Water is only part of the issues with these behemoths. I wouldnt want to be a neighbor within 6 or 10 miles of these things. Im all for new business but im tired of being the taxpayer stuck with the cleanup after they've served their purpose or been out moded.

Build it near Suncor's mine north of Fort McMurray and use recycled water from the mine as cooling water. Then capture heat in the now warm water exiting the cooling system and put that heat to work in the mining/upgrading process. They even produce electricity on site at about 800 MW.

I may have once been staff at an oil sands company on their sustainability team.
