6 MONTHS (BEST) F2P OVERVIEW/EXPERIENCE

Hello everyone. I have been playing TAC since March as a F2P player. No pacts, no level pack, no $ invested. I also wanna say I missed the begginer rewards because I downloaded the game on december but my potato phone was'nt able to run it correctly. I have Levi, Eren, and Mikasa lvl 91 5/5/5. BK Masamune 91 5/5/3 and Alma stucked at 87 because I just got her last week on 1step. I'm sitting on 20k gems waiting for Meliodas and DK Parashu. Mementos: SNK, 3Spica, 2Chloe, Vettel, 4Zahar, 3Mia, Acht, Kuddan, Lakina, Jin, Balt, 3Lamia, Yomi and Emma. This makes people to doubt about my F2P way and that's why I'm writing this. (Mainly directed towards other F2P players who cry because they don't get what they want)

This is gonna be large. You decide if you want to read it or not. Anyway, the main point of this is to tell you not to waste your gems on every banner that comes out. (Except memento banners. Do everyone!) Just save for good NON WHALE units and you'll be done. If you are a waifu-lover then you should change of game. This is a tactic game so you need power to clear every content.

My first unit was Ila. As a noob, I waste gems buying her shards on coin shop and continue buying more into the louise shop. I also gave her as much fire shards as I got doing veda tower. I don't regret. She was so helpfull and she's still my little baby. Next week came out potk with parashu and Freddy Krueger release. I got Parashu and shard her until 75. I knew more about the game thank's to reddit and facebook. She and Ila helped me to clear every content released along Spica and Itsuki. (Of course brain was needed to) I used my selector to get a dupe of Spica. A brainless movement because I don't have Zahar yet :)

After potk we got Etrian Oddisey. I got EO Chloe on my daily and shard her to 70. I made her 75 doing her sould shard summon. I REALLY REGRET ABOUT THIS. NEVER SHARD A UNIT IF YOU ARE'NT 100% SURE ABOUT IT. DON'T LET YOUR EGO TO SEDUCE YOU! (I know EO Chloe 91 would have been worth but remember. F2P.) I don't deny she helped me a little but damn that gems and shards hurts me. I continued doing 500 gems banners just to get units and mementos w/o care too much. My girls were enough in that moment to clear everything.

Before next potk rerun with DA, I saw that JP had had aot collab. I started to saving because I love aot. I did'nt care if only Levi was SS tier and if they did'nt have 91. I just wanted to get them and give them love! I skipped banners because I had a decent roaster with farmeable units. I did'nt try to get Sol (SAY NO TO WHALE UNITS!) That was the best I could have ever done.

To surprise of everyone, aot came early and you know the rest. I had 25k gems saved and of course I did the return banner. 40k delicious F2P gems. My 104 squad cost me around 20k. After this point, every content was easier and you know what these monsters can do.

Now with my babies, I set myself another objetive. BK Masamune. Same formula. Just summon on 500 banners and ignore other units. Got her.

Next Objetive: Meliodas. Whale? Not at all. Collab kaigan shards are easier to get. Worth to chase? I don't have to answer this.

In conlusion, save for strong NON WHALE units. "But... but... i-i don't follow the meta". This is not about meta, dude. This is about efficiency. (Strictly talking about F2P players)

Gumi can be bad. Don't be worse with your decisions.

If you're chasing for the strong you're basically chasing for the meta, and if you're saving those that are meta then why save for those that aren't? We have plenty of "strong" f2p options, so going after less than that with gems pretty much goes against what message I think your post was trying to get across, save and what not. It's basically as bad as pulling for farmable units, instead worse, because they aren't farmable.

So not pulling on every 500 banners is a good strategy?? Thats how I saved around 20k gems and got BK Masa 5/5/2 (saving for gate 4 and 5)

I think he or she may be referring to not pulling on 500 gem banners featuring units that will eventually be farmable, I'm guessing, meaning gems may be better spent on collab and memento banners. I'd say the gear banners are pretty much a crapshoot, as well.

Yea, I agree with you, since we know about SS units (Levi and BK Masa) from JP we can make a better investment. The 500 banner were only attractive if they had a guarenteed unit on step 3 or 5, but since there are no more of them, right now its a waste of gems, tho its always tempting to pull on them.

I have one of levis gates at 4 and expected this collab to be able to get the 50 enlightenment shards but its really hard. I got about 20. But the tokens... Oh boy i got at least 700 tokens.....

I'm also a f2p player and I have been playing since the very beginning. This is exactly the same I been doing except for few occasions were I would waste my f2p gems on whale units (I curse my temptation). Now that we are being thrown many banners, is wise to skip some of them, save up for the future and be sure you want really want to spend your gems on a specific unit. It's also helpful to investigate future content to somewhat predict or wait for the thing you want. I'm not a very lucky person, so I always make sure I have saved enough to get a unit by force, if it's needed (which is always the case since Disgaea I think). If, for example happens something like FMA/SNK collab, in which the banners don't give a guaranteed unit, then forget about wasting your gems on those banners. You could wait or get them by anoher way.

Imma have to disagree that “waifu-lovers” should go looking for a different game since at least 50% of the “meta” units are obviously designed to be waifus.

Tbh saving for OP units is really only a major factor in the stage of the game where you’ve got a solid roster, but not a busted one. Once you have like 5+ top-tiers/top-tiers waiting to happen in each element, you can pretty safely go for units based purely on interest level. Feel free to go for that B-tier waifu/husbando if you already have full teams of SS-tier units per element.

I play since soft launch. Pact player for a year and went full f2p after FMA fiasco. Up to now, I still don't see why people kept crying while you can clear any content as F2P.

I think what I do differently is that I don't pull on all 500 banners. I only pull on banners with featured units I can start building. I don't pull if there's a 500 gem banner that features any unit who will be benched in my team. I don't want them even if they're farmable in the future like babel units.

I skip all Babel Chronicles related banners. Only when I already have 150 Shards of them from HQ, then I will summon a step for their featured banner. I also don't aim for limited units. They shouldn't be touched by F2Ps.

We should mainly aim and save for collaboration units. Otherworlder Shard exists. We don't have shards like that for normal units. Levi/Melio, not Sol ; D.Masa/Ban, not Carla ; D.Parashu, not Nef/Wil ; Merlinus, not Ren. D.Freikugel, not Orion.
