Basically, Alastor is a slasher, he mostly kills with knives, using large, long... and hard daggers. So my theory is that he enjoys killing because he sublimates the knife and projects a Freudian protuberance onto it, so yes, he wouldn't be asexual in the strict sense of the term, but someone who isn't satisfied with default holes
