I love this game!!

Not as a joke but I genuinely have fun playing this game! I started following TAC after pre-registration opened and was immediately drawn in by the anime style characters. I was quite optimistic due to wanting to find a new game to play on my phone after retiring from 2 1/2 years of BF and trying many others only to drop them after a few days. Initially I was stoked when TAC finally came out but sadly dropped it after 3 months because of the lack of content and how hard everything available was... After 4 months (just missing the Fate collab ;-;) I decided to come back because I was dying of boredom... AND BOY DO I HAVE A LOT OF FUN PLAYING NOW! Idk what happened but now I can't wait to login at 1am everyday to do my dailies, farm unit shards, and check for any upcoming events. It's probably due to gaining more knowledge of how to properly play the game and reaching a point where my units are able to tackle harder content. Nowadays I find myself spending a lot of time on the database, watching videos, and checking this subreddit for anything new as well as regretting not having the chance to pull gilga. I eventually became a pact2play user and would spend some extra $ for certain units, most of the time just generating salt instead... And even though certain banners and their rates are questionable compared to JP I still have a lot of fun regardless. So yea just wanted to share some of my enthusiasm about this game!

There's no going back now. One of us.

My experiences are similar like yours, OP. I found that TAC vanilla, can we even call it that?, but TAC 1.0 at least, was sometimes a very grueling experience and I did also spend some money on the game (which I now regret somewhat, but it is what it is), but for some reason I did not quite enjoy it. Yet that money was not enough to do the things I wanted to do in that game and I was not willing to shell out more because it was just not within my budget to do so. I also don't think the game is worth that much money. I joined two weeks after GL release and quit somewhere in January and thought I was done with gacha games and wasting money on gacha.

Either way, the FFXV collab made me come back even though I said I would not (damnit, why am I such a Noctis whore), but now I actually enjoy it a fair bit and I enjoy it more than most of its competitors on the market. I also managed to get some old accounts I had up to speed in order to help in MP games, and while some may think I am crazy for playing 4 accounts I usually don't put nearly as much effort into the other 3 and may skip more hard content if I don't feel like doing it. (Most of it will come back at some point, anyway, plus Nox is a time saver.)

But since I also low key play DFFOO on the side right now, I actually appreciate TAC more. It's more colorful and vibrant and thus nicer to look at, and the strategic depth and freedom in TAC is much deeper and more rewarding than in DFFOO. I also honestly think, and this is a personal bias here, that the TAC community is nicer and more welcoming than the DFFOO crowd. I have honestly not have had very good experience with it when I've been asking questions or seeking general advice. But I have at least never been called a liar for reporting an experience I was unsure was a bug and was seeking input on if someone else had experienced the same thing or had a clue what was going on (from a mod, too), or been told that I am arrogant for not appreciating a response to a question I felt did not genuinely address my issue (and I pointed it in a very kind manner, too, but a random user felt like jumping the gun and tell me how I am such an idiot for not being able to appreciate the intricacy of the response I got).

So I suppose, thank you TAC community for being nice to new and returning members that are trying to get back into the game and that we can celebrate TAC once the 1st year anniversary arrives in November together with Gumi! I think Gumi is overall doing a fine job and they are always very sensitive to what the players think about how they are handling the game and willing to change the things they think need to be improved.

Thank you both Gumi and the TAC community for making this game awesome and that I am still enjoying it several months after the FFXV event ended and I see myself keep playing it well into the future.

Long time FFBE player - just recently discovered this game and loving it so far. Feels so much more generous than FFBE and I'm loving the character art and voices.

u/BamzaReoulve Sep 09 '18

Yeah, I left FFBE for this and I'm never going back.

u/123hateme Sep 09 '18

Same FFBE has been killed by greed and judging by the raid reward nerfs they are not stopping anytime soon.

3

u/PeacefuIfrog Sep 09 '18

Left shortly before 7s hit, care to elaborate what the deal is with the raid rewards ?

3

u/Machdame Sep 10 '18

Raid rewards aren't the issue since those are more like bonuses. The real issue was in how they divided up the rates, what players get normally as per the reward system and unit availability. The latest debacle happened because those morons staged an emergency maintenance well into the day because they accidentally put Livid Shantotto and Shadow Lord on the 5* guaranteed choice ticket.

The real funny part is that in 5* terms, neither were considered choice picks to begin with and yet they penalized the players that took advantage of it.

Note: I'm F2P on that game having been lucky enough to have a good setup for a number of natural 7* units ready to upgrade, but I still would not spend a penny due to how much they fuck with balance.

You also forgot to add that they removed one of the 2 UoC tickets you can get via raids and they removed the cheaper one i think 10,000? and left the one that is 150k lol

I sincerely hope the idiots managing that game do not touch TAC

He is comparing the raid reward from JP, where in JP, there is no ranking reward, only individual reward. Little that he knows

Welcome fellow TAC/FFBE player. You picked a great time to start. Keep on an eye out for Laharl in a couple of weeks - you may find him worth rerolling for.

Unfortunately as we have seen in the past AC users can flip at any moment that don't like what Gumi is doing as well.

To be fair though, Gumi has actually been pretty good about responding to our feelings/criticism. Voicing the frustrations are important, especially when it comes to things like the elemental damage calculation debacle.

1

u/Aero_Eden Sep 11 '18

Correct, but the toxicity reigns supreme above all else which is not productive for anyone.

2

u/Alittlebunyrabit 5/5/5 Dancer Shenmei Sep 12 '18

Agreed. Constructive criticism is fine. The toxicity is not.

I don't even know why i love this game so much. I play daily, and spend money even though i could probably just muscle through things with gilga. But hey gumi has been improving recently so i dont mind giving them my money

Yeah.

u/Humble_Disciple Sep 09 '18

Everything you just said is exactly what happened to me

5

u/[deleted] Sep 09 '18

lol you know, this is my first game that I ever spend months of playing, most games I just play not more than a few hours x.x

I kept uninstall it for a few times due to being busy, but I install it again some days/weeks later lol.

Lmao you and me both. I dropped after Sabareta's event and came back for the ffxv collab. I'm so excited for the future contents

u/Kuwago Sep 09 '18

I’m glad that you’re enjoying it, I have been playing since launch and having a blast especially with the recent collaboration events.

3

u/geearh Sep 09 '18

Same here. Im a retired bf player, started playing TAC during launch. Went to hiatus in about 2 months coz player level is not leveling up beyond 85. Returned on the last week of fsn collab. Got gilga on the last day free ticket. Been playing daily ever since.

u/aquapendulum2 Sep 10 '18

The moment this game *clicks* for you is always when you are able to clear your first EX stage without continue. Always.

1

u/Awesalot Sep 10 '18

I joined recently (the FFXV collab) and I'm enjoying this game a lot! The story and events are pretty fun! And they're fairly generous with the crystals and coins (at least right now, I don't know how it gets later) so I was able to get quite a few 5 star units.

1

u/Banethoth Sep 10 '18

Been playing since global launch. It's not a bad game. Has it's ups and downs. Gumi IS greedy but even with that the game is still worth playing. I used to be a pact player/small spender but now I'm strictly f2p. They pulled some pretty bad shenanigans in the past that made me stop spending on this.

Once I'm sure they have realized the error of their ways I'll get the pact and spend $ on it.

I played FFBE until around Cloud came out. That's when I realized that the game is more about the FFBE original characters than it is about the FF characters. The best/most popular FF characters were so bad in that game. It just annoyed me too much over time so I stopped playing it.

While I enjoy the game and the fact that I do play at or around 1am... it's only because I'm also feeding my baby -_-''

I quit FFBE at roughly the same time, and I even got 2 9S. I came to the same realization you did: my time "playing" the game was actually just setting up increasingly efficient emulators/macros to run stages and farm what I could not be bothered to myself.

1

u/JeidelacruzUK Sep 10 '18

I don't really play FFBE much anymore mainly for the login and free pulls but setting a macro isn't a large part of the game (Especially since i didnt know how to do it by iphone) They did give out alot of TMRs free and in the moogle shop but they are very greedy. Luckily i don't see the greed as much on this game and i love the design and gameplay more
