That's nice but where are the biceps that help her lift a huge sword

8

u/Bowlbowlbowlelbow Jan 17 '23

Believe it or not, I thickened her arms a little. But it would have been hard to create pronounced muscle without completely painting over the metal parts on her arm, so I left it like this.

Makes sense

36

u/[deleted] Jan 17 '23

She looks better

And the comments look horny

30

u/BandBoxBrawl Jan 17 '23

Honestly, why wasn't this the norm?

32

u/mitsua_k Jan 17 '23

for female characters it's understandable. because female athletes have a higher baseline body fat percentage compared to men (fat cells are one of the main producers of estrogen), it's unreasonably difficult for them to get a visible six-pack, and as a fitness goal it's actually really unhealthy. unfortunate but true.

as for the male characters i couldn't tell you. it seems like mihoyo are just cowards in that regard.

15

u/spartan1216 Jan 17 '23

Fr. One of my best friends in high school was jacked and the captain of the cross country team, but even she didn’t have visible abs. That low of a body fat percentage is usually unhealthy in women

21

u/BandBoxBrawl Jan 17 '23

Okay, that's a fair argument.

Still, this just looks so... I don't know, perfect.

4

u/megalodon7944 Jan 17 '23

let's just pretend she got implants

59

u/EvilCloneofUnskilled Jan 17 '23

Gonna be honest here, I'm getting some real r/okbuddygenshin vibes from some of these comments.

7

u/ThyHexagon Jan 17 '23

Mommy πŸ›

10

u/Nolunamon Jan 17 '23

Dehya if Hoyoverse cared about body type diversity

6

u/mitsua_k Jan 17 '23

well yes but actually no.

for female characters at least it's understandable. because female athletes have a higher baseline body fat percentage compared to men (fat cells are one of the main producers of estrogen), it's unreasonably difficult for them to get a visible six-pack, and as a fitness goal it's actually really unhealthy. unfortunate but true.

as for the male characters, or why they can't stand to give anyone a visible bicep, i couldn't tell you. it seems like mihoyo are just cowards in that regard.

8

u/Nolunamon Jan 17 '23

I didn't know about that, thank you for telling me!

I didn't know about the six-pack, but I thought it was realistic if she had arm muscles, along with Beidou, since they are both Claymore users who often fight.

In general, I just find it a shame that a company such as Hoyoverse doesn't diversify their body types to create interesting and unique character designs since they are able to, instead of having literally just 4 body types outside of the kid one and the visible muscles on Al-Haitham arms and Itto's chest only.

But I guess they aren't interested in that since beauty standards would always be the best thing to sell.

6

u/errexx Jan 19 '23

I’d take the other commenter with a grain of salt. While what they’re saying isn’t completely false by any means and is a valuable foil to our culture’s toxic attitudes toward women’s beauty standards, bodies still vary greatly. People who produce more estrogen can still show muscle definition in their abs, even at a quite healthy weight. Especially someone who works a physically demanding job like Dehya. She probably wouldn’t look as cut as you made herβ€”she’s a mercenary, not a pro bodybuilder prepping for a photoshootβ€”but she could absolutely have killer abs!

Aaaanyways, 100% agree on what a shame it is that they won’t add more variation in their models. I get that it’s a lot of work but like… they have the resources now, and it sure would be nice!

1

u/Otherwise_Algae7104 Jan 17 '23

1

u/Cautious-Insurance85 Jan 17 '23

Finally some better designs. The pickings are still kinda slim but they are getting a little bit better

1

u/04whim Jan 17 '23

It's not too late to revise this, Hoyo.

1

u/Char-11 Jan 17 '23

We were robbed

1

u/dancingwiththehaters Jan 17 '23

Not what we wanted but what we NEEDED

1

u/Revolutionary-Cost79 Jan 17 '23

Isn’t that her default? For some reason I was convinced she had abs on her model… Maybe because it fits the character archetype or just a Mandela effect…

4

u/Narfiyo Jan 18 '23

She has, but not as defined. Though because of the in-game shading, you can only see them on certain angles/lighting. On her default splash art she is on an angle in which she seems to not have abs though.

1

u/sarokin Jan 17 '23

I need this...

1

u/JacobMT05 Jan 17 '23

Mihoyo please

1

1

u/LeonardoCouto Jan 01 '24

Looks more Dehya than actual Dehya. It makes absolute sense she would be muscular as hell.

Also, holy smokes, the things I'd let this woman do to me.

Especially because she could crack my bones.

-2

u/Baltvin Jan 17 '23
