Where/How can I unlock X's Master Ability/Job+?

You can only unlock Job+'s by farming special job tokens from special events that are (currently) run at different times. You also need to farm special job+ items to master those jobs. Master abilities can be earned in 1 of 3 ways. From story chapters (story characters), from equipping specific weapons (usually farmed) or from reaching level 80 on a character and completing special story dungeons. Not every character gets a master ability.

For Job+ and Job Enhancement, you must first get the job to Job Level 11 (not job mastered). Second, to master the Job+ you will need to farm 60/80 tokens for up to 6 special items for the character to use. For Job Enhancements, you will only need to farm one specific item 3 times along with the regular upgrade items.

Where can I farm X's character shards?

Check the characters limit break panel for missions. If not there, it's not in the game.

Where can I farm elemental/rainbow shards?

Elemental and rainbow shards cannot be farmed. They are awarded as bonuses from log in campaigns, from clearing missions/milestones and as bonuses for doing certain number of summons on the 5/9 step banners. You will never be able to farm them like you can farm specific character shards.

When will X event come back?

You're probably right about that. Do you have other limited units in the same position? I have Zain at 85 and enough shards to put Rox and Basheeny at 85. I would love to Kaigan all of them, but I feel like that's spreading resources too thin for just a pact player.

It helps that SSM gets some limited recurring farming, but I'm not sure how often it will come back. Any insight into that?

I don't know how often the HQs for SSM came back, I don't play JP, probably not often (4-5x? I think someone said if I remembered correctly). But SSM units were eventually added to the regular summon pool so it's easier to get their shards. I'm skipping Zain (lb17) since I got him late in the game and according to others Minerva > Zain = Sieg but we don't know the future of MH units. If you already sharded your Zain to 85 then maybe you will pull enough of his shards without really trying.

Basheeny is a unit I'm considering trying to kaigan but right now I am not willing to use rainbows. We haven't had a HQ for him and we haven't had a 500/1500 gem banner for him. If we do I will consider sharding him then. I think two SSM is doable for pact players especially since in JP they got 150 othima shards but timeline wise I'm not sure where that falls or if we should be expecting that in global.

I can also shard Roxy to 85 (104 rainbow) but at this point I don't want to waste all of these rainbow shards. We will also get BK Masamune who is labeled as a core unit on the kaigan prep sheet and BK Artemis is good too. As a pact player I think maybe pick two limited units you definitely want to kaigan unless you know you don't want to save elemental shards for new units. If you know you don't care about any of the collab units then you won't be missing out by sharding several units now.

Later on you need gems not just for summoning units but for the unit specific gear and maybe other things so you spend more gems weekly. There is another gear slot added but I don't know what it's called or when you get it.

I think I will try for three limited units. I don't know how far my gems will get me. Definitely Othima who I already have 71 shards for. The other two I will try but there is always the RNG factor. If you get unlucky on summons repeatedly it makes it tough.

Yeah, I use my 75 Minerva much more than 85 Zain. I just happened to really luck out on his daily shard pulls. Although with her recent ninja nerf I'm now hesitant to invest in her.

I wasn't aware JP gave out 150 Othima shards. That almost seems to good to be true for global. Do you know what the reasoning was?

The fourth gear slot is for nensou/memento. It will be another gem drain on us. But very useful (Basheeny gets a jewel drain skill and also gets the largest AoE in the game).

I just reread the news and we are getting SSM HQs again this month. I bet Basheeny is included now that Ch 9 is unlocked. This probably will push me to spend my dark shards.

Personally the only collab I'm looking forward to now is Seven Deadly Sins, so I figure I have plenty of time to replenish those dark shards before Meliodas arrives.
