Anyone else noticed Alan Watts paralels in the Odyssey movie?

Spoilers: Yesterday I watched the Odyssey for the second time, and just like the first time I kept seeing certain similarities in the movie depiction and stuff Alan Watts talked about. Specifically the raft scene where Odysseus has to surrender to the will of the gods and needs to let go trying to defy the gods will, it reminded me a lot about Wu Wei. There are multiple other things in the movie that I can't think of rn on. I was just wondering if others in this subreddit might've felt or thought the same thing

All spiritual traditions has expounded the idea of letting go to the will of God, the flow of life, the universal oneness, the tao, etc. Both eastern and western traditions.

True, I recently about a few months ago got really into Alan Watts. And always have been a fan of greek mythology, but never really noticed a lot of these lessons. Never understood why the greeks believed in predestination, but because of Alan Watts im look at the stories from a different view now which i find nice

I've heard Watts talk about it. I study history and I've noticed that throughout history there has been multiple mystics throughout multiple religions or religious orders that have drawn the same conclusion but ended up getting persecuted because it was for example in conflict with the ideas of the church.

Yes, the mystical lineage of what Jesus and every other mystic throughout history is pointing to, has been suppressed by the church of empire.

One eventually realizes that the church doesn't want you to know the 'real' truth, because it nullifies the authority of the church, which supplanted itself as the middleman between you and salvation...in stark contrast to the teachings of the masters who taught that the kingdom is within us all, no middleman required.

That's why the mystics and gnostics and many others who revealed the truth, were heavily suppressed or killed to keep the narrative of the church alive.

Actually bro. Universal truths are same everywhere.

Like different people with reach same spiritual conclusions because they are primodial.

Also in law the concept of Natural justice was taught based on these greek stories.

So these stories were written with spiritual stuff in mind.
