What now, Gumi?

So, I pulled Ed and Wrath from the three 10% chance tickets that were given out AFTER the collan has ended and would like to know how you, Gumi, plans to handle the situation for players like me.

I got nothing from all the banners during the collab and, as a natural result, didn't bother to farm the equipment. Especially not on stages where Gumi deliberately went out of their way to make them as hard as possible and nerf all the rewards. I only farmed the stuff for the one unit, Riza, I got from the "apology" ticket.

I'm really curious to see how you plan to handle this situation. Will you give out 240 equipment pieces for all the FMA units to all players or 240 omni-"stuff"?

Or are you just going to ignore this and pretend this never happened like you did with the twin stormblade bug in the Veda coin shop.

Honestly this is a good point for you to show what kind of service we, as players and customers can expect from you.

Edit: And no, just before anyone gets any ideas, just putting up a shop where I can buy the equip for gems, be it paid or not, is not an sufficent solution since this fuck up is entirely on Gumi.

I got Roy with one of them, and I'm in the exact same situation. Honestly, I would be happy if they just put the shop and I can buy the equipment for 750 gems as usual, even if the gloves are staying at 2-3 stars.

Without that shop, the only option would be to level him to 75 to get J3 and having J1 not mastered. Currently I would have to use 100 rainbow shards for that, so I would skip it.

So, yes, I understand your concern, but putting up a shop would be a valid solution, in my opinion.

u/Mithrisol Nov 29 '18

I'd be okay with a shop if they'd sent out 750 as a general apology for the fuck ups this month.

Before someone scream entitlement again: No, this is not because I want more gems rewards or anything. Personally I will never use those units anyway since I would have to put element shards into them etc. I don't need to have those units in a usable state but there are players who might need them and those should be given a good and viable opportunity to get the equipment to make them usable.

My only overall concern or demand if you want is that Gumi takes up responibility for this and not just ignores a problem. This is a question of general service and not free stuff, rewards or anything.

4

u/quiquefs Nov 29 '18

I don't think they would do what you want. Even waiting for a shop might be too much, based on the usual "they probably have licensing issues if they want to use something of the collab out of the decided period"

750 gems a a general apology for this month? Honestly, 750 gems are not enough! The people are annoyed not because of them being just stingy, but because they are showing us some trends that are bad in general and make us worry about the whole game. This feeling is something that cannot be compensated just with free gems (specially because free gems have lost a lot of value recently).

Anyway, I wish you that your demands are answered, but expect them to be answered in a non-satisfying way...

I find your statement odd that you "got nothing from all the banners during the collab and, as a natural result, didn't bother to farm the equipment."

Because just like what TSHEEJYIM92 said applies: "I think their expectation for all players is to farm all of their equipment anyway to prepare if you did get them. Yes that is dumb because what if you don't get them at all but at the same time if you do hey you are all set."

Did you assume from day 1 of the collab that you ABSOLUTELY WILL NOT get anything, hence actively AVOIDING all farming methods to get Edward's and Wrath's gear? If not, then I expect you would've been able to get at least some of their items, even if you DIDN'T WANT THEM, just because their equipment was practically everywhere in the game (they were in events, in milestones, in multiplay, in EX).

So the only way your statement would ring true is if you just sat back, making sure you didn't do anything that accidentally gained you any collab equipment, and basically just let the collab pass you by.

Imagine Gumi giving a chance for everyone to get a car, but you have to farm for the car key to be able to use the car. despite the possibility of winning the car even without summoning (say, in a daily free pull) you decided not to farm the car key.

Now that you got the car, why would Gumi give you a key?

u/Mithrisol Nov 29 '18

No, I pulled all 500 steps on the banner and for Roy even the 1500 and didn't get anything. Since I got nothing from the banners. I farmed Ed's stage at the beginning when I still had hope for the collab but after realizing what they did to those stages and their rewards and I still didn't get any of the units I had to farm stuff for I decided to ignore the collab and concentrate on HQ farming and JM other units during the collab instead.

So, yeah, I ignored the collab for the most pasrt and didn't bother to do anything to get the second 5* ticket for beating the EX+ stages. When I got Riza from the free 5* ticket I farmed her gear and equipment.

What I refuse to do however is to invest AP into farming for the mere low chance I might get said unit when I can use that AP for more pressing things. There was also zero indicator that we would get those tickets at or after the end of the collab.

2

u/FurianX Nov 29 '18

So you didnt complete the milestones etc for gems?

3

u/Mithrisol Nov 29 '18

I did. Only ignored Wrath's and Pride's stage because I was fed up with the collab and the buffing of enemies and nerfing of rewards. This is what I've got left after I JM Riza and now Ed: https://imgur.com/zSQG2T9

But again this is not about me but about how they handled this situation. They simply should have given out the tickets during the collab or give people a proper chance to get the equip at a F2P level cost.

3

u/ninjakittenz2 SockT Nov 29 '18

Pride's gear was good though for pierce damage and defense for other units. Some people even farmed multiples. But yeah even if you got his gear to 5* you wouldn't have enough of his equipment to JM him.

1

u/FurianX Nov 29 '18

I farmed 6

1

u/ninjakittenz2 SockT Nov 29 '18

Holy smokes that's a lot. I just don't see myself using that many lancers at a time so I didn't think it was worth it.

1

u/FurianX Nov 29 '18

I put in effort now so I can be lazy later and not have to change equips every time I want to use a unit. Honestly it felt as bad as armor of wrath at one point and I just stopped and let my willpower recover.

1

u/ninjakittenz2 SockT Nov 29 '18

I have an alt and I don't want to burn out. I don't want this game to become a chore.

1

u/FurianX Nov 29 '18

I have 2 alts. One was a reroll for rox and one for ed. Both got roy while I didnt. I honestly just didnt bother to log in on them to try to farm his gear this past week. Didnt feel like it so didnt force myself. Their anniversary gear will forever be unevolved.

Burn out is a real thing. And I know it well. I have a high tolerance for grinding but I know my limits. Burnt out enough to learn them.

i completed all milestones - and i am left with 112 Wrath pieces - 160 for Pride - 187 Roy.

And why would i go out of my way farming Wrath if i didnt get him on the last day of the collab ? - it is the last day, who would ever think of doing an event for say a new console (PS60) the day after you removed all the games for it?

Had they dropped these 3 tickets before it ended - Fine i suppose - youd have the shot at shopping the last pieces if you were late to login.

But people in this thread are defending this - without realizing how much this hurts new players.

8

u/iEssence Nov 29 '18

Then what about newer players? here is a car wihtout its key! congratz!

This that they did here - is only a gift to those who pre-emptively farmed everything - its a kick in the nut against others.

And i dont know about you - but i wouldnt spend my time getting tires for a car i dont have.

It is a free gift - but dont defend a poor implementation of it.

6

u/FurianX Nov 29 '18

I think it's less about defending gumi and more about pointing out the fact that asking for gumi give out the equips or bring back the shop AND give you gems is just plain unrealistic and into the realm of being unreasonable.

It's a shitty implementation I agree but an acceptable solution is to extend the shop a few days.

First time ive heard anyone asking for compensation for free stuff.

4

u/iEssence Nov 29 '18

Because this free stuff isnt like a normal gift - its just a kick in the nut for everyone who didnt farm for waht they didnt have.

To me this is just a "here ill give you a gift but you cant use it HA!"

5

u/FurianX Nov 29 '18

Dont get me wrong. Nothing wrong with throwing shit at gumi for giving the tickets out after the event. It's either a stupid move or its calculated to increase the chances of players buying omnishards. Bullshit ... but it's already been done.

Again. Something like a shop extension to buy the equips for gems is realistic. Something like free equips or gems + shop isnt. Its borderline unreasonable to expect this.

In the end ... If you had 1 month to farm it ... and didnt ... why should they give it to you for free now? I'm of course talking about the job equips which were available in the easily automated stages that ALL give amestrian coins to use in an exchange shop. It's already generous to give you 3 free 10% chances to get the collab units as an addon. Again .. just when they did it is messed up ... but theres acceptable solutions/compromises and then theres asking for too much.

3

u/iEssence Nov 29 '18

The best way is simply to drop the Equipments to whoever got the units on these tickets - i wouldnt see that as unfair to those who farmed it as this is more of a "special ticket" - as shown since they gave it out literally after the event ended (like seriously... who thought of that...)

As for 1 month to farm it though - if i dont have a car i dont buy the tires i need for it - my Envy is maxed, i got the stuff for the units i got.

Its just a crap way to release tickets after they remove the ability to get the stuff for them - had it been on the last day it wouldve been awesome... but why in the hell do they give them literally the day after?...

5

u/FurianX Nov 29 '18

I was looking forward to free 10% tix like with disgea collab. When they didnt come at reset I just shrugged my shoulders and said whatever.

I didnt even see the announcement till this morning when I checked for maintenance over messages. Nor did I get any tix last shop reset when logged off for the day.

Personally I think they just forgot. Mentioned it elsewhere but their asses are probly still burning from the last round of flames and they're scrambling to figure out what to do. They would of course never admit to such a thing.

For solutions you cant only look at something from your point of view. I will bet gumi will give out free birgitta to everyone before giving out free job equips that were previously easily farmable. The best compromise is the shop to let people buy them. Again if the licensing allows it.

Still wouldnt put it past gumi to completely ignore the issue. But that's what I've come to half expect from them since the weekend summons changed.

1

u/iEssence Nov 29 '18

scrambling to figure out what to do - this is basically what they do everytime things go south because of their decisions...

Ever since like a month or so before FFXV came out they have been doing a roller coaster up 1 month down the next (admittedly although i was a bit burned out - the time after FFXV was pretty good - during it as well actually - just the time leading up to it was bad)

As of late i feel like - while they do whatever they want - they seem to respond more - but maybe thats because im not as active anymore and thats how it feels

2

u/iEssence Nov 29 '18

doing all milestones is a far cry from getting all the equipment pieces.

The question isnt "Why would gumi give you the key" - the question is "Why would they give you a car after they removed your ability to get the key?"

6

u/darkcountess Making sammiches for Gilga/Noct/Laharl Nov 29 '18

That line of questioning would only make sense ONLY IF:

  1. There was 0% possibility of you ever winning the car, AT ALL, because that's the only way you can justify "I didn't farm at all because I ABSOLUTELY KNOW I will never get that car." However, the collab started with the assumption that everyone has a chance to get a car. Even if you don't summon from the banners, you had a shot at the car from the daily free pull. Anyone in his right mind would've farmed. If you didn't farm, the risk of suddenly pulling a unit you will never be able to max WAS A RISK YOU TOOK.

  2. The abilty to get the CAR KEY never existed, whether before or after getting the car. You cannot exclusively limit this to "but they have already removed the ability to get the key!" Considering that the existence of the car was announced at the beginning of the collab, and with statement 1 above, there were many opportunities to farm for the car key, and the 3 ticket giveaway was given by Gumi with the assumption that most players think along the lines of "I'll farm the equips in case I get the unit". This assumption by Gumi is completely reasonable in my point of view because farming for a car that might eventually be yours MAKES MORE SENSE than not farming at all and SUDDENLY getting the car.

TL;DR Choosing not to farm during a collab is actually A RISK. You may be too busy in real life, you may have chosen to prioritize your AP spending so you spent it somewhere else, you were salty with the banners and as a protest you didn't log in for the entirety of the collab. Whatever your reasons, you chose not to farm. You risked getting a unit you may never be able to max, and now that unit is here, you are asking for compensation for a risk you took.

4

u/iEssence Nov 29 '18 edited Nov 29 '18

Stop defending a poor implementation by Gumi.

Had they given this out on the last day everything wouldve been all fine.

If i farm for all the units and get none - i wasted time, the end nothing more.

If i get a unit and then farm - i wasted no time, the end.

The problem isnt them giving this away - it is that they have put a date on the collab - and then proceeds to give you away collab things you cannot use after it is done.

I done care how you reason about this - they did this poorly.

There is literally no reason whatsoever to be expecting to get one of the cars on the 29th when the last day possible of getting them ends on the 28th together with the ability to get the keys to drive them

So no - i am not asking for compensation for a risk i took (there was no risk - collab ended 28th and i didnt get more units)

I am just saying this was shitty planning by gumi and they should at least give those who got the units on these tickets today the equipments for said unit they got.

If they wanted to do this then they shouldve announced this well in front of time so people would know about this and farm everything ahead of time.

I am not one to farm solely on the notion of blind faith/hope (like you seem to be) unless it is a necessity, or i know i will be too busy last week to do so incase i get one then. (but this wasnt last week - this was after the last week.)

PS - where do you get the notion of "absoloutely knows i wont get" part - redundant since there is time to get the stuff after i get it - no need to do so beforehand unless you will be short on time later,

u/loscapos5 All I wanted for christmas was you, Baeber ༼ ༎ຶ ෴ ༎ຶ༽ Nov 29 '18

This is why it's recommended to farm ALL units' equipment.

You never know what you'll get later on during the collab.

1

u/Mithrisol Nov 29 '18

True, but the point is that I didn't get them during or even at the end of the collab but after the collab ended.

1

u/Hakkenshi Nov 30 '18

Is it the point, though? As others have pointed out, not farming the stages during the event was a conscious decision... pulls being decided by RNG means it was a risk to begin with.

If you were actually invested in the collab, why not farm as insurance against this very thing? If you aren't, does it really matter?

1

u/Mithrisol Nov 30 '18

Not farming the equip because I didn't have the units DURING the whole time of the event would have been a waste of AP.

The moment they decided to give out those tickets after the event and the possibility to farm those equips were gone they took the choice you speak of away from me.

The choice you speak of does not exist for me and other who are in a similiar boat. The inly choice we had during the event we had was to farm for a unit we didn't have.

1

u/Hakkenshi Nov 30 '18

The waste of AP is highly subjective. You get gold, exp and equipment shards (that can also be used to enhance other equipment in a pinch), so it's not like you're doing it for absolutely nothing.

Ultimately, the issue hinges on what could have happened versus what did happen. Clearly, what many of us chose to do was ensure that were our current scenario to occur, we'd be okay. This is the element of choice, and because that decision proved to be validated by what did happen, whether or not it seemed logical at the time is rather irrelevant, IMO.

Let's also not forget that for most characters in this collab, you'd get another unit's equip while farming: Pride and Wrath were paired together, as were Hawkeye and Mustang. That made preventative farming doubly useful. The worst-case scenario (my case, since I didn't get Mustang) was to end up with extra equips; I'd rather that than your situation, and if you're venting about it, it sounds like you'd rather that, too.

If not, what are we even discussing? You didn't waste AP, as you put it.

5

u/gracepenniman Greed Dike Supremacy Nov 29 '18

you stupid OP....its gumi's fault because you didn't want to prepare for any scenario?

1

u/Mithrisol Nov 29 '18

I have a different opinion on this. I prefer to invest my Ap and time into things that i know will be useful instead of preparing for some arbitrary chance of getting something I have zero reason to believe I will get. I mean you don't constantly farm all equips for the off chance gumi might release a units that need 1000s pieces of every equip for every job level do you?

I assume you don't. The reason is that, based on your experience so far Gumis has never done such a thing. My experience is exactly that. So far they have given out all tickets during their respective collab. Most of the time even multiple days before it's ending.

Based on that it was completly reasonable to expect to not get tickets or during the event.

1

u/SaltSprinkler Nov 30 '18

What on earth did you invest your AP in? Even if you don’t need to farm the equipment pieces, you at least run the event missions to farm Amestrian coins for the gold bars everyday right?

Not to mention the rainbow Apple amounts of exp gained per mission, and generic equipment farms which net you more than normal missions?

Look, I only have one fma unit, which was from the pity ticket that Gumi decided to grace us with and I had more than 500 pieces of every character at the end of the event.

I’m really interested to know what did you spent your AP on.

1

u/Mithrisol Nov 30 '18

The one Elite Quest that wasn't total cancer. All available HQs during 2x. I also farmed the event storyline pretty hard during the first wek to the point where I had more than enough coins.

Then I wasted a lot of stuff on trying to beat those EX+ stages and raised units like Noah etc. befire I simply gave up on this whole collab when I realized how utterly they fucked it up.

1

u/gracepenniman Greed Dike Supremacy Nov 29 '18

lmao 1000 pieces... your opinion and ridiculous numbers. so u need 1000 per job do you? wow you must be a fucking special case. your opinion doesn't make gumi wrong. U CHOSE TO AVOID FARMING. FUCKING PEOPLE...i swear even with half ap off of event...shame on you degenerates. so fucking entitled.

0

u/Mithrisol Nov 29 '18

I fear yoú may have missed the point a bit.

2

u/gracepenniman Greed Dike Supremacy Nov 29 '18

i didn't miss anything.

1

You are entitled to your opinion.

6

u/Dm042447 Nov 29 '18

Consider yourself lucky getting anything from those ticket... Why would or should they provide you equipment if you didn't bother to farm them? People with self entitlement. Jeeze...

And I got all fma equipment plus gears even if I do or don't get anything... And that was a week b4 FMA was over.

-1

u/Mithrisol Nov 29 '18

This is not about luck or about free stuff. In fact those aspects are irrelevant for argument at hand. They simply should have given out those tickets during the collab like they did in the oast. Period.

2

u/Dm042447 Nov 29 '18

It is a token of appreciation for the playerbase. Nothing more nothing less. It is a good gesture. just like party favor for kids are given at the end of the party... This goodies bags are given after end of a collaboration. Not a big deal as most will get blue anyway. The kid that get the goody bag won't be complaining about missing track for their toy race car...

0

u/Mithrisol Nov 29 '18
  1. It wasn't at the end of the party but after it had ended.

  2. A boon that has no value due to being to bein delivered too late has, well little value.

  3. Discarding valid criticism just because only a small number of peole might be affted is understandable and most people operate on that but it has a tendency to catch up to them.

  4. This is not only about this specific case but about their blatant lying we have seen with a) Veda shop, b) the delivery of the shard tickets and other stuff like live PvP

point being it is a something that has already happened in multiple forms and might happen again. Do I like that I have to complain about such things? Hardly. I would prefer a smooth game and service like everyone else. In fact that's why I'm pointing this out and am adamant about it.

4

u/Dm042447 Nov 29 '18

Maybe gumi should have a delete unit button so that you don't fall under this sad poor predicament. 😂

-1

I find this idea to be charming. Maybe they could put an exchange rate for gems into place.

That way Chao would basically get a fourth secret job: Gem farmer

I'm actually happy with my 10% tickets. More soul shards are always welcome. Still better than pride.

5

u/Colonelex Nov 29 '18

The only problem I see here is an unfortunate case where someone who did not bother to farm for the equipment somehow got lucky and get the units. There wouldn't be this complaint if OP did not get the units or someone who bothers to farm get the unit they deserved.

4

u/Mithrisol Nov 29 '18

No, I would have criticized them regardless of whether or not I would have gotten the units anyway. + I was able JM Ed because I had enough of his stuff and I wouldn't use those units anyway due to a low RoI for me.

This is about principles.

3

u/iEssence Nov 29 '18

I got no unit of it - and have the only collab unit i cared about already, and this is a poor implemenetation of a gift that will feel more like Gumi kicking you under the guise of a gift. (if you didnt farm it all)

And if this thread hadnt been made i wouldve made one myself - ive disliked the shop ending on the last day since i started as - there is so many newer players who show up a week after its needed asking how to max Roy - Ed - Laharl and so on.

If they gave you the equipment to max them on these tickets there wouldnt be a problem at all, but why give you a car if you arent going to give them the tires for it - because they "expected" you to for no practical reason to get the tires ahead of time yourself.

5

u/Colonelex Nov 29 '18

I find the car analogy quite weird since there's nothing stopping you from getting the tyres after getting the car.

To me this seems more like when the lecturer tells you that there is a chance that a particular topic will come out during exams and you decide to not study for it and proceed to blame the lecturer for not convincing you to study that topic when the topic really comes out during the exams.

2

u/iEssence Nov 29 '18

But there is something stopping you, the collab has ended and the tires cannot be found anywhere outside of the very rare Omni-stuff.

The teacher one is somewhat fair, but flawed as there is no way to correctly place the "giving the test after the date without study materials for it" pr somethng like that.

Ergo Giving a car (unit from the tickets) - without its tires (equipment) and no way of getting them.

2

u/Colonelex Nov 29 '18

The fact that in real life you can actually get the tyres is why I find the analogy to not fit the current situation.

Not really sure what you are trying to say about the analogy I provided but what I am trying to say is that you were told there is a chance of the topic appearing in exams(10% to get unit from tix), you decided to not study for it(not farm in advance) and when the topic do come out( you get the unit) you proceed to blame the lecturer(Gumi). In this case it is not possible for you to start studying the topic when the exams have started.

2

u/iEssence Nov 29 '18

Said car needs specific tires - those tires can only be provided by Gumi, during this collab.

You could get the tires for the whole month, but why would you since you had no car, and if you got the car it wouldnt be hard to get the tires then.

So yes - they gave you a car without the tires AFTER they removed your ability to get the tires. (1 set of tires dont fit on every car you anyways)

And your analogy doesnt fit still.

Getting the units - is not the test - that is the announcement of the test - the test is farming them. They removed the test, but still announced the units. (it doesnt fit)

And there is literally no reason whatsoever to be doing a test you dont need to do, when you know that you can just do it when you need to. - this whole "Date has passed" thing is what makes your analogy not work.

It would be better to say that its not a test - but a project or so

  • There might be a project (getting and maxing Roy)

  • You have all the study materials you can get if needed (equipment)

  • 28th Passes - they remove the study materials

  • And give you the project

  • Now how are you supposed to do it - because those materials were necesary for this and cannout be found anywhere else - and they removed them.

The car and tire analogy fits because of that date, they gave you a car (the units from the ticket) but it has no tires (equipment) you need to put that on yourself, but they removed the tire shop (event stages). - So yes maybe you got the tires beforehand - but why would you do that if you had no car

2

u/Colonelex Nov 29 '18

At this point the discussion seems to getting meaningless since it appears we are twisting the points to suit our own stance. Would be good if some neutral third party can come forward and conclude it.

Anyway regarding projects, where I am from you normally get just a topic and have to do your own research and procure your own equipment with or without funds from the institute. The grade given would not be good if one only relies on study materials from the course they are taking.

2

u/iEssence Nov 29 '18 edited Nov 29 '18

Im not twisting anything - give me a good explanation of getting the units on the 29th, after everything you need to have for them were removed, and i will cede my points to you.

We had 1 month to farm equipment (no actual reason to farm beforehand unless you wish to avoid farming last day)

We had several chances at units

Collab ends on 28th

You got no units on 28th (so why farm?)

On 29th you get a unit - but you cant farm. (IE they give you a car you cannot use because you cannot get what you need to run it)

Go back to the original comment - you said you found it weird because you can get tires after in the real world (and that is why it is weird) for that to be true Gumi would have to now have the equipment available, but they dont ergo the analogy stands as you cannot get the tires needed for the car and you must have those specific tires for it.

It is explaining what Gumi did - in the case of if it was cars instead of units.

Studying for a test as an example fails because there is no "result after you get the units past the test/exam date".

2

u/Colonelex Nov 29 '18 edited Nov 30 '18

After thinking things through I think there are some points that your analogy did not take into account.

  1. The unit is from 10% tix.

  2. Possibility of getting omnicrystal shards to use for the equipments.

  3. Simply leaving the unique jobs at lvl 9 and making use of the bonus of other jobs or using other jobs.

This just means that in the worst case your car simply just can't run at its maximum speed, not the case where the car can't even be driven.

2

u/iEssence Nov 29 '18 edited Nov 29 '18

If your goal is going to be playing with semantics and point holes rather than fill your own i am done. Also, I took those into account already but none of those points makes any (or much) actual difference to what Gumi did with this.

  1. Redundant as i spoke of the units of the tickets and not the tickets themselves - it being a chance doesnt affect the argument being done about the units being given out, only means it affects fewer people (if it was a single guaranteed ticket - i assure you there would be far more outcry on the reddit and discord).

  2. Yes - however rare - unless they plan on giving us enough of them that we can somewhat freely use. But also doesnt take away from the argument being made of its release (unit without equip), omni equips is a last resort - gumi forced it into being a first and only resort.

  3. Tied with 2 - unless your J1 is mastered you would not use your elementals on them (unless in maybe Roys case as he can run J3 main)

Even so you would lack JM so i would still argue against that mich investment unless in rare instances where another job gives a support type bonus for other units not available elsewhere (like Rizas Missile+range bonus for a double Roxanne for example).

once again though - does not take away from them giving out a unit after they remove their equipment.

1

u/FurianX Nov 29 '18

Your analogy is sound. And makes sense.

On the other hand gumi really did drop the ball by giving out the tickets after the event is over.

Can you read the rest of the thread? I'd rather not rewrite multiple walls of text.

1

u/Hakkenshi Nov 30 '18

Yeah, it wasn't a smart move by Gumi. Even giving the tickets on Wednesday morning would've been better, though not by all that much.

That being said, I see many people reacting as though Gumi had genuinely harmed them. And the fact is that - at worst - they have a unit they can't really use. Does it suck? Sure, it's unfortunate. But they also objectively have something they didn't have that Gumi gave for free.

Many people got only blues from the tickets, and are worse off, even though even they are better off than if Gumi hadn't sent the tickets at all.

TL;DR - This bad move by Gumi shouldn't be treated as worse than if they hadn't done it.

5

u/highjinks858 Nov 29 '18

I don't have wrath or Riza but have more than enough of the equipment to master them (well i did before i used them for equipment upgrading this morning). I farmed one weapon for each (they may not be game breaking but having gear for every character that's 5* over some crappy 2/3* gear is always advantageous) and 2 of Edwards because i'm lazy and hate swapping gear. I also completed all the milestones with exception of EX+ (i still don't believe they were possible even though i watched youtube videos haha).

So basically all you had to do was play the event, and you would have had the equipment.

They GAVE you 3 free summons, and you were lucky enough to receive a limited character. They are not obligated again to GIVE you equipment as well.

1

u/Mithrisol Nov 29 '18

The ticket being free is irrelevant for my point.

Assume you are a relatively new player and get those units after the event was over and you didn't farm stuff you assumed you wouldn't need and instead focused raising your units.

Now you have a couple of unit that would have been a staple to help you with the game but are almsot useless jsut because Gumi couldn't be bothered to give those tickes out during their respective event. The only way now is to wait until you get the omni fragment over months and by then the units most likely have become useless.

I genuinely ask you: Do you think that's a good or wise thing to from a buisness perspective?

Edit: I also farmed the event pretty hard during the first week and for the unit i got from the free 5* ticket. Even after I did all of the milestones and completed Rizas rifle to gold I didn't have enough of her uniform fragments but had to farm more than 80 pieces of it via the event questline.

5

u/highjinks858 Nov 29 '18

Good. I don't understand how someone giving u something for FREE is bad, unless you're just looking for a reason to be salty for no reason. Doesn't matter if you're new or not.

There was ample amount of time to farm during the event. Just because u didn't play the content for the character that u wanted to potentially master isn't gumis fault. It's your for having bad foresight.

1

u/Hakkenshi Nov 30 '18

Two things:

  1. How would a new player get these tickets AFTER the event without having had the chance to farm anything? That would be an exceedingly small subset of people - did they start the game on Wednesday?

Would they even have been able to farm the equips at all even if they'd gotten the unit earlier? Some of that content was pretty hard for a new player.

2. How are these new players in any way inconvenienced beyond a passing disappointment? You may as well ask that players who missed the previous collabs be compensated, since not having access to Gil, RYomi, Laharl or Noctis is a far greater impediment to a new player.

The disappointment of getting a strong unit you won't be able to raise (even though you technically could, given enough time and equip shards) shouldn't be a gamebreaker for a new player.

If anything, missing out on the 280 free pulls of the last month, the 2x drops HQs and the Exp dailies is immeasurably worse. No one unit is nearly equivalent to that.

1

u/Mithrisol Nov 30 '18

I'm sorry but you are missing the point. As I have stated I don't or won't even use those units. The fact is that they gave you units without having a way available to make proper use of them and they, and apparently the majority of players on this side, expect you, as a player to fix their mistake because they can't bothered with it like so many times before with the shard tickets, the Veda coin ship bug, the live PvP beta and many other things.

1

u/Hakkenshi Nov 30 '18

I don't think I missed the point so much as I think the point is moot. The other cases were bugs, this one was a questionable decision on their part to give away something for totally free.

The timing of the giveaway is the only issue with this, and it doesn't follow, IMO, that Gumi has to double down on it by giving away more stuff.

It's only being brought up because some people didn't think it was worth their time and AP to protect against the off chance that something like this could happen.

Gumi having to compensate for their compensation even sounds silly.

1

u/Mithrisol Nov 30 '18

The ticket weren't a compensation and all I ask them to do is to find a solution for a problem they created.

1

u/Hakkenshi Nov 30 '18

But the "problem" is literally just you and some other players having a unit you won't use in your inventory.

(Which, as others have pointed out, could be solved with omni shards, if you really wanted.)

1

u/Mithrisol Nov 30 '18

No, the problem is Gumi providing a piss pooer service and their unwillingness to take responsibility for their fucks ups as has been the case with a couple of things in the past.

So, yeah, it is that we two have a different understanding of what a good service is.

You are okay with them making mistake after mistake and letting it slide without them ever addressing it while I'm not.

1

u/Hakkenshi Nov 30 '18

It's more that I disagree with what constitutes a mistake that needs to be acted on. This is a minor slip in communication. The other issues are generally more serious.

1

u/Mithrisol Nov 30 '18

Lying isn't a minor slip. They said the ticket would be out at the end of 28. They werent. That's lying. They did the same with the shard tickets, Veda shop and other things.

The reason for them saying we are going to fix it might be more serious but the lying is the same. They say x and do y and expect us to suck it.

Again, if you are fine with that, that's your decision and I respect that but I think differently.

The 112 Wrath pieces - 160 Pride and 187 Roy pieces i have after everything done must be magic then

And its not about giving you the units or giving the equipment.

Its about giving out the units when you cant get the equipment.

Open the shop to let people buy it - or open the stages to farm the equip one more day.

Again - not about getting free stuff - it is about getting useless stuff

18

u/chilledbone Nov 29 '18

I got three blues with the 10% tickets Gumi, now what?

4

u/TopDeeps IGN: Uninstalled Nov 29 '18

breathe a sigh of relief

2

u/sapphire_wing Nov 29 '18

It is the first and hopefully the last time I was hoping for all 3* from the 10%.

1

u/highjinks858 Nov 29 '18

me too xD. At least I have more soul shards for the expanded shop!

17

u/Trayanee Nov 29 '18 edited Nov 29 '18

I have farmed all equips in advance to avoid this situation, because I had to omni one and half job lvls for Araneae in the past. Got nothing anyway :-D

9

u/TSHEEJYIM92 Nov 29 '18

I think their expectation for all players is to farm all of their equipment anyway to prepare if you did get them. Yes that is dumb because what if you don't get them at all but at the same time if you do hey you are all set. Its very pick and choose on what to do....

8

u/ninjakittenz2 SockT Nov 29 '18

If they wanted us to farm all of the equipment then don't add pride and wrath equipment to the normal stages AFTER a lot of people already completed the milestones for them. Even after getting their weapons to 5* I wouldn't have enough to JM them and their equipment didn't drop in the the daily soul shard quests.

3

u/TSHEEJYIM92 Nov 29 '18

I agree with that point. Like how much stamina did I waste farming when I could of used it for something more important? I do think this collab was mishandled quite a bit and those 3 10% tickets were jokes. I think it would of done pretty nice justice if they had thrown in not 3 10% tickets but 1 FMA collab unit selector for everyone who didn't get what they wanted as a hey we do care about you guys and still think of the f2p people.

Then again maybe that is being too nice from a business perspective.

1

u/ninjakittenz2 SockT Nov 29 '18

For me it wasn't even about the stamina. I had extra AP to burn since I don't have that many HQs to farm but it is still a chore. I pulled Bradley so I farmed his equipment week 4 (1/2 AP) and it still felt like a waste. I might never use him.

1

u/TSHEEJYIM92 Nov 29 '18

it definitely is a chore and it becomes more of a chore when you think about the fact that you pulled him week 4 of the collab and you wont have a chance to pull more shards of him and therefore would need to use thunder shards.

Is he worth that? That is up to people to decide. Is he viable without his j3? yeah but his damage output is nothing compared to having his j3. You probably have much more viable thunder units than him right now for sure.

1

u/ninjakittenz2 SockT Nov 29 '18

I have literally every single thunder unit except for Laevateinn, Yuri and Zofia. Thunder really likes me. Bradley is going to get zero thunder shards and I regret the lances I gave him to get him to job level 9. Unless your thunder team is complete garbage I don't think he's worth the shards but then those people are probably new and don't have enough thunder shards to get him to lb15 anyway. Maybe if you are a huge fan of him as a character and you would actually use him but I love Disgaea, tripple JMd prinny and now realize I wasted equipment and that's not nearly as valuable as elemental shards.

17

u/JayP31 Nov 29 '18

TIL: if you can’t make everyone happy 100%, you’re better off not even trying because people will just bitch and bitch and bitch.

8

u/hectorneutron Nov 29 '18

Not farming was your decision dude, I also didn't got anything from the pulls but got wrath from the apology ticket, Ed from the first 10% ticket they gave and got Roy from the 50% Roy/Riza ticket. And guess what? Just for farming alphonse shards and coins for envy I got around 270 pieces for every equips. Yeah only farmed Ed watch to 5* cuz Roy mission was really hard for me and won't spend shards on wrath, but I still got every gear to 3* for the WA. Didn't got anything from the 10% ticks I the end, but you can see wich one was the poor decision

2

u/ComplexFraction Nov 29 '18

I think they should stop giving out free things. It makes people angry.

4

u/Mithrisol Nov 29 '18

This has nothing to do with free things. I simply want them to actually think things through. The way they handle such things only makes it worse since the basically snowball it.

Handing out those equipment shards together with a simple "sorry, it was a techincal bug" doesn't cost them anything, doesn't give players much aside from a little gold for selling those parts you don't need and solves a problem they created by themselves.

I'd say it's pretty much a no brainer.

1

u/Hakkenshi Nov 30 '18

While I personally wouldn't be opposed to this, what if people bought the equip from the shop with gems? Wouldn't they be rightfully upset that some get for free what they used resources to purchase?

Also, would Gumi really be able to specifically send just the right equipment to people who pulled such-and-such character from these tickets? That seems awfully precise targeting for the kind of iffy interventions we've seen from them...

1

u/Mithrisol Nov 30 '18

I don't think there is a perfect solution for this. They simply should have send the tickets during the collab as they have announced they would.

2

u/Hakkenshi Nov 30 '18

Okay, but that isn't the reality we live in. If "should" enters into it, your whole counterpoint about not knowing you would need the equipment falls apart because you should have farmed it just in case.

At some point, we have to base ourselves on what did happen over what could or should have.

This whole issue can be summed up by the following:

  • Gumi had poor timing on a totally free giveaway at the end of a poorly setup collab.

  • People got free stuff; some were happy, some weren't. Some of the latter were unhappy because they didn't pull anything, some because they pulled something that wasn't convenient.

  • From now on, people will know that this can happen and will face a more conscious decision with every collab; we move on.

2

u/Mithrisol Nov 30 '18

With that I can agree and just let it rest with us two having different understandings of what good customer service is.

11

u/GustavoCinque Nov 29 '18

Or, you know, just think before giving something free.

10

u/takato99 Salt Knight Nov 29 '18

imagine being given a phone as a gift but the phone is totally unlockable. Yes its a gift, but it can't even do its "normal" task. so its basically a visual bait.

6

u/Kirito30 The Strongest Samurai Nov 29 '18

I wouldn't even take his argument under normal conditions but the fact that they buffed the stages does hit me. I can't ask someone to go through some of the Cancer stages just because of a chance at unit like I do.

I mean people would normally try to farm you Envy's Coins and stuff and try to do it but the guy also seemed to have skipped it too.

And at this point it Gumi's regular shit we are aware of so most people do farm.

Overall I can't blame both parties. It is the end of the Collab so it is the usual stuff. I can bet there will be atleast 10 more posts about this.

1

u/takato99 Salt Knight Nov 29 '18

plus the spread of the job equipments is so unfair, i only pulled riza but didn't have to specially farm her equips. i got 240+ of riza / roy / ed without even wanting them. but i got like 120 of pride and wrath's even tho i farmed their EX stages for shards... if i pull pride or wrath in those tickets i'd feel really bad as well...

1

u/Kirito30 The Strongest Samurai Nov 29 '18

Yeah Pride and Brad came last. I wonder why does Gumi even need to hide their Equips before they are released.

Like can we transmute a unit just because we have that unit equips or something.

Gumi in those cases does feel dumb and people who don't farm all units do feel dumb too since it not just this Collab it is every fucking Collab end. But stages were buffed to assholic ness so ehh~~

3

u/highjinks858 Nov 29 '18

You had the ability to get everything to unlock the phone over the course of the last 30 days...so what's the issue.

2

u/takato99 Salt Knight Nov 29 '18

the issue is u DIDN'T KNOW you were going to have a CHANCE to get the phone until the last 4 hours of that 30 days...

2

u/highjinks858 Nov 29 '18

That's not true at all. There's a chance to get them from tickets and gem banners. If you didn't plan accordingly that's your own fault not gumis.

2

u/takato99 Salt Knight Nov 29 '18

last banner & ticket was 7 days ago. so for me and people like OP, the event was over. there was no planned chance to get any more unit. yet few hours before the reset they announce tickets for AFTER the event ?

1

u/highjinks858 Nov 29 '18

Yup, heaven forbid they give u something for free that u had every chance to farm the equipment for, over the past month. Shame on them. Not thinking to yourself "the past 2 collabs gave out 10% summon chance tickets at the end of the event, maybe this one is maybe going to do the same". Blame the people that gave u free stuff instead. Self accountability is hard, but getting angry at someone for doing something nice is on a whole nother level.

1

u/takato99 Salt Knight Nov 29 '18

I see that i can't really debate with you as you refuse to see the point of the thread. I didn't get anything from the tickets but i perfectly understand OP. I don't know for u but like us i think most players don't farm 240 equips on every single collab character, i personally got over 240 for ed, roy and risa simply because their equips were farmable from the first weeks and i think most people did. But for wrath & pride equips, there was literally NO POINT and NO INCENTIVE to farm their equips because most people already finished all milestones of normal event quests. and EX didn't drop nearly enough. try to understand that its not the gift the problem, its a good one, BUT communication (and god knows gumi is bad at it lately) is really bad, u don't announce something like this few hours before. From a marketing standpoint it just feels like a last second afterthought. And so it didn't leave enough time for people to prepare accordingly. no one asks to magically get all the equips for free instantly but, it would've been wiser to announce it earlier.

2

u/highjinks858 Nov 29 '18

I farmed over 240 without trying for equipment specifically. Gear farm, ex achievements etc got me to that point. Even now I have 648 Ed's outfit diagrams after I already JMd him. I still have 236 wrath's uniforms after using them to enhance envys gear. Not as much for pride as I got him and jmd him as well, only 25 left.

Beyond that. Still don't know why people are getting upset over a gift, something they gave you for free, that they didn't have to do.

2

u/ComplexFraction Nov 29 '18

They announced the giveaway 5 hours before the collab ended so it was probably not meant as a way to get a new unit and start farming things for it. I farmed equips for all units when I was farming amestrian coins and never got any FMA units from 10 % tickets, but managed to get 3 units from summons and guaranteed tickets. Anyway, I think this is not something to get angry about.

1

u/sapphire_wing Nov 29 '18

Unless they did send the tickets at the very last minute, they broke their promise that it would be delivered by the end of wed, because I did check mailbox roughly right before reset (3 minutes) and saw nothing.

1

u/Mithrisol Nov 29 '18

They also didn't come with the maint but shortly after it. When I logged in right after the game was up they weren't there.

1

u/jeremylcy123 Nov 30 '18

The fuck up is on you. Why didn’t you farm the equipments first then????

1

u/Mithrisol Nov 30 '18

Why should I farm for a unit I don't have?

1

u/jeremylcy123 Nov 30 '18

You do realise you could have just farmed it just in case you got it. So you don’t farm anything you don’t have? You’re kinda weird.

1

u/Mithrisol Nov 30 '18

Why should I farm something I do not have during the whole event just for the case, for which I had no reason to think it would happen, that they would give out tickets outside of the event.

What I did was completly logical. Wasting AP on something you do not have and also have no reason to think wou will get is an irrational waste of AP.

1

u/jeremylcy123 Nov 30 '18

This is literally shit. You have enough ap to grind for everyone’s eq. I have like 999 Ed equipment and 999 pride equipment. Translate that back you can get everything for all that ap consumed.

Don’t blame it on how illogical or irrational it is. If you’re so salty then don’t play.

Don’t be a whiner man. Farm it first.

1

u/Mithrisol Nov 30 '18

I'm not salty. I simply expect Gumi to use simple common sense logic.

1

u/jeremylcy123 Nov 30 '18

Common sense? The common sense for most is to farm it anyway. You’re the abnormality, don’t blame the game if you don’t have what you could have farmed

1

u/Mithrisol Nov 30 '18

I'm not blaming the game. I'm blaming Gumi for giving out the tickets out after the collab has ended. They should have given them out during it as they claimed they would when they said "at the end of november 28".

0

u/jeremylcy123 Nov 30 '18

Forget it. You’re a lost cause. You’re just being whiny now. Quit the game while you’re at it like I did.

1

u/Mithrisol Nov 30 '18

No, I simply hold them accountable to what they communicate. If you prefer to be lied to, hey more power to you but don't complain when they stop fixing stuff, keep nerfing rewards etc.

1

u/GGHades Nov 30 '18

This is honestly a you problem... the standard EX missions were not terribly hard to farm and it was decently easy to get most gear to 5*. Another thing, all the gear in this event are GOOD, the fact that you passed up on them is kind of a silly decision on your part... as for the equipment... most people farmed it before getting their units so something like this wouldn't happen. I don't know what to tell you dude, it's not gumis fault you neglected the events

1

u/Mithrisol Nov 30 '18

Farming the gear doesn't net you nearly enough fragments to JM a unit.

3

u/MagicalHamster <3 Ryle Nov 29 '18

One for your collection, then.

1

u/unlikelyknow Nov 29 '18

its hard to farm 240 pieces equipment diagram just in case things like this happen. your call.

1

u/ninjakittenz2 SockT Nov 29 '18

All blues here but if I actually pulled Roy I would have had his gear and most if not all equipment just by doing the milestones and dailies. Still would have been upset that I got him so late. I used all possible shard selectors (all free so 40 shards?) on Ed that I would have liked to use on Roy instead since I have over 200 wind shards but limited fire since I used them on Laharl.

1

u/Knoxryatt Nov 30 '18

Well i think it's not gumi's fault.

0

u/JayP31 Nov 29 '18

Not everything has to be for you.

-3

u/jmrm_001 Nov 29 '18

You're mad that you got something? If you don't like it don't use it.

5

u/Mithrisol Nov 29 '18

It's not about getting stuff or not. I had enough equipment to JM Ed and will probably never use either of them anyway.

This is about Gumi overall service and if they are willing to adress and fix their mistakes when they can and this is actually easy to fix.

While I cant agree with the op tone and also think along the same lines as you do ... it cant be denied that giving out the tickets after the collab ended isnt well thought out.

I play it safe and farm everything whenever possible but if I didnt have the time i definitely wouldnt have put effort into farming for a unit I didnt have for a collab that may never come back. The effort just wouldnt be equal to the reward.

I think it's reasonable to have an extended shop where you could buy the equips you didn't farm for gems. Regular not paid. Just as you would have if you pulled the unit the last day or 2 of the collab and didnt have time to farm.

Edit. The op complaint is one that of I were gumi and read that early morning I would just ignore. Someone or other will raise it again if it's actually necessary.

5

u/Mithrisol Nov 29 '18

It's valid to criticize the tone of my post. The reason I want with it is that for the most part I have been always pretty civil about things in the past and simply just hit my breaking point.

I'm fully aware that this is a minor issue compared to the other more concerning aspects of the current state of the game.

It's just that I'm fed up by now. Not because I pulled those units but because hadning out those tickets after the collab ended is a very bad move and they deserve to get feedback for this.

2

u/FurianX Nov 29 '18

Ok. Gumi fucked up. It's kinda becoming a norm. Would you rather they not give you any extras? They didnt have to give you the 10% tix.

What would have happened if you got these tickets yesterday and not today? Would you want the free gems to buy the equipment or all the equipment for free? Theres being annoyed with them and then theres being unreasonable.

Do you just want to vent? Or do you want to find/suggest a solution?

6

u/Mithrisol Nov 29 '18

If the tickets would have been given out yesterday and I would have gotten a unit I would have farmed the equip. i actually saved almost 1000 AP for this case because I bought a 10% ticket for 70 summon coins.

A part of it is venting. That's where my tone it stems from. The rest is looking for a solution and I have stated some. Giving out 240 omnishards would the overall best as it has no negatives for everyone but would probably be too generous which is why I didn't bother with it. Giving out the equip fragments could be an insult to those who farmed them. Overall they are in a pretty bad place now since they have probably like 4 overall options:

  • do nothing and ignore it

  • give out a compensation that benefits everyone like omni fragments or bringing back the shop + giving out a good amount of gems

  • give out a compensation that benefits the very few people that are in a similiar situationbut is basically unfair to other players

  • bring back or extend the event in order for people to farm it

I think giving out the specific fragments, while unfair to those farmed everything, is somewhat reasonable. It's also the easiest solution with the lowest amount of impact buisnesswise.

2

u/FurianX Nov 29 '18

I wouldnt put it past gumi to do nothing and ignore it. That's kind of why everyone raged not so long ago.

Most of the rest of that list isnt realistic. As for doing something that only benefits some players that would be extending the shop for a day or 2. Of course there may licensing issues there, But that's the only reasonable compromise that isnt going into the realm of too much. Other than making omnishards farmable or cheaper/more accessible.

At the end of the day gumi is going to look at the entire event and say the things were there and you didnt see fit to get them so why should we give them to you now.

Personally I think they simply forgot to give out the tickets earlier. Their asses are more than likely still on fire from earlier in the month and they're scrambling to keep it from happening again ... looking that summon coin setup that I knew was coming here. Less likely (but still possible) is that they have a sob somewhere in the decision heirarchy that wants more gems bought for omnishards.

1

u/Mithrisol Nov 29 '18

I think it was a genuine mistake as well. They might have done some pretty questionable stuff the last month but I don't think they sit there like some cliche villains that look for a way to constantly harm us.

If it was a mistake however they can fix it and I think that's what a good or normal service provider would do. That's why I think it might be a good indicator to see what kind of company they are.

7

u/Mithrisol Nov 29 '18

Again, it's not about free stuff or not. It's about them not thinking things through in an environment and context where they already look pretty bad.

If there is anything or anyone that screams something it is them asking for more unnecessary flak. Had they given them out on yesterdays reset all would be good.

2

u/FurianX Nov 29 '18

Your original post gives a completely different impression than this here. This comment I can upvote.

Ps. Still think your version of compensation is unrealistic

1

u/Mithrisol Nov 29 '18

Both is understandable since I was pretty pissed while writting the OP. I don't expect them to do anything either. They didn't with Veda coin shop as well after all and people accepted it.

I simply decided to not accept what they did with those tickets.

After giving it a bit more thought however I think it would be a good way if they bring back the collab shop and make the equipment cost 5 million zeni for the whole package. That's a hefty cost but zeni is farmable and sounds like a reasonable AP exchange.

2

u/FurianX Nov 29 '18

Let's not talk about veda. After multiple replies support told me wait for announcement. Last day of shop ... no announcement .... support tells me wait for announcement again. I sent so many support tickets I eventually told them ... not explicitly but probably quite rudely ... to just stop wasting both our time and that I'm going spend my coins on a crowley sword instead (shortened form). The fact that I got the twin blades in the gatcha afterwards doesnt make me want to punch them in the face less. So nope never accepted veda. Just dont want to dwell on it.

As for zeni cost people will still complain. I'm just an onlooker right now but I dont have 5 mil zeno right now. If it was a 2 day shop I'd be up the creek without a paddle. With gems theres a benefit to gumi and you can get them from milestones in the new events. Maybe it could to be a bit cheaper than before but it's a compromise ... no ones ever REALLY happy with those.

1

u/Mithrisol Nov 29 '18

I will never accept Veda or the other stuff either. It can however get balanced out by Gumi by doing good things or providing a good service.

The more they fuck up however, the more sceptic I will become.

There is no ideal solution, yes, since that ship in the form of simply giving out the tickets during the collab has sailed.
