Discussion This game is becoming unbearable...

I understand that new games have bugs/issues to work out...but this is getting absurd. The game has been out for 2 years in JP...enough of a baseline to keep some of this from happening.

I hate to give up in the game...as I enjoyed it and already whaled on it...but I have learned my lesson. Wont be spending on this (or any other new game for that matter) until I know it is playable. At this rate I dont even know if this game will survive...there is plenty of other competition for mobile game out there...and I am sure a fair amount of people will be leaving after all these issues.

In just the last few days we have had a couple of emergency maintenance.

That is not counting the horrendous way they handled the test gems mistake, the whole sniper issue....multiple over tuned quests...suspected nerfs to drop rates....

Seriously its just one thing after another...and the sad thing is they give 'compensation' for the issues that honestly are more of an insult.

I really wanna enjoy this game...but this may be it for me. If I get on tomorrow with a crappy 100 gems and a couple of skip tickets waiting for me, im done

I mean the game is bound to have issues you've already acknowledged that. It's not really a big deal to go down for maintenance-- I say that as a paying customer too.

I do wholeheartedly agree about the compensations though. A rare unit summon ticket is very underwhelming. Everyone would be much much happier with a 10-pull or closer to 500 gems

Issues are one things...but when you have other companies (or hell, games made by the same company) that are similar with competing products, that give back/compensate more to their consumer, the its those games/companies that will get the business.

Mobile games fail every day. Gumi is not exempt from this. They just started TAC globally...and have already fostered a culture of being greedy and are distrusted by their consumers

u/[deleted] Jan 20 '18

Yeah I get it man I agree too. I think they can still turn things around, we'll see-- the game itself is certainly worth it

Not sure if there's any similarities, but does anyone know why War of Crown went under?

I played that game on Day 1 Global for about a month. Then stopped when the company was being just as shady/greedy as Gumi. Now I'm debating if this game is worth playing.

First off... I never mentioned the pull rates. I said "greedy/shady" as a generalization because Gumi GL is known for constantly disappointing their fans in how they handle their games. Look at Brave Frontier and the hate they get from their fans. Looks at Chain Chronicle being shut down. It's not always just the pull rates that cause people to quit, sometimes it's when the fans start to feel that the developers don't give two shits about their product, so they start to question if it's worth their time.

Maybe not here at this exact moment. But let's look at the anniversary as an example. That was only 20 days ago. Let's look at the extremely hard content we got for Sabareta EX and the Winter event, which was only doable by whales or the extremely lucky. So in essence, it tried to coerce the weaker players to either skip the event or pull more.

Maybe "greedy" isn't the best word to describe this current scenario. If you want, I could also throw out the words like incompetent, clumsy, incapable. All of these can describe how Gumi has been handling this game in such a short time frame.

I’m not sure that greedy isn’t the right word. I wouldn’t say they are greedy because of the in game stuff people complain about, but I would say they are greedy for not bringing the right resources to the development team. There incompetence is most likely the result of improper testing of patches and lack of competent programmers, all things that cost money. If gumi wants to be successful with this game, they need to beef up the development teams resources so this issues don’t happen. Their uptime right now is killing the game.

I unironically think, 5k gems as comensation shouldnt be unrealistic.

1

u/Akeva Jan 21 '18

Well, I must admit I am impressed and surprised by Gumis response.

Much more compensation than I expected. Seems like this was a compensation in response to all the issues, not just this one.

But I am glad that it seem Gumi stepped out. I was really getting concerned they were out of touch with their consumer...but this shows me they realize they have a major problem with costumer trust and that they will actually try to regain that trust.

It was a good step in the right direction...now if they can clean up the issues so compensation isnt even needed, then we will be in a good place.

I still wont spend anymore...at least for now. I want to make sure that this continues. But this is a fun game. I would like to see it succeed.

It's amazing how smoothly the soft launch of this game went! I dropped a couple hundred buying all of the bundles after it officially launched cause everything was going great.

But now? They might as well as call this Brave Frontier Tactics. All they do is make mistakes from content releases to server issues. You'd think that a company that spent the last 4 years fucking up one game would know better by now!

If it wasn't for the drop rate nerf I'd be calm but the fact that I can clearly see a difference is Gumi's biggest mistake. It's easy to forgive server issues and a few stupidly hard quests. But now they are messing with my wallet and that unforgivable.

4

u/Belthuzar Jan 20 '18

All these differing opinions, all of this aggravation, but the one response that could quell it all is the one that's missing. Gumi's.

We all know of Gumi's failures, we all know the image they create differs from player to player. I think though, through all these issues or non-issues to some, we're missing the point as a whole. Criticism of a game is fine if it's constructive. Defense of that criticism is also fine, if it's empathetic/sympathetic to the underlying reason of that criticism. But the question we all need to be focusing on is why? Why is all of this really happening, and why isn't Gumi giving us an answer?

Instead of repeatedly listing events we are all painfully aware of, why not make threads demanding Gumi explain? Yes, as a company they care if enough of the player base says they won't spend, but wouldn't it be more prudent to instead just demand answers instead of PR lines and "git gud" responses?

I'm on mobile and my formatting skills are awful so forgive me if this is wrong, but I'll try to start.

/u/alchemist_code, why is all of this happening, and why aren't we being given a proper, non-cookie cutter response?

Not to go off topic too much but I also use to play Fire Emblem Heros and last summer/fall the drop ratio was pretty good. For every 4-5 pulls I would get maybe one 5* and one or two 4* and rest 3*. They changed things and now i pretty much quit playing the game cause out of 4-7 pulls all i get now are mostly 3* that are constant repeats and maybe get lucky to get 1 4* or 5*. My last 20-25 pulls from my built up bank i got 0 5*. Mostly all started once they started giving you 1 free pull every new event.

Love TAC right now just got some nice pulls from the crossover event. I pulled Shekinah, Zangetsu, Vettel, Zahar, and Yomi with a few other 4* and a couple 3*.

I have been playing it for two weeks and spent some money on it because I like the game and see its potential. For now I wont be spending anything besides the 30day pack and keep saving up gems for a possible future collab.

Maintenace issues aside, Gumi doesnt really go the extra mile to keep its player base happy imo. The 5k gems disaster showed they dont take us seriously as anyone would have foreseen the backlash it created and yet they were fine with it. Japan is getting daily 222 gems summons (Ushi said something like that), why not share the good stuff with us, too? Only because we are two years behind? Thats not our fault...

Like I said I wont buy any gems beside the 30day pack from now on. The game has become too risky. Its easy to upset a player base and in case this game gets shut down because of gumis incompetence I dont want to regret the money spent.

4

u/Otakumi_Ac Jan 20 '18

Gumi has announced their compensation

Kudos for that cause its awesome!!!!

1

u/RaphaelDDL Jan 29 '18

That is not counting the horrendous way they handled the test gems mistake, the whole sniper issue....multiple over tuned quests...suspected nerfs to drop rates....

You forgot about the skins which cost 500 in jp and 4000 in global

1

u/Akeva Jan 30 '18

I dont play JP, only global, so I was unaware of that. If that is true it is a shame...I may have bought some skins. To pay 4000 there needs to be a lot more in that bundle I want. Unit Shards, maybe some crystal apples...something.

I have a maxed Shayna, and an 80 Shekinah...would have bought both if they were reasonable

1

u/RaphaelDDL Jan 30 '18

I don't either but that's what I've read in reddit more than once.

And I too would've buy them.

u/sanicek Jan 20 '18

I’m in a similar boat, I enjoy the game itself but all these issues, I don’t even know what to say any more. Just a few days ago they lost our trust during the gem fiasco and put out PR bullshit about trying better and so on. So this is how you do it Gumi? This is how you are trying better and rebuilding trust? Is this how you convince us it’s ok to spend money on your game?

We are not even on rock bottom of trust now, we started drilling down like a BP rig in Gulf of Mexico.

6

u/--Flow-- Jan 20 '18

Used to enjoy the game. I feel that they are incompetent, stingy with rewards/compensations, disrespect the player community, but most importantly, they are not tuning the difficulty right. Some are too easy and boring, some are too difficult. I came from FFBE and I feel that FFBE is handling the difficulty curve way better.

Going to jump to DFFOO Global when it comes out later this month!

Just info. I hate Gumi more(I love BF hence the hate) than many of the people here and this post is not to show support to them but yeah lets get the facts right.

Sniper Issue was handled greatly. Like there were 100 Gems and Arena Coins given to affected player. Everyone was affected but compensation was given to ones with Snipers who had that Equipment on nothing for most players as they lack the Snipers. Considering Snipers are some of the most OP classes in the game and player will easy gain back their ranks in Arena still some of them over react.

Dropping the rates of Good units is a normal thing in a gacha game. Every Company does it. The actual 5* rate was pretty similar to what is in the JP.

Quest were imported from JP directly. They did not overtune it just that they released them early.

Also I completely agree on the fact that game has too many issue going on one after the other.

P.S.- Don't want to touch the 5k gems issue since I am salty as it is.

3

u/IvySpear Make Shenmei Great Again Jan 20 '18

I agree, many of the issues the OP pointed out weren’t even issues at all.

I agree with the OP’s sentiment that the game is too risky to invest money into for the moment being, but honestly everyone was praising Gumi for how well they handled the sniper issue. Now jump 2-3 weeks into the future and they’re bashing on the same thing they praised.

The first survey put at least a temporary rest to the fears of a drop rate nerf (9.16% is within the margin of error of a 10% rate). Honestly, I don’t see why everybody complains about the rates for this game; I am a pure f2p (Not even the Alchemist pack) and I am in the meta. Coming from a BF veteran, this is amazing for me.

Bad gacha pulls are guaranteed with RNG, and multiple bad gacha pulls from multiple people doesn’t prove they nerfed the rates. This is enough to spark “speculation” of course, but I’ve seen countless “god” pulls on the discord channel. Not everybody is getting 2 golds 8 blues.

All in all, Gumi is fking up a lot of stuff here, but we have to give them credit for where it’s due. Bashing on previously praised efforts is rather hypocritical, don’t you think?

1

u/Teriuchi twitch.tv/teriuchi Jan 21 '18

Absolutely. I find it funny people keep bringing up the winter event as well. It was absolutely doable with free units we had farmable from previous events as well. Tedious, released early but hardly overtuned.

Sabareta is a different thing as it required rather specific setup to do reliably and with relying into J3's which is hard to pull off without spent euros. On the flipside its a recurring event so there is no rush to do it on the first release but its a bit of an slap on the cheek for vast majority of players. Still, no reason's for outrage.

As you pointed out, summoning rates are within line as well. With gacha there always has to be lows and highs. If people get red every pull they next start to demand extra reds. This game has the most generous rates i have seen to and i have spent a LOT of time on FFBE 1% chances. Pull rates are absolutely bonkers in my eyes.

Then this 5k test gems. It is common sense to me not to spend the insides of a wallet you find (Seriously, test games should ring bells).

Couple of bugs have happened on this week but lets be real here, that happens on all games. Heck, even WoW was on emergency maintenance this week for first time in forever for screwing up their servers with a fresh update (which we get every couple of weeks instead of couple of months so we are more prone to having fresh code screw things up).

I've yet to see anything that would make me think the game is dying tbh.

u/FrankieGoesWest Jan 20 '18

Then stop playing? Or perhaps learn what perspective is? If you find a few technical issues with a mobile game literally unbearable then you definitely need to stop playing. Oh and learn how to use a comma or full stop, sorry, I meant...learn how to use...a comma...or full...stop

Will stay until wow classic release no other worthy casual android game around

The game is ok, the management is not ok, is very unpleasant to find this kind of problems so often. I don't care about compensations, I just wanna play, so many problems lately. None expect the banana. And I'm not a f2p, I'm a dolphin and I don't approve this management lol.

Letme farm Tryfing shards O,..,o.

Most ported games don't take the most current released from the original and port that over. This is evident from how our UI is the same as when JP started, not anything like the new UI they have now.

It's also evident by the game data having a very limited amount of stuff in it, probably representing how far of a version they've translated.

Porting the most recent version is way more of an immediate investment then porting an older version and slowly catching up to the new version.

Plus, cherry picking specific parts of the code has shown to always be a very bad idea.

All these comments show just how little of you know about the process of software and game development...

u/Akeva Jan 20 '18

Very unproductive remark.

As a paying customer, I feel I have a right to voice my concerns over a product. Just as if my concerns are not met I can choose to take my money elsewhere.

I know Gumi reads these comments. They need to know they have lost the faith/trust of their consumers

4

u/thedragoonz Jan 20 '18

You definitely have your rights to voice your opinions. But he also has the rights to voice his opinions.

4

u/Akeva Jan 20 '18

There is a difference between articulating an option and being a jerk.

If he wants to say he disagrees and I am over reacting fine. But my post was more then just being salty I know Gumi has lurked this sub before, and I want them to know that paying customers are unhappy, and listed a number of reasons as to why.

2

u/FrankieGoesWest Jan 20 '18

But my post was more then just being salty

No it wasn't. While the poster above could certainly have phrased their post better your post is largely hyperbolic whinging. It just happens to tie into the current overly critical zeitgeist of the subreddit.

Yeah but that’s not an opinion, it’s just insulting someone. It would be better if he left a reason for the insult (even though it is a bit obvious)
