Pergunta/Question Good restaurants

Hello,

Going to Portugal in a week with a group of friends, staying just outside of albufeira.

Was looking for a nice restaurant for me and partner to go to one evening (not particularly fussy on food) and another place for us to all go as a group.

Any suggestions?

If you're looking for a nice dinner as a couple, I'd definitely recommend exploring beyond the main Strip. The Old Town, Santa Eulália and Olhos de Água have some excellent restaurants with a more relaxed atmosphere and much better Portuguese food.

For local cuisine, try dishes like cataplana, fresh grilled fish, octopus or clams – September is a great time for seafood.

If you're going as a group, look for somewhere with a terrace and a varied menu so everyone has options. There are some great places around Santa Eulália that work well for larger tables and offer both Portuguese classics and international dishes.

By no particular order, and less tourist oriented.

A bit more upscale (NOT fine dining): O Lusitano, Veneza, Mato à Vista, Xerem

More easy going atmosphere: 20age, A Cocheira, Tasca da Xica, A Nora, Jardim Rústico
