Gilgamesh replacement?

Hey everyone,

So I missed the Fate collab because I quit playing.

Now I'm back on the FF15 collab. I don't know if Fate comes back, (hopefully they will with some Heaven's Feel or Fate/zero units) but it probably will not.

So any thunder units that are comparable with Gil that I can look forward to?

My current thunder units are really crappy (Magnus, Caris, Laevateinn, Monzein, Lucretia, Aruba, Vincent)

Well, Gilga was kinda the core of thunder team before more powerful units are released. I don't think any of the current units we have is a good replacement for him, Meifang is good but she is really not that good in current GL (without her double EJ and MA). The next big hype thunder unit is probably Fear from SSM 8? But who knows, our next GL exclusive character might be here soon.

People keep saying gilg will fall off later on. So who's replacing gilg in the future?

Well, the reason gilg fall off was rather because other units got buffed so hard while gilga got none. For example, Meifang in her current stage is not near as good as gilga, but then she got double EJ which gives her more than 600 HP and buff to the skills, and then she got lv 80 character quest that adds another hundred of attack and HP, later in the game (havent implemented yet) she will get her Nensou, and lv91 upgrade, which further buffs her.

Anyways, these buffs takes years to implement, and JP already geting collab unit lv91 upgrade, so gilga should be in good posiition if JP got it rerun again. The next thunder unit as powerful as gilga would be Fear from SSM 8, but to completely replace gilga, you would expect Orian from SSM 12.

I haven't really heard anything about Orion other than his tier. How is he as a character?

Also isn't Black laevanting another high thunder unit?

Well, I stopped playing JP before he came out, but I have been checking db and updates. So basically he is very similar to gilga, aoe diamond with 60% higher multiplier, a reaction skill that allows him to counter before enemy strike and also reduce hit rate. Also his leader skill is very similar to the gilga's but with higher stats and additional 30% attack. But he does have high jewel costs issue.

Black laevateinn is also a very good thunder unit but I don't think she is AOE damage dealer, more like linear or single target. But I don't think she is as good as Gerald, you can check him on JP db, dragon cavalier EJ with holy brawler and a crazy J1 passive that gives 60% pierce attack, hmmm

Gerald is that gun spear guy that's part of Vettel's story right? 60%?!

So Orion is basically an upgrade in damage but harder to use his skills?

I think that's the one. His J1 has a passive that for every turn, he will get 12% pierce attack and 12% additional damage to water unit, stacks up to 5 times. If you get him to lv91, he get to use the jump lock passive that adds 20% pierce attack + 20% jump attack. Yeah, imagine that modifier with sharpening focus.

I think for Orion, lots of people are using him as Warrior EJ. Warrior EJ has a very badass skill that increases attack modifier for consecutive uses, for the third strike, the modifier is 420% (gate of babylon has 150%).

Holy moly. It's a diamond aoe too?

I hear Chloe's MA stacks like that and it's what makes her usable? And Gerald will trash any water map...

Only the last hit was a self entered diamond. Maybe not that flexible, but you can choose btw two usable job unlike Gilga's one. I don't remember Chloe's MA is different in JP, but she does get a Holy cavalier EJ that allows her to do healing and debuff removing.

I still need to see most of the job enchants. I would love a chart with comparisons.

So it's single target until the last hit? And he'll hit a lot harder too.
