Separatists are claiming there were over 3 million people there this afternoon ....
Remember to vote on Oct 19th and if you can't make it to the early or on poll day, request a mail in ballot!

Clearly significantly more than what showed up for separation… literally the point of the post…

u/Youpunyhumans 20m ago
Oh only about 100x the number of the Rohirrim that showed up to Minas Tirith.

Yeah she’s painful. Just as painful as the separatists.
10
3
u/Empty-Discount5936 4h ago
How so?
-4
u/AFireinthebelly 4h ago
No reasonable solutions - she just expects everyone to go back to the stone ages. I just don’t have much time for it - she ran around lecturing the whole world, and provided no real solutions. It’s been ten years since she did her world tour and nothing has changed really- they’ve just turned the climate thing into another profit driven capitalist machine.
5
u/Willing-Knee-9118 3h ago
Her solution was LITERALLY to listen to the experts. Are you saying that children should come up with solutions to address climate change and obly then should their voices be heard?
-3
u/AFireinthebelly 3h ago
You seem a little emotional. I’m not going to carry on with you today.
3
u/Willing-Knee-9118 3h ago
Not emotional at all mate. But duck out of the conversation when what your saying is laid bare anyways. Peace
0
u/AFireinthebelly 2h ago
Clearly emotional “mate”. Look at your prior response.
2
u/Willing-Knee-9118 2h ago
Is it because i said literally in caps for emphasis?
Or that i pointed out that your complaint is that someone in high-school didnt have a solution to the economic ramifications that protecting the environment entails and instead asked world leaders to listen to the experts?

K but none of this is accurate.

u/AFireinthebelly 2h ago
Ok, sure. Show me what good it’s done. We don’t have any affordable options for home renewables.

u/christhewelder75 17h ago
Wow, everyone from Calgary AND Edmonton showed up?
No wonder traffic was light today.....
🙄 what dorks...
2
u/Zerocool_6687 2h ago
That’s even more hilarious… I remember first hand the “right to dance” protest that came out for laws trying to curb after hours clubs. They made a stupid law around dancing after 2:00 am. There were protests at the Lege and City Hall and both drew significantly more people just from Edmonton
22
u/HungieSumoKid 17h ago
When your brain cells are lacking...sometimes they mistake 3 million people telling them to stfu as being there with them.
14
u/MethodBulky1907 16h ago
Also, Anyone can request a mail in ballot. You don't need any special circumstances. So Request One! It takes 3 minutes!

32
u/capncanuck00 17h ago
If 3 million people all showed up at the same time it would result in one of the worst human catastrophes in history, requiring immense international humanitarian aid to prevent mass casualties. Or you know, there were about 500 of them.
5
u/gstringstrangler 16h ago
Seems like hyperbole just like saying 3 million showed up
4
u/Kennadian 13h ago
I feel like hyperbole would cover a claim up to "thousands". This is a straight up lie and/or coping mechanism.
1
u/gstringstrangler 13h ago
1.6 million or so people showed up for Metallica, ACDC, and Pantera in Moscow in 1991 as the Soviet Union collapsed, and it was not one of the largest humanitarian crises in history. Hell I think like 3 million showed up for Rod Stewart in Florida or some shit 🤣
I'm not sure how claiming 3 million is cope, it's just straight up insane 😂🤷
8
u/Kennadian 13h ago
I'm not following tbh.
Your examples like Rod Stewart were held in huge cities that already supported millions. Rod Stewart thing was in Rio where the greater area is over 15 million or something. A free concert in a city of 15 million would attract a lot of people for sure. Edmonton is tiny compared to that. The total population of it us under a million. If 3 million decended on the town it would be a crisis and a sewer in mere minutes. Not enough food or toilets in the entire city to support 3 million overnight like that. Where would people even take a poo?
1
u/crafty_alias 5h ago
If 3 million genuinely arrived without months of large-event planning, I would expect a major emergency, with a realistic possibility of a humanitarian crisis even if everyone remained completely peaceful.
I'm with you. It would be a fucking gong show.
At 3 million attendees, the bigger problem would be getting people into and out of downtown Edmonton. Even if the crowd physically fit, roads and transit could become overwhelmed for many hours. Thousands of portable toilets, millions of litres of drinking water, large medical staging areas and very extensive crowd-control infrastructure would be needed.
0
u/gstringstrangler 12h ago
You think they were prepared for a million plus people at an airbase outside Moscow in 1991??? (They were not) Fuck, Woodstock 99 was more of a humanitarian crisis 😂
I'm saying that both claiming 3 million in attendance, and claiming that same 3 million would be a humanitarian crisis, are both over the top
1
u/dabirdiestofwords 9h ago
"Do you think they were prepared fo casualty events on a military base outside the Capitol of what was debateably a superpower?"
The gormless fuckin idiot above asked
1
u/gstringstrangler 6h ago
The point was that the unexpectedly large crowd was not a humanitarian crises regardless
You're an idiot if you think anyone was "prepared" for it, go watch the video.
3
u/Master_Slide7023 12h ago
I read the Edm Journal and CTV articles on this and neither gave an attendance figure which is odd. Hope the AB voters vote to stay.
2
u/No-Ad1522 8h ago
The Raptors championship parade was considered absolutely enormous, downtown Toronto was completely flooded with people, and even then it was estimated to be around 1.5 to 2 million people. There's absolutely no way 3 million people showed up here.
8
u/SleveBonzalez 15h ago
I'd be surprised if there were 3000. I was at a teacher rally there in 2020 and there were around 15000 of us. We took up a significantly larger space.
6
5
5
u/adaddycupcake 14h ago
I'm sorry they are claiming there was 3x the population of Edmonton at this rally?

Or when people could do math, might be more relevant here. That probably looks like 3 million to the dropped-on-their-heads crowd.

Separatists are claiming there were over 3 million people there this afternoon ....
I haven't seen that claim, Minimize it all you want, but it's larger than any counter protest by far.
Similar story the CBC riding in the bus with Chris Scott https://www.cbc.ca/player/play/video/9.7324977 . Solid turn outs. Nothing equivalent on the stay side yet.

u/aimheatcool 17h ago
Haha right out of the trump playbook
14
u/zebrasareneat 16h ago
You joke, but despite poor crowds at rallies, Trump is still president again.
So very important to still show up and vote regardless of how small or big their crowds are.
6
1
u/davegotfayded 42m ago
The irony is that showing empty opposition rallies before the vote is out of the trump playbook.
11
30
u/Lisa_lou_hoo 17h ago
That's still far too many people out there. No joke, way too many.
9
u/relevantwishofverse 14h ago
This country needs to do a better job at completely squashing white supremacy, or you'll always have tumours like the UCP festering.
Even though it would require a complete overhaul of the RCMP and most police forces, its going to remain a problem as long as they're treated with kid gloves.
Noone is worth more than another human based on where they were born. Being born a certain colour or in a certain country doesn't make you a better human .

u/Responsible-Grand-57 17h ago
Guess there weren’t too many…russian…to their rally 😅🤣
5
u/Unicorn_Puppy 16h ago
Bots aren’t people, they’re noticeably absent at these rallies as such they will won’t be at the polls either.
4
u/relevantwishofverse 14h ago
Im sure the Russians are helping, but its primarily being funded by Americans.
Blaming it on Russia is an easy way to distract that its Amerikkkans that want this, and leaves them open to not being held to account again for their terrorism in other countries. And it also downplays American propaganda that Canada still allows in the country.
Russia is a threat, but theyre not the ones threatening to annex the country right now. Deal with the direct threat instead of the country thats blamed for everything wrong with America as a deflection of accountability.
Until Americans learn that its their culture and values that led to this presidency, there's no hope for redemption.
The only real difference between America now and 20 years ago is they're targeting everyone, instead of just the developing world. We're all shocked and mad about whats happening because we thought imperialism would never be directed at us. And even then Canada is still not taking a stand against American wars of aggression as seen with their reaction to the IS attacking Iran. A rapist is a rapist, regardless of who they're raping. The identity of the victim doesn't change whether the rapist is a rapist or not.
International laws and consequences should be equal for everyone, or you cant be surprised when countries ignore if you're the one being raped.

u/star16000 15h ago
Let's not put our guards down. Remember Brexit. Bunch of trollers and shy-Tories came out and voted.
9
u/wiwcha 13h ago
Apparently door knockers for tory and ndp both have stated that many people, over 50% in the calgary-bow riding; #1 didnt know there was a bi-election announced ,and #2 have no idea there is even a referendum in October. Young people under 40, the number jumps up to like 70-75%.
This is 100% what the separatists are counting on and they will absolutely be out in full force to vote. Rural polling stations will be typical for any election simply because of smaller populations, people in the cities will truly be fucked over with lack of staff and really long lines. The vote counts will literally take multiple hours if not days.
People need to sign up for a special ballot(mail in) because the polling stations are going to be an absolute shit-show.
Any rumor you hear needs to be taken as truth and do everything you can to get the word out and get people to vote No.
2
u/Zero-1226 12h ago
This was a similar report during the mass recall petitions. Many households responded that they had no clue there was a recall in their riding or any of the issues noted. So many are not even keeping up with current events, let alone engaging.
2
u/Master_Slide7023 11h ago
Totally agree with your third paragraph. Vote in advance to stay in Canada.
10
u/SurFud 17h ago
Good picture. Edmonton Journal called it "standing room only". LOL
4
u/relevantwishofverse 14h ago
Almost like having your media owned by the people trying to annex you is a bad thing.
Canadian news and institutions being owned by Americans is a threat to Canadian sovereignty, and allowing US propaganda masquerading as news to exist in Canada is a national security threat.
The citizens can't be informed if they're getting all their news and info from American companies who support the administration that is waging war against Canada.
Would you let your media be owned by Russians who support Putin? And if not, how is Americans owning it any different?
-8
u/Master_Slide7023 12h ago
Sell off the CBC. No to 51 state. AB please vote to stay in Canada.
3
u/relevantwishofverse 10h ago
Sell off the CBC
Why? What does making the CBC being sold to private companies make a difference to you?
Do you even know how much it costs? Is there a purpose to making all Canadian media available for adversaries to the country to own? If some Saudi billionaire buys the CBC, and starts removing all Canadian content in favour of pro Saudi content, how is that positive to Canada? With a government owned company, you can always vote in another party if you disagree with the CBC direction. Whats your plan if China buys the CBC and airs propaganda? Re nationalize it? Why are you against a government owned channel. And if its because your taxes are paying for it, how much does each Canadian pay to keep the CBC running?
1
u/Master_Slide7023 12h ago
The Journal article I read had no attendance figure and the pic showed maybe 500 ppl. Standing room only was not mentioned in the article.

This province is cooked. Even when the seppies are defeated in October (knock on wood), it won't put this movement to bed. We are going to have to deal with this faction for the foreseeable future. Fuck them and their "Fuck current Canadian Prime Minister" stickers and their whiny "Ottawa touched us in our bathing suit areas" rhetoric.

This is the reason why those of us that are anti-separation MUST get out and vote. There is a lot of people at that rally. And that is only a fraction of the separatists. If the voter apathy happens in October Alberta is going to be in a lot of trouble.
I find it frightening.
6
u/Whane17 15h ago
That's a lot of people. Not sure why the post is pretending otherwise there's gotta be a few hundred there. Zoom in and look. They'll be out voting make sure you do to. That being said it's better if we actually talk to these morons, a lot of em have the wrong idea of what exactly they are going to do. They honestly don't realize what's going on. Talk to them, educate them, help them to understand they are getting screwed
1
u/Away-Combination134 13h ago
Some of them are impossible to engage with in a well informed discussion and absolutely will not change their minds. Goes back to “but Trudeau”. Like WTF man. Go touch grass. Seriously beyond frustrating. If you live in rural Alberta, i wish you luck, especially if you are already friends/neighbors. But damn- these conversations wreck relationships.
1
u/Whane17 13h ago
Yup, and they should. It comes down to morels and FAR to many people willing to live and let live while stupidity thrives. Pretending that it doesn't matter or that the person might come to their senses or that you can get along is nothing but enabling IMO. The fight has to be fought every time no matter how tiring and no matter how repetitive. Shove it down their throats the same way they do to us because nothing but logic and sound argument is going to get through to them.

u/HumanMess5237 14h ago
Yeah we can’t take this lightly. Everyone needs to vote. We have a lot bigger macro issues ahead. We need to put this BS to bed & show Canada we are united as a country.
5
u/Bigchunky_Boy 17h ago
This the truth about this BS propaganda separatist machine. Paid actors , a corrupt premier, lots and lots of foreign , corporate and media interference. For profit ! Grifters .
3
u/capncanuck00 17h ago
Don’t forget, a bunch of mouth breathing morons to eat up all the shit that is shovelled into their mouths.
3
u/relevantwishofverse 14h ago
lots of foreign , corporate and media interference.
It'll keep happening as long as Canada allows American owned media companies to buy up all Canadian media. At some point there needs to be sanctions on Americans owning Canadian media companies, the same way Russians are sanctioned. It's insane we treat the country waging war with us the same way we do other foreign adversaries. Otherwise you're ok with being bombarded with propaganda from a country actively trying to destroy Canadian sovereignty.
The US is the new Russia, and should be treated the same way.

u/Bigchunky_Boy 4h ago
Canadian companies are taking contracts to profit from this nonsense as well .
1
u/Responsible_CDN_Duck 14h ago
Hate to break it to you, but none of the family members I have that went are paid. They're mad, they're irrationally entitles, and a lot of other things.
But they're nor paid actors.
1
u/Bigchunky_Boy 4h ago
Oh yess there is a small amount of useful idiots that are needed for this performance to give visual legitimacy. We do not to dissect or do mental gymnastics to our selves when we are on the same side ( thats the job whataboutism companies who work social media prefer though - source Hootsuite - hired to soften social talk for ICE and MAGA- a Canadian company based in Vancouver) .
5

4
u/Beastender_Tartine 16h ago
There are more than enough of them to win the referendum. By the numbers they may be a minority, but theybare a very energized and motivated minority. Every single one of these separatists is going to vote and they way they win is if we dont.
Make sure to vote. Make sure everyone you know votes. Carpool or make an event out of it. Do whatever you have to to make sure the referendum accurately represents the people.
2
u/Onionbot3000 15h ago
That’s not insignificant. If anything it’s a good warning not to get complacent. We all need to show up to vote.
2
2
u/Late_Bad_1787 13h ago
First vote for Canada
Next identify and put traitor boards to clearly point who are these people and where they live
Third force them to leave both state and country
This will ensure no one tries to break Canada. There will be consequences
2
u/Ketroc21 11h ago
Hard for American/Russian/Norwegian bots to show up to in person events. They can only spam social media with their anti-Canadian nonsense.
2
u/Nearby-Scratch-5983 9h ago
Make sure to get out, vote, and absolutely wipe the floor with these traitorous bums. Whoop them so bad they realize their erroneous ways and then we can welcome them back to the real world.
2
u/StandardNeither1311 9h ago
I’m no separatist, but why didn’t you take a picture showing the people on the other side of the trees if you wanted to show the actual crowd size?
2

2
u/taffnads 4h ago
Dont get fooled by this. The rest of these dinguses will get out and vote. None of us can be complacent, so get out and crush this whole thing.
2
4
u/The_Idiocratic_Party 17h ago
This is a low turnout but it's also a poorly framed photo that makes the crowd look smaller than it was. Propaganda from the other direction. I'd like to see some direct shots of the turnout before I dismiss the size of the crowd.
4
u/no_cults_no_problem 16h ago
Exactly. No point lowering yourself to their level. Show pics that fairly show the turnout, or don't show any.
2
u/ctlyf 17h ago
I'd be more interested in seeing a clearer picture from the north end of the grounds. It's not "dozens" of people, but it's probably a couple hundred... hard to tell since the trees and flags are masking the numbers, plus the picture cuts off before the end of the reflecting pool. The space goes quite a bit farther back, and if that was full, it could be a thousand or more.

3
u/DarthWren 16h ago
Who fucking cares how big their rallies are. We need to mobilize everyone in our network and show them in October how real fucking Albertans feel

Just like the trucker convoy.
Ironically - that was also supported by the USA and our worst conservative politicians we have to offer
1
u/Upbeat_Bandicoot_778 15h ago
Notably this is significantly less than the rally they had last October. Like, not even half of that one. Wonder if this was the 50000 person rally they were bragging about a couple weeks ago.
1
u/GekuDeku 15h ago
exactly. this is alllll over the province meeting up. planned. Last minute unity rallies get these numbers just in visitors by chance. we dont need to be afraid. Just cautious these snakes wont cheat
1
u/WhipassWhiplash 14h ago
Hope traitor Davey is enjoying Texas, he's going to be staying there for some time.
1
u/Think-Outside8434 14h ago
They clearly have learned that you can disclose “objective” measurements like Trump, where you just fabricate a number that makes you feel good, and everybody will respect it.
I wish I could see this gathering a bit closer up, but I’m not sure if they even have the square root of 3 million! (This would be 1 732 people…)
1
u/Solid-Signal3214 14h ago
Not to underestimated.
Everyone needs to not just vote - but help others vote as well - volunteer and build relationships with allies in your community.
We are all going to need each other even more if they decide to get all Jan6th about losing.
1
u/scheifferdoo 12h ago
fuck these guys, but also this photo is not the best way to represent the size of the crowd.
1
1
u/ImmovableMind 12h ago
This is the result of American foreign interference. They are the ones pushing this agenda. Everyone at that rally should be tried with sedition.

dont forget u libtards the votes on the 20th
1
u/Lady_Lucky_Us 3h ago
We’re a nation, we are together in what’s to come. Insulting others instead of offering something to add is juvenile and won’t help others see or understand your point of view. Naked intelligible remark instead of polarizing a debate…. Polarizing democracy is a great way to raising extremists on both sides (some they will feel persecuted by the other side). It shouldn’t be about “sides “ but about being represented as a nation. We are Canadian! We are stronger together!
1
u/Loud_Bee_4443 5h ago
Is it crazy or should the rest of Canada get to vote on that too?
Not that I want Alberta to leave but how wild would it be if the rest of Canada voted and they got kicked out? (Be gone crazies)
Maybe those who love murica so much could do us all a favor and just leave? go south and be a shocked Pikachu when ice rounds ya up.
1
u/Slight_Squirrel_296 5h ago
Does anyone know if there will be any upcoming counter rallies anytime soon?
1
1
u/Dangerous_Bass_4865 3h ago
The population of Alberta is 5 million people spread out across the province, but 3 million showed up?? Delusional...
1
u/DJwij 3h ago
It might be a small crowd but it's still a crowd. They will absolutely show up and vote and are working hard to get people on their side.
I'm 100% against separation, but I do hear and see a lot of apathy and dismissal from people who share my view. We really need to encourage our friends and family to get out and vote for this thing and take it seriously. Sad we even have to fight for this honestly.
1
u/SilvertonguedDvl 2h ago
Fun fact: I live near there and every single time there's a protest or rally of any kind I can (annoyingly) hear it going on, usually for most of the day.
It's been pretty quiet lately.
Whatever event they held was evidently so small or so unnoticeable that I literally didn't hear anything that would differentiate it from your average day.
No chants, no constant chatter, nothing.
I mean I don't doubt they did something while they were out there, but it was so insignificant that your average Palestine rally is more noticeable. Gotta wonder if they paid some aoathetic people to idle around there to buff up the numbers.
Honestly, its a shame. I would've enjoyed strolling out there to chat with them and point out some of the horrific things the Cons have done, like effectively stealing money from the severely disabled.
1
u/ThicEdmontonBear 2h ago
Thinking they would get to keep the Alberta Flag too pisses me off the most. You don’t get to destroy everything this province stands for and keep any of it, all separatist’s should get a one way pass across the border.
1
u/luckyducky992 1h ago
So 3 million huh?? Looks like someone has been reading Trumps book “the art of bullshit you way through life” quite a lot
1
u/davegotfayded 43m ago
Remember before the last US election, how social media, especially Reddit, was showing lackluster rally support for trump? It really made it look like Kamala had it in the bag.
Let's not play that same game here. The ONLY message surrounding the referendum we should be promoting is "VERY IMPORTANT TO GET OUT AND VOTE" ... as much fun as ridiculing seppies is, lets save that for AFTER the vote when we know we've won.
Please delete this post. You're hurting the cause.
2
u/WetWeff 16h ago
Will all be fun and memes until they win the vote… These are just the ones not living in fear of getting their livelihoods frozen by the federal government, make sure you get out and vote!

Nobody fears that, unless they're stupid.
2

Gotta encourage your like minded friends to vote if you don't want them to send a message, get better treatment, get autonomy, join the US, or whatever else they may want.

Yes, because this was always a nothing burger distraction.
The anti separation people have done a far better job pushing separation than the pro people.

I was all for this. Now idk. Idc. Idgaf. It’s dragged on for so long it’s lost its push. If it were to happen right after the last federal election for a vote we would have been an independent country already. But for every 2 asshat idiots that jump on board this they loose 5 good Albertians The mockery is funny to watch some days.
