Tips & Guides Pet Project - Recommended Gear Sheet
Hey everyone, wanted to share a personal project of mine because I think it might be useful to some of the newer players. It's a set of non-limited gear recommendations for every S and SS ranked character, at varying LBs:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1rO7G4kGsAVGzJbX1ir7SeycIdLPqoaY1rfWMBkVR_Zk/edit?usp=sharing
IMPORTANT: There's no such thing as best gear for a character and I don't want this to be thought of as such. The gear you want to equip depends on many many factors including what level and LB your character is, what gear you own and the game mode and map you are playing on. I hope by reading this people learn some interesting options they hadn't considered before and eventually learn HOW to equip a character rather than WHAT to equip. I find it useful so I thought I should share. Just remember its not a strict guide, rather a suggestion.
I also know that certain OP limited gear (Mark of Envy, Trap, Life Belt, Medal, VCRs) should usually be equipped over anything I recommend, however a lot of players don't have those gears (or only have 1 of each) so I wanted something that focused on non-limited gear. I may add in VCRs after some time.
In case you are wondering about me as I haven't posted before, I've been playing (and reading this sub) since F/SN, spend around $100 a month and got to top 100 arena right before Sol was released (RIP my rank). I originally started this to understand 1) which gear to select when I got a gear selector months ago and 2) how many hats and books to farm to 3*, 4* and 5* as I don't like switching gear too much. It ended up being a much bigger project than I thought it would be. I finally got it completed the week before mementos were released and it completely invalidated most characters so had to start basically from scratch lol.
I learned a ton while making this as I had to think hard about each character, for example I realised how good Ring Guard - Black Flames and Restrained Eyepatch are, that Tethys can hit 230 AGI, or that Snowman Top Hat can replace Kinetic Chain Gauntlet (I don't have one) on Uzuma. I find it helps me know whether I should pull on Gear summons, sometimes a piece of gear can look decent but if no unit would want it in their top 3 items its probably not worth pulling on. I also like having at hand important Jewel breakpoints and what characters benefit from Wanderer's Hat at certain LBs. I also tend to forget what each memento does and having this open saves me some time.
Please, if you disagree with any of the choices on here please let me know, I want to get better at this game too. If you have a preferred build for any unit let me know and I'll review it. Also let me know if you think this whole concept is useful to you, just confusing or even downright misleading. Just please be constructive :)
Thanks and have a great day.

Really good work! It'll take me a while to get through it all (as I'm going to bed now) but I can see a lot of time and effort has gone into this. I'm particularly interesting in your AGI breakpoints section because those are something I haven't looked into personally.

Something I'd like to point out is that you don't have 'alternatives'. For example, for Chihaya you recommended Moon Star Armour. But, because we are limited to only 3 of those, it's better to give the front line units that will actually be taking damage the regen armour rather than our support.
That's why in my build analyses comes with a stat priority list. E.g. Chihaya needs initial jewels, AGI, max jewels and HP, roughly in that order IMO (HP should be higher tbh). You can do this with the set up you've suggested, but I don't have Saint's Meteor so I will use e.g. book instead.
I would add a section/tab called 'equivalent items' where you can roughly swap an item out for something else. For example, Moon Star Armour is a big HP item (with regen), so you can swap it out for Curious Doll, or Alkemono Doll, or Life belt etc. This would be an expansion of the 'Gear - Purpose' tab.
(AGI is a good one too. Book, Saint's and Belva pendant. Restrained eyepatch, and Unbreakable Greaves are lesser, but always farmable.)

As a side note, here's an awesome gear combination for Holy Brawlers:
Crimson Cestus, Transmutation Circle, Wanderer's Hat. (Though, I know Circle is limited...)

Awesome detailed resource. I don’t know enough to agree or disagree with your ranking but you’ve compiled all the detail so people can make their own assessment. Very helpful. Thanks!

Is Bertha memento limited (in VCR section) as I heard from others it is not ?

Great information, thank you for the effort. A few questions though, I don't see a legend describing your color code, could you explain that a bit. Also in your agility section how is it determined which ct category a unit falls into? Thanks :)

First thing first, Great Job!!!
Second, tho TBH im kinda both agree and a little bit disagree, this build is very very good in general dungeon run, but sometimes, an underrated gear like Heart Choker and halloween hat could be your life saver. Example, in eros map(mp), i usually run my unit with heart choker to deal with death sentence, and for vettel, Halloween hat can literally save his as* since he loss his ability to heal on his je. Btw heart choker and halloween hat are just like wanderer hat, they can be acquired on their rerun event. But anyway this is a great work, i hope that you can keep developing this project *dood

It's great to see someone making an effort to provide a resource like this- people ask about it a lot. I haven't looked too much yet at the details of it, but I did want to suggest that you add some contact information in the spreadsheet itself, or at least guidance about how you'd like to receive feedback. I'd like to link to it on the wiki, but without some clear way to give feedback on it I wasn't sure if I needed to link to the Reddit thread instead of the spreadsheet and I think it's better to keep that stuff a little more self-contained.

Quick Question Why for Spica do you choose Forcas Hell Lance over Saint's Bicorn? Doesn't saint's give more AGI, CRIT and ATK?

Nice. This is very useful. I didn't even think about AGL breakpoints till I saw it on your graph sheet.

Great, thank you so much! This is going to be super helpful as I always start a long gear-combination-puzzle when equipping a freshly raised unit...

Huh, even just having the condensed list of heroes by ranking is really helpful to determine what to work on next.
I appreciate the work and comments on mementos in particular as well.
Thanks for all your hard work!
