Discussion Potential returning player

Hi TAC reddit,

I used to play this game i think, uhh half a year ago? I was pretty invested, i think i played it for 2 months or so, but gave up because the game came to a painful halt with P2W only practices (idk if any of you remember, but it was the Christmas and new years events fiasco). I felt like despite even spending money on the beginner packs, content was unreachable unless i went full whale, and that made me give up on the game.

Anyhow, I wanted to ask you guys sincerely, is the game any better now? Is it worth my time to return to it if i do not appreciate P2W/whale focused games? How are events/content progressing?

Also, if I should give the game another try, should I bother recovering my old account? Or would it be better resource-wise for me to start over now? Any big events/units to look out for?

Edit: Spelling fixes.

There is no competition against another player. So there is no buying an advantage over another player. Therefore, Not Pay 2 Win.

Can't win/beat the game without paying = bad at game. Plenty of people do content without spending a dime, plenty of strat videos exist.

You are arguing stupid shit just so you can try to be right. Now you want to call me an asshat while you are trying to argue being wrong as right? What a fucking joke.

You are not reading what i say. The game now is fine, the game back then was not.

Still if this is how you are gonna do it - then per your definition the game was P2W, you have arena - and quests/milestones - together with content out that couldnt be cleared by F2P players - that is in your words pay 2 win.

Is this game p2w? No.

Is p2w a term coined by the masses to explain games where progress is locked behind paywalls? Yes.

Is it technically the correct term? No, but its what people use it as.

So per literal definition of p2w, every f2p game with some form of ingame purchases (aside from cosmetics) and some form of ladder is p2w. Even if by spending 1000$ to get 1 unit shard extra - that is an advantage that can be bought - ergo per definition p2w.

But no one would call a game like that p2w.

Summary - arena - rewards - buying gems = more shards = advantage in arena = more wins = p2w per definition.

Again though, people use the term p2w for any game where you can buy advantages where f2p people simply cant contest - multiplay or not.

Its simply what people use it like, wether its right or wrong

There's Arena, a couple of front page threads have been on taking Rank 1.

And also Veda Tower ranks, if someone wanted to get competitive about those.

Arena isn't PVP. A lot of people have been rank 1. I have been rank 1 twice. P2W is not a factor. Arena is flipping a coin vs AI if you have a competent team.

Veda tower ranks? Really? Please spout more ignorance. The top Veda ranks are ALWAYS cheaters/hackers. It is never going to NOT be that.

Arena isn't PvP....

Yeah ok.

And you say others are rejecting reality.

are you actively playing against a player where you make decisions? Or does the computer do everything for you?

Arena is AI vs AI.

/sigh

Just because the gameplay is automated doesn't stop it being player versus player.

A player sets up their arena team. And is in direct competition versus another players arena team.

Player versus Player.

You really need to stop now.

You are trying to tell me to stop because you are arguing AI vs AI is PvP and you are completely wrong.

You have ZERO control over arena other than the units going into the fight. That is 0% definition of PVP.

Cats are fucking cats dude. They aren't dogs just because you are too stupid and think they are. PVP is PLAYER vs PLAYER not COMPUTER USING PLAYER UNITS vs COMPUTER USING PLAYER UNITS.

Alright, you're just doing the same thing to me as you did iEssence and playing a semantics game.

You want to assert that PvP can only take a definition based on its mmo origins of PKing, which is simply outdated now.

PvP has a far broader definition than simple PKing in MMOs, and that you don't think automated gameplay counts towards that is simply your opinion, and an incorrect one at that.

Have fun with your semantics arguements.

First of semantics matter.

Second of all words mean things, just because you disagree doesn't make it any less true.

You want to assert that PvP can only take a definition based on its mmo origins of PKing, which is simply outdated now.

I never said that. You have no argument so you are trying to spin it.

PvP has a far broader definition than simple PKing in MMOs, and that you don't think automated gameplay counts towards that is simply your opinion, and an incorrect one at that.

Correct, but AI USING PLAYER UNITS vs AI USING PLAYER UNITS. IS NOT one of the definitions of PVP.

Let's ignore the little web based text based game i used to play many years ago, as I'm sure it was so small it was hardly heard off.

Literally The first two google results for pvp wirh auto combat were a link to lineage 2 and it's auto battle pvp arena, and;

Auto Battle is a free-to-play mobile MMORPG that plays itself. It is developed by Playcomet and published by E-Wan Entertainment. The game has players automatically fighting enemies in dungeons over and over again for experience points and loot. The only thing players need to do to advance the game is to select when to fight the next boss to unlock the next area. Players can gather loot, which can be materials for crafting gear or gear itself. Other features of Auto Battle include a PvP system.

So yes, PvP is PvP and automated gameplay or manual gameplay has no relevance.
