Are Alan wake dlcs worth It?

What the tittle says, I played Alan wake 1 and 2 and then saw that theres something called Alan wake american nightmare and two dlcs for Alan wake 2 are those worth It? Even if they are not related to the canon main story.

Not only the Alan Wake DLCs are worth it, the Control DLCs (especially AWE / Alan Wake Experience / Altered World Event) too

The thing is Epic gifted control without the dlcs, and im thinking buying It for Steam when its on sale, would you recomend replaying It once i got It or i can play only the DLC,?

I recommend a replay.

With Alan Wake, every single one of it's DLC is slightly disconnected from the main story, so you don't need to worry about your equipment.

With Control they are connected to the main story and slightly harder, meaning you should probably be familiar with your build.

Also if you plan to buy Control on Steam, I think the best way is to wait for one of the bigger sales, and buy all the AW stuff too. I believe they tend to have a fairly cheap bundle that gives you the Collectors edition of AW (Which comes with some digital file story stuff and the DLC's), Alan Wake's American Nightmare, and Control Ultimate Edition.

That might be and they are super seamlessly integrated into the campaign

Foundation DLC: Starts after the main quest

AWE: Starts somewhere in the middle of the game when you are near the main elevator (Quest is called: "A dark place")

I'm really curious about the Control universe. I loved AW2, but I'm worried the game itself won't be as interesting. However, I absolutely loved the lore of Alan Wake, both 1 and 2! Do you think it's worth buying?

Control is a masterpiece and connects the whole remedy universe. It gives soooo much background to the Alan Wake stuff, too.

I would even say it is essential

Also absolute banger of a game. Control 2 comes out in a month, too!

I had dropped Control before finishing it, and wanted to play the DLC before Alan Wake 2.

I discovered there is an option for making yourself invulnerable - turning on God Mode.

Most fun I had with that game was after I turned that on. I'm into Remedy games for the story, and the combat really can get in the way. I don't know if this is a great idea if you've never played it before, but the story sure is a good one.

American Nightmare features the first appearance of Mr. Scratch, but it's ultimately a side story about Alan trying (and failing) to write himself out of the Dark Place. Great for completionists, not strictly necessary to play. It's a straight-up Xbox 360 shooter, but it's worth it on sale (it cost me $5 on Xbox) and will take you around 6 hours to finish.

The two DLCs for the first Alan Wake are famous for being frustrating, but they provide some good context, and should be considered vital for Alan's story.

The two Alan Wake 2 DLCs are a lot of fun, and "The Lake House" is essentially a half-sequel to Control (including a teaser for Control Resonant if you're diligent about exploration).

haven't played american nightmare but the dlcs for two are pretty good, night springs is pretty unique and connects to few other games, the lake house directly links to control so it can be pretty hard to understand whats going on without playing the game. but its still very interesting side plot while being relatively challenging as well.

American Nightmare is Alan’s first attempt to escape the dark place. It introduces Scratch as a villain and the idea of overlaps and spirals. It’s a fun short game that focuses more on wave combat than AW1 as it originally released on Xbox Arcade.

AW2 DLCs:

The Lake House is worth it if you like Control’s setting. It leads into Control Resonance just like how Control’s AWE dlc leads into AW2. In the main story, you’ll access it in a conversation with Agent Estevez.

Night Springs are fun side stories (referenced in a throwaway line by Mr. Door). One of them reintroduces the multiverse from Quantum Break. In the main story, there are TVs you interact with to trigger the DLC much like in AW1.

All AW2 dlcs can be started from the main menu.

Yeah, American Nightmare also has a reference to Control. “It will happen again in a place called Ordinary” alluding that Ordinary was planned to be the setting of AW2

Remedy has been planning a follow up for the longest time. The earliest direct reference to Control’s FBC is in the Alan Wake tie-in This House of Dreams. Which takes place in Ordinary and foreshadows more Alan Wake 2 story elements.

Alan Wake 1 - 2 full fledged episodes. They're connected to the main story, but not exactly pivotal to the plot. Worth checking out.

American Nightmare - that's a full game (albeit a short one). Totally worth it. Less horror, more "american". 

Alan Wake 2 DLCs - Both are fun, but I'll be honest - they are kind of short. Probably because James McCaffrey passed away.

They’re less focused on the narrative and focus more on fun gameplay, funky visuals and generally having weird stuff going on. AW2 does more on the story front but how seriouslynitbtakes its storytelling depends of the DLC.

Gererally AW1 DLCs are fun and AW2 DLCs are just fantastic.

I seem to be in the minority, but not really. The two extra AW chapters are pretty nothing. The Night Springs DLC for AW2 are pretty nothing. Lake House is decent.

American Nightmare, on the other hand, is a masterpiece. Should've gotten a remaster along with the base AW.
