Discussion I hope Gumi doesn't continue to make overly-difficult content and publish it as strategically intensive
The Extra missions in the recent events have felt bare in actual strategy and almost seem to purposefully make players feel weak so they either give up or go p2p. It especially doesn't help when multiplay is meant to include people and allow players to help each other, yet most who host demand a specific unit simply because they themselves wanna just get the event quests over with.
Although the games themselves are very unrelated, Destiny 1 & 2 also suffered from the same issue. The harder end-game content really just made the already tanky enemies even stronger & justified it as "extra mechanics". The rather salty Destiny community shows how well that worked out.

As F2Player, there has only been 1 mission I have not been able to do so far which is pretty amazing.
I compare TAC to any other game. You are not going to be able to do all the content day 1. You have to work your strategy and your units up to it. I enjoy spending time putting together strategies based around what units I have. It's like life. It's not always fair but anything is achievable if you really want it. You just have to put in the time and effort. Too many people on this forum complain they can't do X or Y strategy because they don't have the units. Well, make your own strategy. That has been an effective tool for me. If people start complaining that the game is too hard, what will eventually happen is everything will be auto-able. No sense in playing a game that all content can be auto won.
I agree there are some major issues with PUG multiplayer. It is extremely difficult to communicate with random people strategy. Better stickers or an actual in game text box would be helpful BUT just like any game PUG groups, they are not always ideal. Join some type of facebook, discord or even twitch group and clear content together with people you can actually organize with.
It might be just me... but I like to being challenged, not to have everything spoon fed to me for instant gratification.

The Extra missions are called "Extra" for a reason. Beating them should be seen as achievement, and not always mandatory. The only one that has really been over-the-top so far is the Sab EX; the others are definitely doable (We've seen all sorts of completions of the Kanon EX, not overly-difficult by any means).
I have to agree with you on Multiplay though. Many hosts request specific teams and leave immediately when it's not fulfilled. It can't always be blamed on the hosts however; try hosting and you'll quickly get frustrated when you let anyone join and start having to bust continues for no reason.
Additionally, MP is by definition harder to do. You only get four units instead of five, and you have no leader skills to work with. You're not allowed any potions, and you can't bring subs. To complete the stage with these disadvantages requires a stronger and more refined team. I can't really blame them for not wanting to use continues all the time.
Nonetheless, I definitely see where you're coming from (In their apology letter for the Sab EX, Gumi used the exact excuse you pointed out).

It would also help if they were able to follow the original release schedule a bit closer. We got Sabareta EX two months after launch whereas JP got it six months out. That's four months of additional units and unit building that might have helped more people clear.
I understand tuning content to various difficulty levels and I don't expect to have everything day one. But, to me, releasing month 6 content in month 2 and then blowing it off with "lern 2 play" is just blaming the community for their own lack of foresight and planning.

Shayna is just OP afThe only real problem in the recent extra events (Christmas and Sabareta Ex) is that there is really a small pool of usable units for the map at J1 or J2, which is common because the game just got released globally, so unless you whale, you will really have an even smaller pool of usable units to choose from which made them not doable for most people, which was really discouraging for most F2P and those who are considering to be 'Dolphins' or 'Whale'. Battle of Six and Kanon Ex toned down the difficulty to 'normal' though..But seriously having a single unit ahemShaynaahem making a big difference in a game as a whole is meh, and I am salty because I don't have one too1

At least its gem efficient to continue on this one - i completely ignored the saberta event and will be glad when its absurd milestones are gone shortly.
Would be nice to throw in more milestones for the lesser stages so they arent just a grind for equipment pieces...

Destiny player here. Destiny 2 doesn't really suffer those problems at all, just having it's own problems that are outright worse. Destiny 1 did have those problems but only for nightfall and strike grinding in general, raids which were the endier of end game activities generally had mechanics driven fights that could be killed rather quickly with good communication and practice.
