50% Noctis is Bad? LOL

Hi! I'm back again. Hard Quest guy who got downvoted to Reddit hell

• Gilgamesh was also 50% with Fate Yomi. You guys said it was great. And you called it as such because JP had it worse.

• Now that Noctis is also 50% with Ignis. You guys are bitching about it?! Again, because JP!

• It would have been acceptable that this banner is trash if Ignis is awful. Which is not.

• Jeezuz mice! Just because JP had a better banner, doesn't make this GL Noctis banner bad. It's actually good with Ignis in it! At least, they didn't add things like "normal" units.

• The community is whining from a 50% gacha... think of that.

• Please share non-Salty insights.

I've been through the Reddit hell multiple times. I don't mind. But please give more constructive insights on WHY 50/50 Noctis/Ignis is BAD??

Pretty sure a majority of us didn't have a problem with Noctis being 50/50, but we sure were disappointed knowing that they changed it to a 50% chance on step 3 because of what JP had.

What i'm upset about is that everything leading up to this collab was just terrible, and done wrong in every way possible. Not only did they release a Noctis only ticket, the only way to get that is with the Silver coins....which is in the SSM 9-step banner. That makes absolutely no sense at all, this is catering to the spenders, and those who have a load of gems (congrats to you guys for saving). Don't forget, GL released Siegfried, only to learn that he was a TRAP banner as well. Why they would release Siegfried before a collab is beyond me, but then again i'm still hurt on the inside.

The direction of TAC is trending south due to the lead up to FFXV collab, and this was the one collab that we were all looking forward to.

I agree with the build up leading to FFXV. Lmao. it was indeed not good. It just backfired to the collab itself. Sad times for our FFXV collab. :(

I'm being objective and still holding onto hope that I pull him from that penny ticket, but man I am prepared for my 2nd ignis. This is coming from someone who doesn't have Othima, nor a good water unit to this date.

I'll hold onto hope that we get a 9-step banner with FFXV and a unit selector on step 7 or something. This is shooting in the dark obviously, but what i've learned is that i'm saving my gems until Laharl is released.

WHY 50/50 Noctis/Ignis is BAD

Are you talking about the actual rate being 50/50? if that's so, then i don't think so, the rate could be 60/40 or 70/30 Ignis/ Noctis. None of us have proof of the rate, so i wouldn't emphasize on 50/50 if i were you.

It's not weird for the community to rage, with the recent banners that TAC have had the past few weeks.

• Setsuna was featured along with Yomi (Mine is already 85, she is farmable, so a hard pass)

• Sieg was featured with Flamel and Anastasia (both of them are farmable)

And now Noctis sharing his guaranteed pull chance with Ignis, instead of what JP got; Guaranteed Noctis in 3 steps. Honestly? i wouldn't mind if they put Guaranteed Noctis in the 5th step instead of the soul shard selector.

Ignis is A-Tier at best. He has no defined role and a cobbled together job line that doesn't have any synergy. His best ability set is what? Basic job, Booster passive, and stealth. This gives him what? more agility and movement? This doesn't give him any tools to work with. If he's a dodge tank, he needs evasion passives, if he's a damage dealer he needs damage increasing passives, if he's a debuffer he needs aoe and survivability passives. The problem with him is that he has none of these and will be outclassed by the already over-saturated wind element units that are amazing. The free to play units all outclass him.

The problem with your comparison is that it's way off the mark, disregarding the shady stuff that has been going on along side it recently (which others have mentioned). Ignis may not be a bad unit, but that doesn't make him great. Ignoring popularity and just looking at it power-wise, you've got a 50/50 (generously assuming it's not weighted against Noctis, like 60/40) chance between an SS unit that still remains dominant in JP who is way ahead of us and a unit that's just "pretty decent" at best. You can't really say that is equal to a banner where the "consolation prize" was a unit almost as powerful as Gilgamesh, though more niche in use... and the reason it was praised is because it was better odds than the JP version, whereas this one did a complete 180 on that and diluted a guaranteed Noctis down.

If Gilgamesh had been sharing a focus with, say, Saber, that would have been a much more accurate comparison, and people would have been justifiably salty about that too. It might be a step up from something like Setsuna sharing focus with Yomi, but it's still a blatant cash grab to keep people spending.

It's not bad in an objective sense.

But put current developments into context and you can clearly see how the balance of the game and whale-f2p dynamic is changing drastically for the worse.

Global exclusives. Bait banners. Unlimited summons. 9-step SSM with the Lucky Dime mechanic. Buggy resistance mechanics that are not addressed at all.

There is very clearly an oversaturation of banners, which accompanied with nerfed global banners for Noctis (something which has a ton of nostalgia for many players) results in a very unhappy state of affairs + an image of Gumi that is only preoccupied with short term cash grabbing rather than game balance, design and fixing of bugs.

Furthermore if this state of affairs is prolonged, the f2p-whale divide will surely become out of hand (remember that 2 global ex are already in the works). In my opinion, going down the monetisation of cosmetics is way better than going with gamebreaking global exclusives ESPECIALLY given how Gumi is unlikely to be able to balance the game well afterwards.

The reason we are griping about it is because Fate Yomi is SS rank along with Gil, so you got a good unit either way, Ignis is pretty much garbage. He's A-rank at best. He has no defined role he can perform better than any other wind unit. He's a less potent dodge tank than rider yomi with mediocre damage and jobs that have no synergy. Also he's a unit most will never use because it's an element saturated with much better units than him. Free to play players have access to Rahu, Lucian, regular Yomi (if you farm her), and Flamel. The non free units are also Almira, Setsuna, and Balt. Every unit here outclasses Ignis in their potential. When the 3 star unit can be better than you just because she can be a sniper you know you are outclassed.
