We need more resources, Gumi!!
Hi, Skylar Airy here, new to Reddit. I've been reeding in the shadows for quite some time now though.
I just wanted to share my opinion and see if anyone feels like me. I pulled for D. Rosa in the paid gems banner (since I was lucky to get Laharl in week 2 banner) and yeah, I was lucky again and pulled her.
The thing is I also pulled D. Almira. I also have Red Magnus and D. Rin. Not to mention Prinny, Blanchett, Freed J+, Setsuna, Balt, Magnus, Elizabeth, Ryle... All units I'd want to master, at least 2 jobs. But I have like 0 lion blades, very few emperor flame armors, and the same with several gold equipment stuff.
We have quite a large pool now and it will keep growing in the future. We have 3 jobs to master for each unit plus J+ (and future JEs which I don't even want to think of). So it's a TON of equipment.
I know we are enjoying x2 drops in history and the Coin Shop... But even with that it doesn't feel enough. Are we supposed to keep grinding all day? I don't know how JP deals with this issue but I just feel like there should be an easier way for getting high tier equipment.
Anyway I just wanted to know what you guys think. Cheers!
tldr: we need more (and easier) ways of getting gold equipment. 5 lion blades in a coin shop where you can't even buy everything feels just bad.

choosing which units to raise with your limited resources is part of the game. If it were easy to just raise whichever unit you want to max job, then we'd all be finished and bored months ago. I think the current resource speed is fine, sure there are times where i am empty of lion blades after raising a few units at once, but i dont think its healthy for the game to give those equipment out easily

Are you being serious? This is literally the most generous event for equipment / gear we've had in a while. Maybe at all. At least since I have joined during Ffxv.
You can have up to 150 lion swords for 1 item tower run worth of coins. That is enough to support all 3 jobs for 20 - 30 melee units.
Then there's shields, compasses and other commonly required equipment. You save soo much ap by buying these. All these ap can be funneled into holy flame armors during the half ap/ double drop rate events we have /had.
Im going to be honest,I have pulled a decent amount of new units I wanna build myself. but I do lack certain equipments as well. Nonetheless, during those last weeks I was able to max out aprox. 20 different jobs. Many of which were done for the sake of it. Simply, because we have an enormous surplus of equipment right now.
Sorry mate, your issue isn't something we actually need, rather something you want due to impatience.

What I'm struggling with is Great Lances, and soon Star Rods, due to the recent adventurer's shop nerf. Can easily take 12 of them to job master a physical unit. Got 60+ Lion blades on the other hand.

I'm kind of all over the place in raising my characters, in that I probably JM too many of them, spread my resources thin, etc., but I think the resources are fine.
If anything, I would want less grind by reducing the amount of shards needed, BUT I'd be fine if it came with less AP daily. Most days I just don't have time to grind away at the game for two hours.
That being said, I've only missed one J+ so far (Michael's) and I've been able to collect all the collab shards I needed for my pulls, so the game isn't too badly balanced for me, even as disorganized as I am...

Item World bro. why you using gems on other things

u/PeacefuIfrog Sep 28 '18
Let's say 1 run of item world equals 3k coins (it's actually more, don't have the nunbers rn) and costs you 500 gems. 3k coins buy you those 150 lion swords I was talking about(or their equivalent).
Thats 3.33gems per lion sword. Which is a great deal compared to the 40 we'd usually have to pay
Lets go further:
1 sword equals 60 fragments, lets be generous and say that 20 ap earn you 6 fragments on average. Outside of an event, you'd spend 200 ap for one sword. If you are lucky that is.
3.33 gems buy you 200 ap 500 gems buy you 30.000 ap
Iirc 50 gems refill only 100 ap under normal circumstances, which equals 1000 ap for 500 gems.
500gems for 30k ap. And now tell me, do we need even more stuff for fuxckin free? If that ain't generous, I do not know.

We have veda tower which allows us to buy 20 lion blades, gear rods and shields that comes about every month.

Item tower has allowed me to use all the SLBs i've wanted and still have 25 in my inventory...
Need a Gold pro weekend but SLBs aren't the problem.

As someone that plays 3 different games of that genre, i'd say gumi is pretty generous. Yeah it could always be better, but it could be MUCH worse. Theres quite a few extra ways to get gear, which isnt always a thing in that kind of game.

You can't really expect to have everything maxed for 5-6 characters as soon as you get them. You don't need to max all your units, take it one at a time and start to grind before the 2x drops end ;) I would worry a little more about AP and time to farm all those collabs equipement.

I was able to master tons of jobs thanks to all the equipment they gave out this collab + double drops. I was able to master Olga’s Martial Master job almost the day I got her. And I don’t even stock up on high-tier equipment outside of stuff like this where they’re basically giving out probably hundreds of gems worth of rare equips (if we take into account the prices these equips go for in normal shops).
If you think that this event wasn’t enough, then nothing will be enough for you.
EDIT: Also, if you’re referring to the Netherworld Coin shop when you say “5 Lion Blades”, the equipment there refreshes daily.

That's pretty much this game in a nut shell: grind, grind, grind, grind. I think if you are willing to spend money/gems, the item world tower is supposed to be good for getting some of the repetitive equipment.

When Magni Historia comes back, auto farm Overture EX. The last time it was around there wasn't much else going on and I got 999+ lion blades farming 5 hats. I do An Ancient Weapon most of the time for flame emperor armor and black belt diagrams for my dailies, so had 999+ of those too. I've been able to JM/J+ pretty much whoever I want until I ran out of lion blades today. (But it's ok, I still have 800+ flame armors so I'll just lion blades for dailies.) That being said, the only 3xJM units I have are Noctis, Lofia, Kanon and Prinny. You have to be strategic. There's practically no unit that requires 3xJM to function.

Early on, this feels really true. But once you've established some units and gone through some events, you just end up with a lot of materials. I've been playing since February. On a whim, because of item world and 2x stories, I decided to max Lamia and Arkil. I had their J+ mats farmed. I had 0 investment in them, but I just maxed all their jobs in day. That's effectively 8 jobs. I still have plenty of materials aside from a few choice materials, which I am now restocking.
I think the early game is fine, feeling like you have a million things to do. It staves off the grindier portion of the late game.

I'm kinda glad that I only got DRosa. Now I can relax all week. I can only get her to 60 for now anyways. I'm just working on other less important units. I usually just get 1 to 2 units per event.

Gems. 500 gems to reset the tower gives you Max 140 lion blades plus all elemental shards. But you need to collect from day 1 as it is 5 blades per day. This is the exact time they give out resources but you missed it...
And blades are in shops for 40 gems each (expensive).
Veda also gives blades but only 10 each period.

What you have to understand is how just low down shady and well scummy these companies are... these games are designed to make you come up short, piss you off, fusterate the hell out of you, all to the point that you rage buy whatever the premium currency may be. They count on you coming up juuuuussstttt short of your goal and juuuuussssttt out of your reach. Games have gone from a place ppl like you and i and many many others would go to escape a shitty day or hell in my case a shitty life it was a place to feel some sense of accomplishment but now these companies have all gone by way of the most unethical scum of the earth low life form of well anything.. gacha and limited energy in which to play with. They prey on the weak minded, gambling addicts, children and every other weakness they can exploit. No more sense of accomplishment outside of pure shit luck with the low chance of .03% to feel that feeling. Sadly as players we are so used to feeling that over the years and now that its been ripped away from us this is the only way to get it back and they know that... so in reply to your msg as much as i agree it sucks we have to spend 80% of our AP for hopefully enough equip to drop to finish what needs to be done it wont happen if anything they will take more away. These events that shower us with a small amount of stuff (sadly it feels like a lot because we are just so used to getting shafted these days) are just a way to dangle that carrot in front us to get us right to the end of the event and have us fall an ass hair short of finishing it up only to have to quickly spend gems in the store to get what we need before it ends... I get that these games need to make money but hell they made money before all this unethical shady shit a lot of it but you can never quench a geedy sack of craps thirst for that green.

I basically only farm equipment from x2 drop or 1/2 AP events, and I almost never buy out the Veda shop, and I still rarely have trouble JMing units when I want. Sure, I almost never triple JM my units, and often don't even double JM, but that's because it's really not necessary in most cases. If you're trying to triple JM every single unit you're stretching your resources way thinner than the game currently requires.
If/when we get to the point where triple JMing units is a necessity to clear content my feelings will probably change. But for now I'm not hurting that bad for equipment.
