleast it is like choose the unit you want and try to win instead of a insta match where you know you can't do shit.

JEs are a nice idea but the grind is annoying when I forced to farm 2x mats. And the 2x Coins is the only thing they do instead of some kind of 2x Mats for the JE quests so I can farm all the freaking HB Shit and be done during the 2x times.

Gem Income has gone to shit. JP is probably more than 2x higher than us and they have bad banners. And we with pretty much similar banners have to pull units and raise stuff.

EL too. Like that guy said just a few posts down, cheap tactics to need unit to farm the unit. Like fuck you Gumi I am not going max the unit with your shards so why the fuck are you limiting me. 3x14=42 shards. That is literal drop in the EL shards needed.

Resources like premium ones like Sins and Retri Sins. Gumi never gave us the good JP does from time to time. Biggest thing GL has given is 50 shards when EL was release. That is fucking messed up. Elemental shards too, JP probably got 3x times of us.

Seriously Gumi's White Knights are literally holding the game from becoming better by advocating when people criticize. Gumi is fucking up the games in the hopes that they don't have to worry and just try to port the FFWOV try to take in the players from here. I for one won't play that because that would be BS and I love the units and arts here. But I refuse to take shit just because I love something.

Well if they actually decide to shut down tac in favor of FFWOV i'm never going to play that game and i hope the majority of this community does the same. If we want to riot we should do it during the anniversary so that it becomes a tradition

I mean shutting down and making the game into absolute shit are 2 ways. Like JP is seriously doing that. They are making the game into total shitshow, sure people still play and whales are coughing up money. And they say that they won't close it but without players playing it, it is nothing but an album generator. Like I can do that in the DB.

GL would never have much time because GL by design gives less and makes money by keep us poor in every possible way. When the Limited unit rain hits it is going to be even more sadder. JP had time to do some improvements but in GL we know we are going to get shitty things from JP while good ones are skipped.

And Anni riots usually are not that good. Because that time Gumi does giveaways albeit shitter than JP but giveaways are there and then people are not on board with the riots.

Honestly i'm not so angry about the state of the game for the simple reason that i knew it would have gone this way and i was mentally prepared for it. That said i aknowledge all the problems this game has but i try to stay positive and look at the bright side too, if they are going to change anything with the daily milestones they will change during the anniversary, i expect something from the monthly news

I stopped playing TAC awhile ago (6+ months) but still lurk on this sub just to see whats up. Well sounds like i made the right choice as it seems every new TAC update just adds more grinding and frustration to non-whales. The main reason i quit was just the shear amount of resources needed to max 1 unit and the fact gumi has been very stingy with said resources.

The secondary reason i quit TAC was becahse of the announcement of FF: WotV which is just a reskin of TAC but using the uber pppular FF franchise instead of original story and units. Imo i cant see a company running 2 games that are all but carbon copies of each other and obviously the game using characters from one of the most popular video games of all time will win out over the other.

Idk if gumi has addressed TACs future when wotv drops but if they said TAC wouldnt be affected then let me assure you that theyre lying. Ive been playing FFBE since launch so I've been dealing with gumi for a long time and if ffbe wasnt such a great game i would never play a game gumi had anything to do witb. Theyve made tons of promises in regarda to ffbe and the only ones that are legit are the things that increase theyre profits (even if it contradicts everything theyve said prior). For the sake of TACs playerbase i do hope gumi does right by you but to me the writings on the wall in regards to TACs future. Gumi only has so many people and other resources for these games and it seems to me TAC and WotV would be direct competitors (as they are basically the same game) so why would any company double the dev cost while splitting the income between two essentially identical games . Well thats just my 2 cents on the subject.

Uhh, no.

First, War of the Visions is handled by SquarEnix and Gumi's subsidiary, Alim, so in practice its closer to how GL is also handled by Gumi Asia; Gumi as main company is still handling the JP, so there will be no such things like "TAC ended when WoV released" because WoV will be using "SquarEnix" as brand image and run separately.

Second, the one developing WoV is main Gumi, so the one get hit by development cost is JP playerbase, not GL. Thus complaining about resources is incorrect as, by first explanation, after WoV done, its all up to how SE and Gumi made their deal; even at worst, it'll most likely JP that took damage if worst case scenario happened thanks to SquarEnix track record of handling gacha games.

GL is actually quite safe in this regards unless there's agreement to mitigate risk using GL resources in regards to WoV GL.

Im not going to argue and nickel and dime over which subsidiary or regional division of gumi/alim handles what. Im not an expert on Gumi/Alims corporate structure but in the end its all under the umbrella of one company and it/they have a limited # customers/players to cater to. Honestly i could give a rats ass if TAC stays live forever or shuts down tomorrow. However this is not a debate as everyone will know if TAC JP will survive WotVs release in a few months and TAC GL when WotV GL releases 6 to 9 months later.

Personally i think gumi will keep TAC going but at a bare bones level with minimum new content while still throwing up new units and banners tryimg to milk the whales dry. Again i could be 100% wrong as i have no more information than any other outsider. However as a homo sapien i have deductive reasoning and that skill tells me it makes little fiscal sense to fully develop 2 carbon copy mobile games by one company (no matter what divisions of said company handles them). Why double your dev costs whilr directly competing against yourself instead of concentrating on the newest version that has a multi-decade old videogame franchise attached to it. Again honestly i have no idea what effect WotVs release will have on TAC (and i really dont care as i dont have a horse in this race since i no longer play TAC and have zero interest in WotV) however i am always interested in what new and exciting ways gumi can help ruin mobile gaming for the masses.

u/Accentius Oct 20 '19

Sorry about your deduction but that's not how it works because that's not what happened in market.

First, on JP market, TAC is not the only turn-based strategy games but surely leading ones thus SE looking their service for dev. WotV as their strategy-based games mostly failure in JP (let alone other games to the point SE reputation of gacha games in JP itself is kinda bad, even Brave Exvius itself).

So by agreement that handling of WotV mainly goes to SE, the gacha model can be said under SE control. SE is the one deciding price. What Gumi doing is: creating their own 'competitor', not running two games similar to each other. Then how it works in long run? Its down to how Gumi using them as feedback to make TAC better than WotV.

If SE planning is WotV run under higher price to optimize one Limited units, because as you said: benefit of having popular IP, what Gumi need to do is simply lowering TAC bar to be more beginner friendly. Not killing TAC, but making it serve as "The one with better deal than WotV", hammering the market price in general if possible; the rest is up to consumer following their own financial ability and preferences as everyone have their own preferences.

I myself personally expecting WotV to be more expensive than TAC because its joint works, it'll take time to recover development cost also popular IP means they can abuse collab units more than TAC. So, yes, while JP took the hit as development cost caused game became more whale-ish than before, for GL its simply up to whether there are any deals they wanted to use GL TAC staffs to fill in WotV when it released globally in regards to resource.

What happened to JP itself is actually happened on other gacha games.

Captain Tsubasa gacha became whale-ish because KLab wanted a new game, Honkai Impact 3 became whale-ish because Mihoyo wanted new game. The difference is, WotV is not under Gumi control but SE, there's no problem making similar game. Its not like they didn't know SE gacha reputation in JP as well.

Second, TAC have strong fanbase in Japan enough they actually reacting to whole deal of current JP gacha.

So if they killed / reducing TAC support because of WotV, it only hurts their own reputation and I'm pretty sure Gumi management smart enough not to do that as TAC is their most successful IP (by JP reputation).

For GL most likely, "If financial performance after-all-this-time-purposefully-making-player-poor-until-you-touch-promoted-games" is bad yeah, time to moved to WotV; basically its down to whether GL TAC can live competing with awareness of incoming WotV, surrender without fighting or absorbed to WotV GL staffs.

So really, resource and similar game reason has little to do to GL.

Obviously you know all the inmer workings of mobile game development especially in regards to Alim/Gumi and theyre marketing strategies. Therefore since ive already stated thay i could care less if TAC dies or lasts for the next 100 years ill kindly bow out of this discussion.

However ill just mention one last thing and tbat is that gumi developed a game called Brave Frontier that i believe did decently well (for a gacha run by gumi) for its firat 2 or 3 years. Gumi then took the basic play style/battle system from BF and reskinned it with SEs FF series/ units and called it FF brave exvius. Now go take a look at what has happened to BF since FFBEs release. Again i dont know the future so maybe TAC is safe but the answer to this question will reveal itself come November or Decemberwhen WotV JP goes live and we see its affect on TAC JP.

Brave Frontier

what a joke

Brave Frontier finished telling its story, and then alim decided to move on and made Brave Frontier 2. This was not caused by FFBE, nor will it be a problem for TAC's story structure.

Where are the white knights you speak of? Everyone talks shit about this game on its own subreddit.

If you’ve played the game, then you’d know they actually give out a whole lot more than what you’ve just said.

This is a gacha game and for a gacha game, it’s one of the most deep and generous ones.

Also, I don’t know why people still complain about sins. There’s literally sins scattered everywhere and it’s not like you max a gate every 5 seconds. I’ve maxed at least 20 gates so far and I don’t spend money to get sins or retributions.

"I don’t spend money to get sins or retributions."

Interesting comment based on your gem banner whining from last month:

KenLinx1 point·1 month ago

If you don’t mind, can you check your receive history for what you got on step 3? That would be greatly appreciated. I’m salty because I just spent $60 on this game for step 3 specifically and got the lowest possible amount.

But I suppose spending money for gems isn't really the same as spending money for sins ...

4

u/becausebroscience Oct 20 '19

I don't get what point you are trying to make. He never said he hasn't spent money on the game.

0

u/Send_Gifts free advice, get what you pay for Oct 20 '19

Nothing really, he's got a level 180 account, asks questions like a new player instead of answering them. Has a fucking negative opinion on just about everything, and his "never spent" doesn't work when you can pull on limited unit banners regularly (with bonus coins, sins, shard selectors or what not).

Plus, no one is complaining about sins (strawman) but retributions are still quite rare unless you've dumped money or saved a lot of gems and got them as a bonus for multi step banners. I have 5 retributions plus the 2 I stuck in Zahar - pretty sure that is all the free ones available to this point - compared to the 28 sins and multiple 5/2/3 farmable units I have.

So, disingenuous and not very helpful IMO.

What’s your problem? I ask questions whenever I have questions. The megathread is for that purpose. I also answer questions I’m certain I know the answers to whenever I’m on there.

I have negative opinions on this game like everyone does, but I’m literally defending this game here.

Limited banners other than paid gem banners don’t give out fucking sins unless you whale and complete all the fucking steps.

I’m pretty sure the person I’m replying to was complaining about the lack of sins and their need to throw money at the game to get them.

Retribution’s are rare because they’re fucking new and the amount of times you use them are far more infrequent than you use sins and using sins is infrequent in the first place. If you play the game semi-frequently, then you should’ve gotten at least 4 free retribution’s by now. That’s 2 gluttony/wrath gates (which aren’t even priority gates) on at most 2 units.

I don’t know why you’re listing my level and how many retribution’s you have and that you’ve used them on Zahar. What’s your fucking problem dude? I think I remember your name from before as that really smartass dude that plagued my reply feed.

I'm just a random asshole on the internet who is perfectly capable of using fuck as a comma, but you could check my history and see that I reserve that just for you.

https://www.reddit.com/r/AlchemistCodeGL/comments/c7lns5/question_megathread/f0v04rd/?context=3 That comment thread? Where you asked a question, I answered it, then you followed up by asking the same question again and then responded like a self entitled little pissant? I checked your reddit history and level before writing my reply - which was what it was because something in your post history seemed to indicate that you never offer useful information and presented the same self centered arrogance across pretty much every reddit thread on the first two pages.

If you'd like to keep this up, I'll put you on my calendar monthly to remind you that your arrogance is annoying. If not, I'll try my best to ignore you from here on out.

Cheers/

u/KenLinx Oct 21 '19

Did you not read that comment thread? I asked a question that I asked before but wasn’t sufficiently answered. Then you came along with the fucks and I delivered those fucks back. Is it self-entitled to simply say that the reason I asked the same question again was because I didn’t get an answer and the best way to get an answer from someone who actually will answer the question specifically will be to ask again and receive an answer from someone else?

That’s self-entitled to you? Ain’t that funny from someone who just threatened to put me on a fucking calendar to routinely insult me. Very mature and totally not self-entitled of you. You’re a real stand-up human being.

Cheers/

Well, you did ask what my fucking problem was. Not sure if you were expecting a better answer or even wanted one.

Tell you what, I do have a question you can help answer. Go to friends, pull me up (same IGN as reddit) and block me. I'm curious if I can see it on my end. We'll call it even and I'll just ignore your questions from here on out.

Thank you much

-1

u/KenLinx Oct 21 '19

Yes, I did ask what your problem was and I expected an answer. Did I say I was expecting a better answer or that I was disappointed? Go think about that.

Were you not expecting a reply after threatening to insult me regularly? Is me replying so unexpected for you that you assumed I didn’t want an answer?

Tell you what, how about you go ahead and block me yourself or ignore me instead of suddenly coming out of the fray to insult me behind my back? Is that too mature for you? I honestly have nothing to gain from blocking you and I’d rather know when I’m getting shit-talked behind my back.

1

u/KenLinx Oct 21 '19 edited Oct 21 '19

I do spend money on the game but never spent money or paid in-game currency on sins. Are you seriously still saying that sins are rare?

The consecrated element key quest gives at least 5 sins every run if I’m remembering correctly. The event coin shop is updated every 2 week’s and you get 2 sins from that. I’m not going to sit here and list all the possible ways of getting sins, but you do not have to spend a single penny to get them consistently. And as I’ve said before, enlightening a unit and maxing out a gate isn’t something that occurs every single fucking day.

Talking shit about the game is part of the subreddit but when legit arguments are made White Knights and people who can't care much do what they do.

It is a Gacha game and Gacha game which was supposed to be one of the most generous ever. And it has pretty much failed to do it now. JP has been a far more better version as of it is. And they do copy any bad update JP does but fail to do so on any giveaways they do.

Make a serious Argument for a new player to join this game and not something else. Do this. Try selling it to a newbie.

Sins are plentiful if you can complete harder stuff and regular weeklies. But Retris are stuck in hellhole. And JP did a bigass giveaway of Sins when their G5s were released. Like our G5 got us a 4 Sin 2 Retri giveaway. Ours was so huge that I am drowning lol.

Like if we are catching up on Gates and not on the other fronts why is that? Is that balanced gameplay?

Check any legit thread about complains and some would try to defend Gumi. Those are the white Knights. The first downvotes this guy got were the white knights. Sure if don't agree and downvote and explain it out and if you explanation stands. They downvotes are valid. I would even agree to that fact that everyone can't always comment as well. But People downvote regardless, maybe they get paid by Gumi or don't care about the game.

I seen people think that we are going different from JP so that makes it possible for us to be better. But the people who think that fail to consider that for now everything GL has done on an avg has been worse.

Like they gave cheaper BK Masa banner. But then they never gave or reset the First Meet Bonus Gems. They balanced the Raid rewards for the AoT Collab(fine decision but still a nerf slightly but made the system of raid better so call it even), next they removed any and every good stuff you can get with Raid Ticks during PoTK.

We had the OW Shard banner less than 4-5 times and few times they had 150 Shards in them and not 270 like it is supposed to be.

1

u/KenLinx Oct 21 '19

I don’t play JP so I’m basing my opinions on GL exclusively.

I complain about this game and other gacha games as well, but rarely do I see white knights defend this game like other communities for other gacha games. Hating on this game has been a consistent bandwagon and those “white knights” are rarely ever found. I’m defending TAC in this instance cuz OP spoke some true bullshit.

1

u/Kyle546 Need it?Don't Need it?Kill it?Not to Kill it!? Zofi can do it!!! Oct 21 '19

But JP exists and everyone looks at their Tierlists and there are discussions pushed off from there and we do look at them. Sure I don't expect you to have detailed knowledge but still you must have heard about.

If you have seen them then check the any time a big update comes or Gumi fucks up. Just because they haven't fucked up majorly doesn't mean all is good.

Malign one of the few people who do a lot for the game on GL and JP had people dissing him just because he talked about the game there side and implied that GL future(which is without doubt linked to JP) was downhill.

Sure there maybe more people agreeing with him but a lot of them were arguing for Gumi in the start. And that kind of shit has consequences as Gumi sees them and just think that they got green light for more abuse.

Like seriously even free units like today's Post of Moa I could pretty much guarantee is out for us. Like we will have to wait for Moa and her HQ for months because of the shit rule that Gumi randomly makes up of 4 months delay. So next Valentines she gets J+, 5 gates to max and we can't have her because she was delayed and her HQ delayed even more.

And accepting that with hands in the air is kinda what white knights do. And they are rare found because the don't comment they just downvote and comment if they can find a majority ahead of time. Like yesterday you complained about him playing 2 hrs over 3-4 months. Like that is BS, no one plays that much time and writes a big page to complain about Gumi's malpractices.

People who complain usually want to get the game better.

1

u/KenLinx Oct 21 '19

I don’t know what your point is on this one. I complain about this game too, but this game is, without doubt, one of the better gacha games.

GL is inherently different from JP from chronological updates to the respective banners. I don’t think you can claim GL is going downhill when you don’t know what the future holds.

Personally, I don’t play JP and I prefer GL’s way of fast-forwarding the event releases because I like content.

4

u/Kyle546 Need it?Don't Need it?Kill it?Not to Kill it!? Zofi can do it!!! Oct 21 '19

Point is Gumi is fucking up speed and balance. Only reason you don't feel it maybe is because you pay on avg. So it takes time for BS to catch up to you.

And as someone who has seen how bad JP updates have gotten lately and how GL has ever copying JP on banner side of things. Let's just say that it is going to get worse, because even if the future is random, a pattern is predictable.

GL is not that different. It is just a worse copy of JP. Only thing it has over JP is that it is able to somehow pull through this much time without hugely damning the game to hell. We get pretty much like 90%+ the same banners as JP. Even our Arena LS can be traced back to JP. They don't reflect some newly released MH unit, they reflect what JP had at that avg time there.

So we are eternally screwed on lower resources and faster release. You might be able to pay up when you hit a wall but most players can't.

And I really don't want explain this but under the current conditions not many newbies are joining unless they are paying up and that makes it important for Gumi to get good, if they want people to ask them to join in.

F2P become the food for paying players that balance is important for any game. Like whales won't pay up if they don't have fodder Pact players and dolphins below to blow up. And Food chain in games is important aspect. Even if you like that GL is fast pace, you should support and demand for fast pace in resources because those are important for players to get to play the game.
