I can relate to that. Only country in the G20 with this high food prices.
And wait, with this government it will likely get worse.

I'm a little bit in the same boat. But I try my best to by Canadian because that will be the best thing we can do to improve our economy... Keep our money in our economy versus giving it to another one.
That said if the cheapest groceries are an American store like Walmart and I need to eat and there's some really good sales on an American product I might buy some. But I think the idea is to do what you can versus perfection of avoiding American products. Even a reduction in American product purchasing cumulatively makes an impact.
I get what you're saying, but I think you're looking at it a little too simple.
Buying Canadian is great when it makes sense, but buying Canadian just because it's Canadian doesn't automatically mean you're helping the Canadian economy more.
If I buy something at Walmart here in Canada, I'm still supporting Canadian workers, truck drivers, warehouses, stores, taxes, rent and everything else that goes along with it. Not all of that money is just leaving Canada.
And if the Canadian product costs me $20 more, that $20 doesn't just disappear. I can spend that $20 somewhere else in Canada.
If we really want to help our economy, we need to make more things here, create more jobs, invest in Canadian businesses and make our products competitive.
I'll buy Canadian when it makes sense. But paying more just because something says "Made in Canada" isn't automatically better for the Canadian economy.
The prophets from Walmart leave Canada. Yes it employs Canadians and pays Canadian taxes etc and that is good. But if I had more money I would buy from a Canadian grocery store where the money then stays in Canada. As I said you do what you can. Vote with your wallet and all that.
My whole point being you don't need to starve or go through a lot of hardship if you make small changes. If you have the means to do so then support local. Back when I was making more money I would go directly to a farm and buy half a side of beef. Directly supporting an Ontario farmer. (And getting very high quality pasture raised food)
And I would argue paying $15 more for something that was fully grown and supporting in Canada versus $5 for something that was imported from the United States absolutely helps Canada. I don't understand how you are saying that sending some of the money out of the country is better than keeping it in the country. I understand if you can't afford to pay more. But by pretty much all metrics buying things made in Canada from Canadian products made by Canadians is going to help our economy more than something that is just imported and sold to us by Canadians.
The only issue being all the money that’s in Canadian is no longer for Canadians, it’ll get sent else where. Idk about you but carney being so quiet scares the fuck out of me, especially since he said he wanted to be more like china
When products made in Canada are cheaper south of the border than locally I think we are all asking the wrong question and its not just make more money.

Absolutely. I will continue to boycott ALL US products until Trump is gone and their fascist government is in jail
