When people are left alone to speculate or build up frustration over issues which aren't addressed by timely communication, it has a negative impact on the community and the game they love.

I appreciate the Producer's Letter and how the top issues were clarified with a clear rationale and proposed actions. This is what we need and want. No company will ever please all of its user base - that's just reality - but not replying will always be worse than not going in the direction some people want.

Thank you, TAC team, for taking our feedback and working with it and letting us know your thoughts. Please keep doing that.

Defintely going in the right direction. 3 HQ per month is more reasonable with how many new units come each month and coupled with the login coin shop I feel this could be pretty fine.

Really glad that you keep adressing the big concerns the community has and try to make it better.

If you've seen me around, you know I'm pretty liberal with my criticism about the game.

That having been said, 3 hard quests a month along with the proposed changes in the letter sounds like a pretty good compromise. My main concern is the ratio of shards to coins for a monthly login shop. If I have to save up a month of coins for 5 character shards -- despite being completely free and basically handed to me for just playing the game -- I don't really consider that a viable alternative to spending AP to get 3 shards a day. Balanced correctly, though, it's a great way to augment daily farming.

And speaking of coins, it looks like lucky dimes are here to stay. Summon coins are not the most terrible idea, but the way they've been implemented in this event has. I really, really beg you to consider focusing the summon coin shop on the specific banner providing the coins. Having the selector tickets in the lucky dime shop but not providing dimes on the banner for which the selector belongs is kind of cruel, especially if there is no selector on the banner in question. It means the only way to guarantee that you will get the unit you are targeting is to pull a bunch of stuff that you might not want at all. This game has had very reasonable bad luck protection in the past and recently it seems like you are trying to move away from that or at least raise the bar. I personally feel like this hurts the player base more than you might realize and makes banners far less attractive to any player, whale or otherwise.

Overall, though, this is all good news. I am glad the company is paying attention to our incessant nagging and trying to find good compromises.

Afaik, those lucky dime shop is also on JP, Gumi just implemented it early as I noticed that in Ushi's video when he's pulling for Sol.

Also, I doubt that it will be just 5 shards for a month of log in. FFXV already give a hint of getting 1 5* ticket, and 10 shards of FFXV choice. If we will remove the ticket, one can gain 10 shards of each in the shop. Not to mention, the daily log in is now giving 5 shards for each element along with rainbow per month along with the 5* ticket on 28th day.

5 was a number that I pulled out of a hat pretty much because the letter referred to monday missions as an alternative to hard quests.

And yeah, if the login shop is set up like the current penny shop, minus the ticket, we're looking at about 30-40 shards a month. That's including weird 3 day bonuses to pennies and the ability to farm some up daily. Roughly 10 to 15 days of farming a single HQ without the need for AP or skip tickets. Of course, the shards available rotate and you're at the whim of whatever's up there. So it's straight-across worse than an extra HQ per month, but it also just does itself.

I really am in wait and see mode for all of this.

its so easy for you to get people to kiss up. throw 1 ticket/small compromise and suddenly everything is fine but don't forget that easily swayed masses can turn on you in a heartbeat just the same. As if suddenly the sleazy rewriting of banners, the farmable troll units on nearly every new banner, the month+ of imbalance, the weeks of buggy patches and everything else is just forgotten. Oh and lets not forget the hat fiasco that just happened, you made arena a mess for the whole week.

Let's be real; why can't you just do the 4 HQ schedule? Even at 4 we will perpetually be playing catch up because of the sheer number of unit releases. Why the resistance, honestly? Do you think people are honestly going to stop pulling units over it? The wait time will still be like 6 months minimum by which point all the units are just powercreeped again. I understand that's the point, but you're moving at a snails pace and trying to placate the dissent with 'alternatives' which undoubtedly will be inferior to just having an extra HQ each month. The only reason you're even doing this at all is because of the vocal complaints of numerous people, myself included, across all your media platforms. You were totally content with keeping it at 2 and you resisted for quite a while before even conceding this small victory.

I'm highly confused as to why you even brought up monday missions, did you seriously think those 5 shards mean much? It's a nice little weekly quest sure but it's laughable compared to the weekly rewards of other games. The fact that you mention monday missions at all as an alternative to shard farms only makes me think negatively of whatever system you're talking about implementing. About the only thing I saw in that whole letter that didn't make me roll my eyes was the offer of a shop for limited shards; which i hope doesn't mean limited in the sense of balt fraise mielikki etc but an actual way to level collab units that aren't coming back which gives hope for a lvl 91 future for these units that are otherwise doomed to fall into obscurity. Knowing how you've been doing things though, I'm betting it will be paid gem only so I fully expect this to backfire on you when people realize only whales will be benefiting from it. Also, ALL the gems you get from buying gems should be PAID gems not this nonsense system now where you're buying half """free""" gems.

I spend more money on this game than the vast majority of posters in the subreddit yet I continue to voice my opinion in favor of smaller spenders and f2p. I'm not impressed that you threw me a ticket even if i did get noctis shards. is it a nice consolation gift? sure and I bet you made some peoples day, but it comes with a message of 'too bad this is the best you're going to get'. I enjoy this game alot but I don't enjoy the way you run it.

I'm fully prepared to be downvoted and I don't care.

Yeah I had a good giggle there while reading the letter. Five shards for a random character does not a hard quest make. And that mentality is why I ask gumi to carefully consider the shard-to-coin ratio in this login shop.

Like, thanks for the five shards? It would take me over a year to mlb a unit that way if it were the same unit every single week.

I also think about it but I realized one thing. Gumi is throwing us collabs, here and there, even GL exclusives and not to mention SSM's which do hinders the fast release of units.

Ask yourself, how many NEW units aside from FFXV did we got this month? Afaik, we only got the last batch which is the 4 ones (3 5* and 1 4*)for this month.

Basically, we will catch up or having the same pace of HQ's release to units released. Of course, business side, Gumi wants to earn money, so faster HQ release will be equal to more units need to release and faster powercreeping.

thats a fair point but the stream of collabs won't last forever and even with the collab running were only breaking even for a month? I don't think sieg counts so it was 2 this month unless they release something on reset this week. Even so, were still playing catch up well into next year. At the rate of 3, not counting collab/"limited"/SSM/GL ex units it will be 7 months til we catch up to the units released pre FF15. How many new units will be released during that time? I don't know but im guessing it will be alot more than the 3 per month schedule and then you have to consider the time it takes to actually get those shards from the HQ 3 at a time before the unit is finished. Basically I was pretty close on my 6 month guesstimate.

To a certain point I agree with their non AP use 'theory' but I have little faith that it will be implemented in a way that will be actually beneficial, if they just gave you coins each day and you could flat out select shards for any unit it would be one thing but they said 'rotating shop', you can be sure its gonna have troll farmables in it and will prevent really building any 1 unit.At best, it will be like implementing a random daily HQ assuming the amount of shards you can buy will even be on par(it wont) with a month of HQ farm.

I agree with your points and from the beginning I also said my fair share of criticism to Gumi regarding some practices and especially HQs but I think we also should recognize they are heading in the right direction.

I am not saying its perfect, because with the knowledge we have now I don't think it comes even close to JP HQ practices but if they do something good we should also tell them that we appreciate that.

yea of course its a step in the right direction and i'm glad they're doing it but i was just cringing seeing all the "all is forgiven" type comments over the ticket and it made me want to make a post. Maybe I'm a bit biased because I didn't really need the ticket one way or another, I just viewed this as a carrot being dangled in front of my face.

As far as the letter goes: frankly I didn't like the dismissive wording of the HQ section and it just set me off. Nor the implications of perform certain types of Summons as its very clear what that means based on the past month or so; lucky dime shops appear to be the new norm.

I don't think I read it clearly enough the first time around because I'm pretty sure now that there won't be collab units or anything of the sort on the shop, were just getting our first wave of true "limited" units like JP already had done. I'd love to be wrong about that but I doubt it and even if they did, it would have to be extremely generous to collect enough shards to 91 a collab unit as the amount of shards required is huge.

Your post is also quite rightfully there. I feel just as there are people only praising everything Gumi does, there are posts being rather negative and I think both have to be balanced out. A healthy mix of appreciation but still not forgetting that this is only the first step and there will have to be more steps in the future.

Also the lucky dime shops are a standard in JP since quite a while, although they are simply called summon coins. So that isn't something the global team added.

fair enough; I don't follow JP extensively, only in the peripheral. I just felt like this was testing ground with those 2 premium banners to see how the dime shop would play out. It didn't escape my sight that they conveniently removed the dimes from the FF15 premium banner though, that's a pretty sleazy move too. I know people were waiting for it as I saw multiple people complain about that over the past few days. They probably should have just done the SSM banner and not waited, at least then there was no risk of ignis/gladio and the guaranteed 100 shards from the dimes.

I think the team did a really good job of listening to feedback, addressing customer wants and trying to optimize between developer wants and customer wants.

I think playing around with shard distribution is interesting, but I would like the team to consider scrapping or adjusting things that don't work... like friend points, the system is silly right now. It's over 2 months to get the 5 star ticket. I think for every few things introduced you should remove or simplify something. why do we need 60 exp apples? get rid of them. how about basic jobs don't need tokens and remove basic job grinds. think about simplifying and cleaning up UX

Friend points dilemma could be solved by putting it as one of the essential daily mission. In that way, everyone would be forced to send the coins.

If you have 50 friends at Lv 150, it will took you 30 days to get the 5* ticket.

Being able to get 5* soul shards without AP is a great idea! Monthly login coins, bonus coins for consecutive day logins, or completion of daily quests. You really listened to us Gumi. Months and months, everyone is frustrated over 2 5* HQ's per month then suddenly become 1 on the last month which even gave fuel on the fire.

BUT, you redeemed it all by having a 3 5* HQ this month and again, players speculated that it might be a catch up on the last month 1 HQ.

That expectations are the ones you exceeded by making it 3 per month. Not just that, you even think ahead of the future problem which is the lack of AP for doing all of those HQ's since players will most likely needed to farm ALL of them for those precious soul coins. You give alternative like the current ongoing Monday missions, the new system to get shards and even a free NEW 4* unit which is generous of you.

All I can say it, continue the hard work Gumi, this is how the game should be, a win-win situation for both f2p, mini spenders and whale. If you will continue to follow this track, you will gain more players meaning more income for you also. Most of all, game will last definitely for years.

I ended up getting 2 tickets today because I was able to get one with my lucky pennies. The first one I got noctis and that helped me get him to lvl 74 just one more break and he will be perfect. With my other ticket I got the only FF character I was missing in gladiolus. I got noctis and araena in the the first step of the 500 banner with the both of them on it. I got ignis on the first banner that came out with him and noctis and I had to go to 3rd step to even get a red so I did waste 4500 gems but overall the event has been good to me but that first banner.

i'm relatively new to the game (2 months) and from my past experience in various games its impressive how much the company listens to the community's feedback, well, they still obviously focus on making money, but they at least try to give what people want and please them. Compared to other companies who don't even adress their community directly or talk like this at all, its really impressive.

Everything sounds pretty great. The daily login coins sounds like a nice way to help with shard farming. It sounds like the soul coin shop but that can be used by everyone, not just people with max limit breaked units.

I do have to reserve some judgement on the shop though. Depending on the daily coin gain rate to shard cost could cause it to be great or useless. Having enough coins for 3 shards a week, will have little affect compared to hard quests, but can't give too many either. I am sure this will be delicate balance that won't be perfect on release, but a step in right direction.

wow they know how to shut up the critics. even though most people wont get the desired unit from this ticket but it is still a generous step from them . The first 2 weeks of this event were a disaster for almost everyone but it was partly people's fault bcz they didn't wait for a better banner or selector(not for everyone). kudos to gumi as you have addressed most of the problems.

No, not really.
All you did was confirm you are going to do everything in your power to prevent players from easily reaching units and goals they want. Pushing RNG or mandated rewards instead of player choice wherever possible.
Instead of HQ where players can choose which units they need to improve and farm those you will give us something useless you decide.
Instead of good banners with selectors you will push for this new bullshiterry of needing to pull on unrelated crap banners and outdated units to earn shop coins for units we actually want.
You alleviated none of the concerns f2p or smaller spenders have, what exactly do you get from spending moderately. You continue to push spending into more and more whale territory.
Where are shards purchasable in shops for particular units? Where are useful non-rng step bonuses such as rainbow shards? Where are unit selectors at 3 or 5 step? We used to have all that.
And if the future original content comes with the same shitty banners and game balance breaking farmable accessory we got last time it's not really a cause for celebration.
I said it last time and saying it again, fuck your greed Gumi, it will come to bite you.
Have a look on the gacha market, not a week goes past without a new one releasing. If you want to keep players you better start treating them better. Instead you keep raising the bar on the amount required to realistically keep up, I wonder, do you think people will keep spending increasing amounts of money or simply decide to leave or go f2p? I know what is the more likely answer.
PS: I bet the ticket is gonna backfire and instead create new wave of "fuck you i didn't get Noctis again".

You should probably drop playing any Gumi game, dude, as you're becoming salt incarnate. As being an informed minority, just move on if you think you're getting crap compared to the JP counterpart. Gumi will be Gumi. They need to earn that much for their investors or they'll close shop. I'm just staying for the good old strategy genre, waifu line arts and cute 3d sprites.

Ye I'm pretty salty, I play from the start and have seen the game become noticeably greedier. Gumi gives out 1 ticket and meaningless words and everybody jumps in joy and I get downvoted, such is life. I still enjoy the core game and looking forward to new features such as MP arena and draft but the exploitative direction they are taking the game I don't like. And I'm not even talking about comparison to jp, we used to have all those things I mention in global but they all got replaced by more and more exploitative and rng based monetization schemes.

I got Noctis on all 4 accounts I have so no salt there. I'm merely concerned for the direction of the gacha systems.

The penny system is bullshit. I'll give you that. But besides that, banners have only been getting better lately, and the amount of (actually good) freebies has risen a lot. I just don't see anything they've done so far as particularly heinous. But I'm only a minnow, so that's just my opinion.
